Social anxiety and depression exacerbate in early adolescence. Maladaptive self-referential processing confers risk for both conditions and can be assessed by the Self-Referent Encoding Task (SRET). Our cross-sectional findings indicated that the SRET-elicited anterior late positive potential (LPP) was uniquely associated with social anxiety symptoms, whereas behavioral SRET scores were uniquely associated with depressive symptoms.

Although evidence from previous studies suggests that adolescents with negative coping styles who experienced victimization are more likely to exhibit depressive symptoms, these associations have not yet been disentangled to separate between-person differences from within-person effects. To investigate the within-person bidirectional relationships among relational victimization, coping styles and depressive symptoms, this study conducted a four-wave random intercept cross-lagged panel model analysis. The final sample consisted of 1506 adolescents, 72.

Genetic Assessment of Living Kidney Transplant Donors: A Survey of Canadian Practices.

Can J Kidney Health Dis

January 2025

Multiorgan Transplant Program, Division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine, McGill University Health Centre, Montreal, QC, Canada.

Background: Kidney failure is a prevalent condition with tendency for familial clustering in up to 27% of the affected individuals. Living kidney donor (LKD) transplantation is the optimal treatment option; however, in Canada, more than 45% of LKDs are biologically related to their recipients which subjects recipients to worse graft survival and donors to higher future risk of kidney failure. Although not fully understood, this observation could be partially explained by genetic predisposition to kidney diseases.

Background: Baseline lung allograft dysfunction (BLAD) after lung transplant is associated with an increased risk of dying, but the association with health-related quality of life (HRQL) and exercise capacity is not known. We hypothesized that BLAD would be associated with reduced HRQL and 6-min walk distance (6MWD) at 1 y post-lung transplant.

Methods: We analyzed patients who underwent lung transplants in our program from 2004 to 2018 who completed 1-y 36-item Short Form (SF-36) questionnaire and 6MWD testing.

Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, Delft University of Technology, 2628 CD, Delft, The Netherlands.

Laboratory experiments were performed to investigate the attenuation of progressive deep-water waves by a mono-layer of loose- and close-packed floating spheres. We measured the decay distance of waves having different incident wave frequency and steepness. The attenuation of waves was strong if the surface concentration of particles was close-packed, with the decay distance being shorter for incident waves with higher frequency and steepness.

Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Chang Gung University, Taoyuan, 333, Taiwan; Clinical Proteomics Core Laboratory, LinKou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taoyuan, 333423, Taiwan. Electronic address:

Background: Tissue metabolomics analysis, alongside genomics and proteomics, offers crucial insights into the regulatory mechanisms of tumorigenesis. To enhance metabolite detection sensitivity, chemical isotope labeling (CIL) techniques, such as dansylation, have been developed to improve metabolite separation and ionization in mass spectrometry (MS). However, the dissolution of hydrophobic derivatized metabolites in solvents with high acetonitrile content limits the use of liquid chromatography (LC) systems with small-volume reversed-phase (RP) columns.

Article Synopsis
  • This study examines how serum metabolite profiles can help understand feed efficiency in lactating Holsteins and identify biomarkers for predicting residual feed intake (RFI).
  • Comparisons were made between high and low RFI cows at different lactation stages, revealing significant differences in various metabolites, especially notable changes in early and mid-lactation.
  • The findings suggest that specific metabolites, like p-Hydroxyhippuric acid and acetylornithine, could serve as effective biomarkers for predicting RFI, with models showing varying predictive accuracy across lactation stages.

The ectoparasitic mite Varroa destructor remains a great threat for the beekeeping industry, for example contributing to excessive winter colony loss in Canada. For decades, beekeepers have sequentially used the registered synthetic varroacides tau-fluvalinate, coumaphos, amitraz, and flumethrin, leading to the risk of resistance evolution in the mites. In addition to the widespread resistance to coumaphos and pyrethroids, a decline in amitraz efficacy has recently been reported in numerous beekeeping regions in Canada.
