Background: To find out the incidence of vitamin D deficiency in autoimmune hypothyroidism and the correlation between vitamin D and anti-TPO antibodies.

Methods: This observational study was undertaken in the Biochemistry Department of ESI-PGIMSR & Model Hospital Andheri Mumbai from March 2015 to September 2015. Vitamin D and anti-TPO levels of 101 known cases of hypothyroidism were measured on a Cobas e411.

Case Series on Four Treated Cases of Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma in Children.

We report four cases of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma treated successfully with multimodality therapy which included surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Our first case was a 2 year old who admitted with the chief complaint of swelling of the upper lip. Biopsy was taken, which showed embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma.

Intra-Operative Dermoscopy in Assessment of Melanonychia and as a Guide for Biopsy.

Background And Aims: Melanonychia can be a manifestation of benign or malignant pathology and often poses a diagnostic challenge on clinical examination. Even with distinguishing dermoscopic features (nail plate), it can be quite difficult to determine the nature of pigmentation as complete assessment of nail bed and matrix is still not possible. Intraoperative dermoscopy (IOD) can serve as a useful tool to appreciate the bed and matrix changes.

Recurrent Molar in Five Consecutive Pregnancies - A Case Report.

Recurrent molar pregnancy is very rare. In this case report, we highlight a case of a patient who experienced five recurrent molar pregnancies without an intervening normal pregnancy. A 22-year-old patient was admitted to our labour room with a fifth consecutive molar pregnancy.

A novel procedure of endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration for pulmonary parenchymal lesions: The ZUTAM technique.

Convex probe-endobronchial ultrasound (CP-EBUS) has been proven to be safe and accurate for identifying malignancy and granulomatous disease affecting the mediastinum and hilum. CP-EBUS can be used for intraparenchymal lesions also and has been shown to be efficacious. A subset of lesions particularly suited for CP-EBUS are those completely surrounded by lung parenchyma, centrally located, and typically close to but without an airway leading directly to them.

Atypical Presentation of Sweat Dermatitis with Review of Literature.

Sweat dermatitis is a peculiar kind of irritant inflammatory dermatoses occurring due to prolonged exposure of retained sweat over the skin. Ophthalmic medications used for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes are common causes of allergic contact dermatitis around the eyes. We report a case of periocular allergic contact dermatitis due to tropicamide and phenylephrine eye drops in a 1-year-old infant.

Comparative study of fiber-optic guided tracheal intubation through intubating laryngeal mask airway LMA Fastrach™ and i-gel in adult paralyzed patients.

Background: The i-gel is a novel and innovative supraglottic airway management device used both as an airway rescue device and as a conduit for fiberoptic intubation. In this prospective randomized study, we compared fiberoptic-guided tracheal intubation through the i-gel and LMA Fastrach™ in adult paralyzed patients.

Materials And Methods: After ethical committee approval and written informed consent, 60 patients of either sex were randomly allocated to either group of supraglottic airway device (SGAD).

A Rare Variety of Takayasu Arteritis.

We diagnosed a case of Takayasu arteritis (TA) involving subclavian arteries, the aorta, superior mesenteric artery and renal arteries presenting with stenotic, occlusive, and aneurysmal lesions along with mural thrombus, which responded well to ATD and steroids. We report this case as a rare combination of vascular lesions in a patient with a relatively rare variant of TA.

A "triple whammy" in adenocarcinoma lung.

Osimertinib (AZD9291), a third-generation epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-tyrosine-kinase inhibitor (TKI), is useful in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer who show resistance to first-generation EGFR-TKIs and harbor T790M mutation. Acquisition of resistance to osimertinib due to several mechanisms has been reported. We report the first case of an Indian patient with osimertinib resistance, due to C797S mutation.

Esophageal ultrasound with ultrasound bronchoscope (EUS-B) guided transvascular needle aspiration (TVNA).

We have described a 67-year-old man, diagnosed to have adenocarcinoma of lung by transvascular approach with esophageal ultrasound using ultrasound bronchoscope (EUS-B). To the best of our knowledge this is the first case where EUS-B has been used for transvascular fine needle aspiration cytology to diagnose lung carcinoma.
