The recommended treatment strategy for stage 3 bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) is currently rigid plate fixation without bone reconstruction. However, a recent systematic review indicated the utility of microsurgical reconstruction after resection of BRONJ. Several types of flaps have been described but their applications are controversial.

The application of navigation and endoscope is an area of intense interest in the surgical repair of orbital fractures. This study explored the advantages of a combined endoscopy navigation technique (ENT) for repairing large orbital floor and medial wall fractures (OFMWFs) with destruction of the inferomedial strut (IMS). Fifty-two consecutive patients with large OFMWFs with the destruction of the IMS underwent ENT-assisted surgical repair from January 2013 to February 2016.

Introduction: To report our experience with lateral eyelid island flaps for reconstruction of large central and medial full-thickness defects of lower eyelid.
Methods: Retrospective case series of patients with large central and medial full-thickness lower lid defects repaired with medial transposition of the lateral lower lid combined with a temporal myocutaneous flap. Preoperatively the authors collected demographic data, etiology and percentage of the defects.

Background: Lacrimal canalicular laceration can be caused by trauma on the ocular adnexa, such as penetrating or blunt injuries, accounting for approximately 16% of eyelid lacerations and 20% of eye traumas. Historically, canalicular anastomosis combined with bi-canalicular or mono-canalicular stent intubation has been used for canalicular laceration repair. In this study, we analyzed the epidemiological characteristics of lacrimal canalicular laceration and evaluate the clinical outcomes of repair using the bi-canalicular stent in central China.

Background/objectives: Adverse effects of topical glaucoma medications (TGMs) may include development of ocular adnexal disorders. We undertook a study to determine the effect of TGMs on the risk of developing lacrimal drainage obstruction (LDO) and eyelid malposition.
Subjects/methods: All patients 66 years of age and older in Ontario, Canada initiating TGM and all patients diagnosed with glaucoma/suspected glaucoma but not receiving TGM from 2002 to 2018 were eligible for inclusion in this retrospective cohort study.

Purpose: To describe a simple and minimally invasive technique using double-frequency YAG laser for correction of mild medial lower eyelid ectropion with punctal eversion and assess the efficacy of the technique by measuring the tear film meniscus pre- and post-laser treatment using imageJ software.
Methods: This study included 23 eyes of 19 patients with lower eyelid ectropion with punctal eversion. All patients were treated by double-frequency YAG laser applied to lower medial conjunctiva.

Purpose: To our knowledge, there have been no previous reports that investigate trends in ophthalmology residents' exposure to oculoplastic procedures without Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) minimum requirements. To fill this knowledge gap, we investigated publicly available ACGME ophthalmology residency case logs from 2009 to 2021.
Methods: National resident averages and standard deviations were collected for the following oculoplastic procedures without minimum ACGME requirements: eye removal and implant, lacrimal surgery, other orbital surgery (e.

Importance: Despite persistent inequalities in access to eye care services globally, guidance on a set of recommended, evidence-based eye care interventions to support country health care planning has not been available. To overcome this barrier, the World Health Organization (WHO) Package of Eye Care Interventions (PECI) has been developed.
Objective: To describe the key outcomes of the PECI development.

Background: Subperiosteal midface lift provides a comprehensive solution to the soft tissue component of midfacial aging. However, midfacial aging also has a skeletal component that is rarely addressed with conventional mid-facelift techniques. Moreover, many of the adverse outcomes after a mid-facelift are closely related to failures and limitations of mid-face fixation.

This study was conducted to simulate salpingitis of laying hens by observing the morphology and expression of inflammatory genes in the oviduct. A total of one hundred twenty 81-wk-old Roman Pink laying hens in good physical condition without the oviduct disease with an average egg production rate of 76% were fed a basal diet for 2 wks and then randomly allocated into 4 groups (6 replicates/group, 5 birds/replicate). The experimental treatments were as follows: 1) Control group (treated with PBS); 2) Organic chemical reagent (OCR) group; 3) Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) group; 4) LPS + OCR group.

Background: Cicatricial ectropion can be corrected by invasive surgical modalities such as full-thickness skin graft, lateral tarsal strip procedure, etc., which are associated with donor site morbidity and additional scars. Use of autologous fat graft (AFG) in treatment of burn scars has previously shown encouraging clinical results as to skin color, texture, and softness.

Lower eyelid malposition (LEM) is a common sequela after orbital fracture reconstruction. This study aimed to analyse the development of LEM, specifically ectropion and entropion, following primary orbital fracture reconstruction, to identify predictive factors for LEM, and to assess the effect of the eyelid complication on patients' daily lives. The retrospective cohort comprised patients who had undergone orbital floor and/or medial wall fracture reconstruction for recent trauma.

Purpose: Crocodile tears syndrome is a rare autonomic synkinesia, in which patients tear excessively in response to salivary stimuli. It usually occurs after idiopathic or traumatic facial palsy, as a result of aberrant reinnervation of the lacrimal gland by salivary efferent fibers from either the seventh or ninth cranial nerve.
Patients And Methods: We report the case of a 54-year-old woman, with a history of left Bell's palsy, who attended our ophthalmology clinic due to epiphora of the left eye while eating or speaking, for 6 months.
Postblepharoplasty ectropion is a very complex problem to deal with because its relevance is far to be only a functional complaint. Therefore, the best surgical approach requires both aesthetic and functional consideration. Here, we introduce the absorbable suture anchor technique, which can meet both needs, and its surgical procedure is simple and effective and has excellent stability for long-term results.

Background: Maxillary reconstructive surgery with fibula free flaps (FFFs) is a challenging procedure for head and neck surgeons. However, virtual surgical planning (VSP) and three-dimensional (3D) printing technologies have contributed to improved functional and aesthetic outcomes. The objective of this report is to demonstrate VSP/3D application in reconstruction of maxillary defects using the FFF by describing the different configurations available.
