Introduction: Metallosis, characterized by the collection of metallic debris in periarticular tissues, is primarily associated with metal-on-metal bearings in hip arthroplasty. This report presents a rare case of metallosis after metal-on-polyethylene (MoP) total hip arthroplasty (THA), highlighting diagnostic challenges and management strategies. Metallosis following MoP arthroplasty is extremely rare, with only a limited number of documented cases in the literature.

Training on empathy skills for elderly persons to medical undergraduates: A quasi-experimental study.

Introduction: Undergraduate medical students often lack the soft skill of empathy which is considered as an important attribute for doctors. Hence, this study was conducted to improve the empathy skills among undergraduate students of a medical college in Kolkata.

Introduction: Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a chronic, inflammatory disease of the axial spine characterized by the involvement of the spine and sacroiliac (SI) joints. Identification of Middle Mesial Canal in Mandibular Molars Using Five Different Techniques: An Study.

Aim: The purpose of the study was to find out the incidence of the middle mesial canal in mandibular molars by using five different techniques.

Materials And Methods: A total of 150 extracted human mandibular first molars were selected, and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images were taken. Then, conventional access cavities were made, followed by troughing under dental loupes (3X), and were also examined under a dental operating microscope (DOM) (6X).

Background: Occupational lung diseases (OLDs) contribute a significant proportion to the global burden of pulmonary morbidities but are grossly misdiagnosed due to the relative lack of attribution given to occupational exposures. Obstructive lung diseases are known to be associated with long-lasting disability and loss of earning capacity (LOEC) among workers in industrial setups, thus reducing nationwide productivity.

The Efficacy of LRINEC Scoring in Patients with Necrotizing Fasciitis and its Correlation with the Outcomes.

To aid diagnosis, the Laboratory Risk Indicator for Necrotizing Fasciitis (LRINEC) scoring system was devised to stratify the likelihood of infection in patients on presentation.</br> <b><br>Aim:</b> The study aimed to investigate and quantify the relationships between the LRINEC scoring system and the outcomes such as the need for amputation, length of hospital stay, and mortality in patients with necrotizing fasciitis.

No Clear Difference in Clinical Outcomes Between Knotted and Knotless Arthroscopic Bankart Repair: A Systematic Review.

Purpose: To analyze whether the arthroscopic Bankart repair using a knotless suture anchor has a better functional outcome than the conventional knot-tying Bankart repair.

Methods: A comprehensive literature search was done in the PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and Cochrane databases in May 2023. Studies comparing the clinical outcome of Bankart repair using knotless and knot-tying techniques were included in the study.

Dermato-Radiological Evaluation of Congenital Limb Overgrowth Vascular Syndromes.

International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies classification defines Congenital Limb Overgrowth Vascular Syndromes (CLOS) as a subset of vascular syndromes with other abnormalities that present with unilateral limb overgrowth. It includes Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome, Parkes-Weber Syndrome, CLOVES (Congenital Lipomatous Overgrowth, Vascular Malformations, Epidermal Nevi, Spinal/Skeletal Anomalies/Scoliosis) Syndrome, Proteus Syndrome, PTEN Hamartomatous Syndrome, and Fibroadipose Vascular Anomaly. Due to their rare and complex nature, a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and treatment is required.

Neurological emergencies masquerading as psychiatric disturbances detected by neuroimaging in individuals with pre-existing mental illness: A case series.

Certain clinical features, like changes in presentation, the presence of neurological signs, and a poor response to treatment, mandate an organic evaluation of psychiatric illnesses. In this case series, four cases with established mental illnesses who presented with psychiatric symptoms, on evaluation by neuroimaging, were found to have neurological disorders like neurocysticercosis, sub-arachnoid hemorrhage, sub-dural hemorrhage, and lacunar infarction. They were managed with a combination of medical and surgical treatment and psychotropics, and no relapse of symptoms was noted at follow-up.

NCCP-ICS joint consensus-based clinical practice guidelines on medical thoracoscopy.

Medical Thoracoscopy (MT) is commonly performed by respiratory physicians for diagnostic as well as therapeutic purposes. The aim of the study was to provide evidence-based information regarding all aspects of MT, both as a diagnostic tool and therapeutic aid for pulmonologists across India. The consensus-based guidelines were formulated based on a multistep process using a set of 31 questions.

Follow-up study of COVID-19 sequelae (FOSCO study).

Introduction: We undertook the first study from India to evaluate the long-term health effects of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Methods: The patients enrolled in our post-COVID-19 clinic were followed up for assessment at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months after recovery from acute disease prospectively.

A Prospective Study of Surgical Site Infection with its Risk Factors and Their Correlation with the NNIS Risk Index.

Background: Surgical site infection (SSI) is the third most commonly reported nosocomial infection, accounting for 10%-40% of all nosocomial infections and is a major cause of postoperative morbidity. Knowledge of factors related to SSI can help in reducing its incidence and related morbidity, which in many studies is shown to account for 38% of all infections in surgical patients. Lack of extending nosocomial infection surveillance programme and prevention measures in countries like India is viewed as a major challenge for the future.
