We examined the effect of Winter Storm Uri on daily direct-care nurse staffing levels in 1,173 Texas nursing homes (NHs) from February 13 to 19, 2021. We used data from Payroll-Based Journaling and the Care Compare website. Linear mixed effects models were used to estimate the linear and non-linear change in staffing.

Herein, the metabolic and circadian rhythm mechanisms underlying the proposed benefits of intermittent fasting for the cancer population are described. We summarize epidemiological, preclinical, and clinical studies in cancer published between January 2020 and August 2022 and propose avenues for future research.

Impostor phenomenon has gained increasing attention within the health care and health professions education literature. Although consistently depicted as a debilitating socioemotional experience, studies also suggest a strategic aspect to impostor phenomenon - denoting a conceptual ambiguity to impostor phenomenon that has yet to fully examined. Within this paper, we use humility as a conceptual sparring partner with impostor phenomenon to examine the similarities and differences between the concepts, as well as explore the various nuances associated with impostor phenomenon.

Relationship Functioning and Gut Microbiota Composition among Older Adult Couples.

An emerging area of research extends work on couple functioning and physical health to gut health, a critical marker of general health and known to diminish with age. As a foray into this area, we conducted a pilot study to (1) determine the feasibility of remote data collection, including a fecal sample, from older adult couples, (2) examine within-couple concordance in gut microbiota composition, and (3) examine associations between relationship functioning and gut microbiota composition. Couples (N = 30) were recruited from the community.

Emergency Medicine Case Study on Giant Cell Arteritis.

The purpose of this case study on giant cell arteritis (GCA) is to ensure that emergency nurse practitioners (ENPs) are knowledgeable on this disease process to prevent serious complications such as permanent blindness in patients presenting to the emergency department (ED). The case study reviews emergency management of GCA, which includes diagnostic workup, pharmacological treatment, consults, disposition, follow-up care, and when to return to the ED. Methods: In this review, we employ Bronfenbrenner's ecological systems theory as a framework to posit how S/SDOH impact AD/ADRD risk and outcomes.

There is limited understanding of the dynamic interplay between adolescent girl's and young women's (AGYW) disclosure and social support for using oral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and adherence. Towards this, we conducted interviews with 42 AGYW enrolled in The Community PrEP Study who exhibited either high or low blood concentrations of tenofovir-diphosphate (TFV-DP) in dried blood spots. Guided by Theories of Practice, interviews and analysis focused on AGYW perspectives and experiences with PrEP disclosure, support and adherence.
