Background: Tumor metastasis to bone is a critical and painful stage in cancer progression, significantly affecting patients' quality of life. Traditional treatments for bone neuropathic pain often exhibit limited efficacy and undesirable side effects. Sophora flavescens, an herb used in traditional Chinese medicine, has shown potential analgesic and anti-cancer properties, but the existing evidence is fragmented and inconsistent.

Objective: Maternal vitamin D deficiency is a prevalent public health issue worldwide. While isolated reports from certain cities in China have highlighted the existence of maternal vitamin D deficiency, no nationwide investigation has been conducted on this topic. Therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis and systematic review to examine the prevalence and associated influencing factors of maternal vitamin D deficiency in mainland China.

Background: Gastric cancer (GC) is a prevalent malignant tumor of the gastrointestinal (GI) system. However, the lack of reliable biomarkers has made its diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment challenging. Immunogenic cell death (ICD) is a type of programmed cell death that is strongly related to the immune system.

Ileostomy creation is a common procedure to mitigate postoperative complications in Crohn's disease (CD) patients. However, the optimal timing for ileostomy closure remains controversial. This study aims to investigate whether delayed ileostomy closure (> 6 months post formation) affects postoperative complications compared to early closure (≤ 6 months post formation).

Purpose: Stoma creation is a common procedure in patients with Crohn's disease (CD), and early prophylaxis with biologics is recommended for high-risk patients. However, the effect of biologic exposure on morbidity after stoma closure remains unknown. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the impact of biologic use on the occurrence of complications in CD patients following stoma closure.

Purpose: This study presents a novel approach to predict postoperative biochemical recurrence (BCR) in prostate cancer (PCa) patients which involves constructing a signature based on anoikis-related genes (ARGs).
Methods: In this study, we utilised data from TCGA-PARD and GEO databases to identify specific ARGs in prostate cancer. We established a signature of these ARGs using Cox regression analysis and evaluated their clinical predictive efficacy and immune-related status through various methods such as Kaplan-Meier survival analysis, subject work characteristics analysis, and CIBERSORT method.

The progression of gastric cancer (GC) is closely related to tumor immune escape. The research, therefore, studied the impact of possible circRNAs on the immune escape of GC tumors and the underlying mechanisms. Here, to explore circRNAs that may affect GC, the differential circRNAs in six normal gastric mucosal tissues and six GC samples (GSM2005868-GSM2005879) were analyzed through the bioinformatics website circmine, and hsa_circ_0076092 (circSCUBE3) was identified as the research object.

To explore the potential significance of the reverberation of calcification by comparing both intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) measurement post manual coregistration. The reverberation phenomenon is often detected by IVUS for severe calcified lesions post rotational atherectomy (RA), which is thought to be due to the glassy and smooth inner surfaces of calcifications. Because of the poor penetration of IVUS, it is impossible to measure the thickness of calcifications, and the relationship between multiple reverberations and the thickness of calcification lesions has not been reported before.

First-line chemotherapy for advanced/metastatic human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative gastric/gastroesophageal junction cancer (GC/GEJC) has poor median overall survival (OS; <1 year). We report efficacy and safety results from Chinese patients in the phase III global CheckMate 649 study of nivolumab plus chemotherapy vs chemotherapy for the first-line treatment of GC/GEJC/esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC). Chinese patients with previously untreated advanced or metastatic GC/GEJC/EAC were randomized to receive nivolumab (360 mg Q3W or 240 mg Q2W) plus chemotherapy (XELOX [capecitabine and oxaliplatin] Q3W or FOLFOX [oxaliplatin, leucovorin and 5-fluorouracil] Q2W), nivolumab plus ipilimumab (not reported) or chemotherapy alone.

Recent advances in systemic and locoregional treatments for patients with unresectable or advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have resulted in improved response rates. This has provided an opportunity for selected patients with initially unresectable HCC to achieve adequate tumor downstaging to undergo surgical resection, a 'conversion therapy' strategy. However, conversion therapy is a new approach to the treatment of HCC and its practice and treatment protocols are still being developed.
