Objective: Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an emerging infectious disease with high mortality rate, especially SFTS combined with central neurological complications. The purpose of this study was to explore risk factors of central neurological complications in SFTS patients.
Methods: In this retrospective study, SFTS patients admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University between January 2017 and December 2021 were enrolled.

To explore the genetic characteristics and evolution of hantavirus carried by rodents in port area of Ningde in Fujian province in the summer of 2020. Rodents were captured in the port area of Ningde, the RNA was extracted from rodent lung tissues and detected by using specific kit. The positive samples were used for whole-genome sequencing of the virus.

Background: KIR/HLA-C signaling pathway influences the innate immune response which is the first defense to hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. The aim of this study was to determine the association between the genetic polymorphisms of genes and the outcomes of HCV infection in a high-risk Chinese population.
Methods: In this case-control study, four single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of genes (// rs35440472, rs2308557, rs1130838, and rs2524094) were genotyped by TaqMan assay among drug users and hemodialysis (HD) patients including 1,378 uninfected control cases, 307 subjects with spontaneous viral clearance, and 217 patients with persistent HCV infection.

Direct-acting antiviral (DAA) treatment for 8 weeks has a sustained virological response rate in adults with chronic hepatitis C. We have conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare the efficacy and safety of the 8-week vs. 12/24-week DAA treatment in adolescents and children with CHC.

Background: The tumor necrosis factor superfamily () and TNF receptor superfamily () play important roles in the immune responses to infections. The aim of this study was to determine the impact of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of several genes on the risk of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in the Chinese high-risk population.
Methods: The -rs1234313, -rs7514229, -rs3181366, -rs2295800, -rs2298209, and -rs2230625 SNPs were genotyped in 2309 uninfected controls, 597 subjects with spontaneous HCV clearance and 784 patients with persistent HCV infection using the TaqMan-MGB assay.

Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) is caused by hantavirus (HV) infection, and is prevalent across Europe and Asia (mainly China). The genetic variation and wide host range of the HV family may lead to vaccine failure. In this study, we analyzed the gene sequences of HV isolated from different regions of China in order to trace the molecular evolution of HV and the epidemiological trends of HFRS.

Dabieshan tick virus (DBV) belongs to Phlebovirus and its pathogenicity to human and animals is unknown. To investigate the presence of Dabieshan tick virus in Zhoushan, 353 ticks were collected from May 2018 to October 2019. The detection result showed that the average prevalence rate among these samples was 30.

Background: The Fas cell surface death receptor (FAS) and Fas ligand (FASL) can participate in the apoptosis of immune cells and target cells infected with a virus through the FAS-FASL signalling pathway. The decoy receptor 3 (DCR3) can competitively inhibit the binding of FAS to FASL. Our aim is to investigate the effect of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in and on hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection.

Bats are associated with several important zoonotic viruses from different families. One example includes adeno-associated viruses (AAVs), that are extensively detected in several animals, especially primates. To understand AAVs distribution and genetic diversity in the coastal areas of Southeast China, a total of 415 intestine samples were mostly collected from two provinces of southeast China, i.

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections are a serious global-scaled public health problem. Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)/lymphotoxin alpha (LTA) has been found to play a crucial role in relation to the outcomes of HCV infection after it binds to TNF receptor superfamily member 1A (TNFRSF1A). Thus, we investigated whether or not the gene cluster and gene polymorphisms were associated with the outcomes of HCV infection.

To investigate the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily 1B gene (TNFRSF1B) polymorphism in relation to the outcomes of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. One thousand six hundred and forty-five cases without HCV infection, 545 cases with HCV clearance, and 783 cases with chronic HCV infection were enrolled. TaqMan probe method was used to investigate genotype rs1061622 (T > G) and rs1061624 (G > A).

Host genetic polymorphism is one of major unalterable major factors for HCV infection. NF-κB proteins play multiple roles in immune response and involve in HCV infection and progression. This study was conducted to explore the relationship between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in NF-κB pathway and the susceptibility as well as resolution of HCV infection.
