This study investigates the host proteome and metaproteome in saliva andgingival crevicular fluid (GCF) of G-CSF-treated patients.

Limbal graft transplantation: a rare implementation in pediatric limbal stem cell deficiency.

Purpose: To evaluate limbal graft transplantation success in pediatric patients with chemical injury-induced limbal stem cell deficiency (LSCD) using the 'LSCD Working Group' staging system.

Methods: Medical records of 11 eyes of 11 children who underwent limbal graft transplantation (limbal autograft/limbal allograft) were included. Surgical success was defined as improvement in the post-operative 1st year LSCD stage.

Factors affecting mortality in COVID-19-associated pulmonary aspergillosis: An international ID-IRI study.

Background: This study aimed to identify factors that influence the mortality rate of patients with coronavirus disease (COVID-19)-associated pulmonary aspergillosis (CAPA).

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, data from 23 centers across 15 countries, spanning the period of March 2020 to December 2021, were retrospectively collected. The study population comprised patients who developed invasive pulmonary aspergillosis while being treated for COVID-19 in the intensive care unit.

Background: Immunotherapy-based combinations have emerged as standard therapies for patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC). Changes in the cardiovascular risk profile in children approaching kidney replacement therapy.

Background: Despite significant cardiovascular (CV) morbidity in children on dialysis and after kidney transplantation, data on the evolution of CV damage in children with chronic kidney disease (CKD) approaching kidney replacement therapy (KRT) is unknown.

Methods: The burden, progression, and predictors of CV damage before KRT onset were explored in two prospective multicenter cohorts from Europe and Canada: Cardiovascular Comorbidity in Children with CKD (4C) and Haemodiafiltration, Heart and Height (3H) studies, conducted from 2009-19 and 2013-16, respectively. CV damage and risk factors were evaluated (i) cross sectionally at KRT-start (n = 248), and (ii) longitudinally over the 2-years preceding KRT start (n = 157; 331 patient-visits).

Introduction: Medial open wedge high tibial osteotomy is a biological procedure for treating unicompartmental knee osteoarthritis. The literature repeatedly highlights the significance of preserving an intact lateral hinge during this procedure. We investigated the temporal course of distraction forces during distraction at the osteotomy site, aiming to quantitatively measure and analyse temporal changes in distraction forces at different distraction points for intact and fractured lateral hinges.

Emergency surgeries are linked with increased morbidity and reduced life expectancy, often associated with low socioeconomic status, limited access to healthcare, and delayed hospital admissions. While the influence of socioeconomic status on elective surgery outcomes is well-established, its impact on emergency surgeries, including ostomy creation and closure, is less clear. This study aimed to explore how the pandemic and socioeconomic status affect emergency ostomy procedures, seeking to determine which has a greater effect.

Background: Recent studies indicate that using combination of two or more clinical tests for detecting meniscal tear gets a higher sensitivity and specificity than any clinical test performed individually.

Methods: The study involved 84 participants who were divided into two groups: the "OP group" consisting of participants diagnosed with a meniscal tear and who consequently underwent arthroscopic meniscectomy, and the "CN group" comprising of healthy participants with no history of knee injury. Two independent observers (orthopedic surgeons) recorded the results of six clinical tests: Thessaly Test, joint line tenderness, McMurray Test, Ege Test, Steinmann I Test, and atrophy of the thigh muscles.

Reduced nicotine in cigarettes in a marketplace with alternative nicotine systems: randomized clinical trial.

Background: Reducing cigarette addictiveness has the potential to avert millions of yearly tobacco-related deaths worldwide. Substantially reducing nicotine in cigarettes decreases cigarette consumption, but no large clinical trial has determined the effects of reduced-nicotine cigarettes when other nicotine-containing products are available. The aim of this study was to examine the effects of reduced-nicotine cigarettes in the context of the availability of alternative nicotine delivery systems.

Distinguishing Pituitary Metastasis and Pituitary Neuroendocrine Tumors through Conventional MR Imaging and Clinical Features.

Background And Purpose: Given their overlapping features, pituitary metastases frequently imitate pituitary neuroendocrine tumors in neuroimaging studies. This study aimed to distinguish pituitary metastases from pituitary neuroendocrine tumors on the basis of conventional MR imaging and clinical features as a practical approach.

Materials And Methods: In this 2-center retrospective study, backward from January 2024, preoperative pituitary MR imaging examinations of 22 pituitary metastases and 74 pituitary neuroendocrine tumors were analyzed.
