Comparison of Tissue and Urine Microbiota in Male, Intervention Naive Patients with and without Non-Invasive Bladder Cancer.

Introduction: To investigate the presence of dysbiosis in patients with naive bladder cancer.

Methods: Twelve male patients with non-invasive bladder cancer and twelve age-matched healthy males had midstream urine and tissue samples taken. A history of endourological interventions was determined as an exclusion criterion, ensuring that the study was designed solely with naïve participants.

Evaluation of androgen receptor and androgen receptor splice-variant 7 in bladder cancer; a novel approach into an ancient topic.

Purpose: The contribution of androgen receptors (AR) on bladder cancer has been demonstrated in pre-clinical studies, however in clinical studies, only the canonical AR (AR-FL) protein was measured by immunohistochemistry and conflicting results were obtained. To get better insight into the alterations of AR signalling, we used western blotting (WB) method and simultaneously measured both mRNA and protein levels of AR-FL and AR-V7.

Methods: 23 naive non-muscle invasive bladder cancer patients and 12 healthy individuals were included.

The effect of combining physiotherapy with dry needling in patients with cervical spondylosis: A randomized controlled trial.

Background: There are no data on the additional contribution of dry needling (DN) for trigger points (TPs) accompanying patients with cervical spondylosis (CS).

Objective: To analyse the contribution of DN applied to concomitant active TPs in the upper trapezius muscle on the treatment outcomes of physiotherapy in CS.

Materials And Methods: A total of 160 patients who underwent unilateral total knee arthroplasty surgery at Edirne State Hospital between 2016 and 2020 were divided into four groups. The estimated blood loss and amount of blood loss from drainage, as well as transfusion rates, were compared between the groups based on surgical pre- and post-operative blood parameters to evaluate the dose effectiveness.

Neutrophil to Lymphocyte Ratio and Serum Biomarkers : A Potential Tool for Prediction of Clinically Relevant Cerebral Vasospasm after Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage.

Objective: Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a condition characterized by bleeding in the subarachnoid space, often resulting from the rupture of a cerebral aneurysm. Delayed cerebral ischemia caused by vasospasm is a significant cause of mortality and morbidity in SAH patients, and inflammatory markers such as systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI), systemic inflammatory index (SII), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and derived NLR (dNLR) have shown potential in predicting clinical vasospasm and outcomes in SAH patients. This article aims to investigate the relationship between inflammatory markers and cerebral vasospasm after aneurysmatic SAH (aSAH) and evaluate the predictive value of various indices, including SIRI, SII, NLR, and dNLR, in predicting clinical vasospasm.

Objective: Fibromyalgia is one of the most important problems, especially for women. Studies point to disorders in the sexual functions of fibromyalgia patients that reduce their quality of life. A novel biomarker in acute cholecystitis: YKL-40.

Background: The lack of a specific biomarker that can be used in the diagnosis of acute cholecystitis, a common cause of admission to the emergency department, delays physician efforts to diagnose and treat these patients. Therefore, the aim of this study was to measure plasma YKL-40 levels and investigate their diagnostic value in patients with acute cholecystitis (AC).

Methods: This study was carried out between February 2020 and September 2020 in the adult emergency department of a tertiary university hospital.

Objective: In our study, we aimed to investigate the levels of irisin, nesfatin-1 and the relationship between levels of these relatively new molecules with cardiometabolic risk markers; carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT), epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) thickness in patients with nonfunctional adrenal incidentaloma (NFAI).

Materials And Methods: Patients with NFAI (n=59) and age, sex and body mass index-matched healthy control subjects (n=59) were enrolled in this study. Serum glucose, insulin, C-reactive protein (CRP), lipid, irisin and nesfatin-1 levels and echocardiographic CIMT and EAT thickness measurements were performed in patients and controls.

Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome (PJS) is a rare autosomal dominant disorder which is characterized by hyperpigmentation in mucocutaneous membranes and hamartomatous polyps in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT). Common complications reported in patients with PSJ are bleeding and mechanical intestinal obstruction due to the hamartomatous polyps. There is also an increased risk of gastrointestinal and extra-intestinal malignancies in patients with PJS.

Stabilization Period for Central Corneal Thickness, Anterior Chamber Depth, and Iridocorneal Angle Parameters After Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty in Keratoconus Patients.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to assess the stabilization of anatomical outcomes of central corneal thickness (CCT), anterior chamber depth (ACD), and iridocorneal angle (ICA) in keratoconus-affected eyes after deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK).

Methods: Keratoconus patients who underwent DALK surgery at Beyoğlu Eye Training and Research Hospital between January 2013 and May 2015 were retrospectively analyzed. Patients with data recorded preoperatively, 1 month postoperatively, and 1, 6, and 12 months post suture removal, including refractive status, best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), CCT, ACD, and ICA parameters were included in the study.

Factors affecting the mortality rate of patients with cancer hospitalized with COVID-19: a single center's experience.

The main objective is to define the mortality of patients with cancer admitted to our hospital, their clinical and demographic characteristics, investigate the risk of COVID-19 for patients with cancer, and determine factors that affect the mortality rates of patients with cancer dying of COVID-19. A total of 2401 patients were admitted to our hospital with the diagnosis of COVID-19 from March 11th, 2020, to May 31st, 2020. Ninety-two out of a total of 112 cancer patients were included in this study based on the planned inclusion/exclusion criteria.

Methods: One hundred and one patients (62 males, 39 females) over 40 years of age (mean age 72±11 years) median 73 (65-81), min- max (46-96), with Framingham risk scores of 10% or higher, and scheduled for surgical interventions in the orthopedics and urology departments of our hospital were included in the study.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the success of the all-inside repair technique for medial bucket-handle meniscus tear (BHMT) and the factors affecting healing. A total of 36 patients with BHMT who were operated between 2012 and 2018 and completed final follow-up examinations were included in the study. Functional evaluation was made with the International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) score, Lysholm score, and Tegner score.
