Background And Aims: Predicting the treatment outcomes of biological therapies is an unmet need in Crohn's Disease. In this study, we explored the potential of serum neutrophil-related biomarkers to predict infliximab therapeutic results and disease progression in Crohn's Disease patients, over a 2-year period, in a real-world setting.
Methods: The study included 100 asymptomatic Crohn's Disease patients in the IFX maintenance phase from the prospective, observational, multicenter DIRECT study.

Background: Nonprimary osteochondral lesions of the talus (OLT) pose a significant challenge in orthopaedics, with no definitive consensus on optimal surgical treatment.
Purpose: To consolidate the most recent evidence on operative treatments for nonprimary OLT by assessing patient-reported outcomes (PROs), postoperative complications, and clinical failures.
Study Design: Systematic review; Level of evidence, 4.

Stereotactic biopsies are essential for obtaining accurate histopathological analysis to guide treatment decisions for deep-seated brain lesions. Manually guided methods, while commonly used and highly precise, can be limited by potential inaccuracies and insufficient tissue sampling. The emerging robot-assisted (RA) techniques offer enhanced precision and could address these limitations for improved accuracy.

Background And Objective: The role of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-based positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) in addition to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for local staging of prostate cancer (PC) has been poorly addressed so far. Our aim was to assess the diagnostic accuracy of PSMA PET/CT and MRI, alone and combined, for detection of extraprostatic extension (EPE) and seminal vesicle invasion (SVI) in PC.
Methods: We conducted a multicenter retrospective study evaluating patients undergoing PSMA PET/CT and MRI before radical prostatectomy.

Background: Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is a common genetic disorder of phenotypic variability with age-dependent penetrance. This study describes the diagnosis, clinical characterization, management, and outcomes of a large patient cohort with plexiform neurofibroma (PN) treated with selumetinib in a real-world clinical setting.
Methods: This single-center observational study consecutively enrolled patients with NF1-PN treated with selumetinib from April 2018 to 2023.

Introduction: Leptin and ghrelin are two hormones that play a role in weight homeostasis. Leptin, which is produced primarily by adipocytes and is dependent on body fat mass, suppresses appetite and increases energy expenditure. Conversely, ghrelin is the "hunger hormone", it stimulates appetite and promotes fat storage.

For binocular stereo matching techniques, the most advanced method currently is using an iterative structure based on GRUs. Methods in this class have shown high performance on both high-resolution images and standard benchmarks. However, simply replacing cost aggregation with a GRU iterative method leads to the original cost volume for disparity calculation lacking non-local geometric and contextual information.

: Incidence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) is increasing in low- and middle-income countries because of changing lifestyles. Since dyslipidaemia is a major independent cardiovascular risk factor, its correct identification is critical to implement specific interventions for CVD prevention. This study aimed to characterise the lipid profile of the Portuguese population.

: Despite advances in the surgical management of patients with Fontan circulation, their exercise capacity and quality of life remain significantly impaired. Exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation (CR) offers promising improvements in these areas, but the implementation and adherence to these programmes are often inconsistent. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the safety, efficacy, and optimal exercise modalities for Fontan patients.

Unlabelled: Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by the progressive degeneration of dopaminergic neurons, leading to a range of motor and non-motor symptoms.
Background/objectives: Over the past decade, studies have identified a potential link between the microbiome and PD pathophysiology. The literature suggests that specific bacterial communities from the gut, oral, and nasal microbiota may be involved in neuroinflammatory processes, which are hallmarks of PD.

European countries have included healthcare workers (HCWs) among priority groups for COVID-19 vaccination. We established a multi-country hospital network to measure the SARS-CoV-2 incidence and effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines among HCWs against laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection. HCWs from 19 hospitals in 10 countries participated in a dynamic prospective cohort study, providing samples for SARS-CoV-2 testing at enrolment and during weekly/fortnightly follow-up.

Despite the considerable success of deep learning methods in stereo matching for binocular images, the generalizability and robustness of these algorithms, particularly under challenging conditions such as occlusions or degraded infrared textures, remain uncertain. This paper presents a novel deep-learning-based depth optimization method that obviates the need for large infrared image datasets and adapts seamlessly to any specific infrared camera. Moreover, this adaptability extends to standard binocular images, allowing the method to work effectively on both infrared and visible light stereo images.

Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common non-skin malignancy among men and the fourth leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally. Accurate staging of PCa, particularly the assessment of extra-prostatic extension (EPE), is critical for prognosis and treatment planning. EPE, typically evaluated using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), is associated with higher risks of positive surgical margins, biochemical recurrence, metastasis, and reduced overall survival.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA fundamental characteristic of extreme precipitation events (EPEs) is their horizontal scale. This horizontal scale can influence the intensity of an EPE through its effect on the timescale of an EPE as well as its effect on the strength of convective feedbacks. Thus, to have confidence in future projections of extreme precipitation, the horizontal scales of EPEs in global climate models (GCMs) should be evaluated.

Background: Palliative care (PC) has the potential to alleviate suffering and enhance quality of life for patients with serious progressive diseases; however, access to PC remains unequal across different populations.
Objective: This scoping review aimed to systematically examine the literature on: (1) the primary contributors to inequity in accessing PC; (2) the key barriers to achieving equitable access to PC; (3) the essential recommendations for addressing these issues.
Methods: The PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase databases were searched for English-language articles published since 2017.
