This article describes the surgical treatment of superior semicircular canal dehiscence syndrome (SCDS) by isolating the dehiscence using transmastoid two-point canal plugging while preserving the high-frequency vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) of the affected semicircular canal. The superior semicircular canal is opened via a transmastoid approach anterior (as far from the ampulla as possible) and posterior to the dehiscence and then plugged with connective tissue and bone dust. In two clinical exemplary cases, vestibular testing showed that the VOR measured by video head impulse (vHIT) test was preserved (patient 1: gain preoperative 0.

Purpose: This study examined the contribution of voice to the self via implicit associations.
Method: An implicit association test (IAT) of the voice and the self was created and presented to vocal performers and community controls. One-hundred eleven participants completed this voice-self IAT, the Vocal Congruence Scale (VCS), and the Voice Handicap Index (VHI) via an in-person, monitored, and timed Qualtrics survey.

Background/aim: Xerostomia following (chemo-) radiotherapy (CRT) is common in head and neck (HNC) patients. This prospective study focused on investigating the link between salivary gland function and the onset of malnutrition in HNC patients.
Patients And Methods: Between 2018 and 2020, 61 HNC patients scheduled for curative CRT were prospectively recruited.

Allergic rhinitis and asthma are commonly coexisting conditions, significantly impacting patient health and quality of life. Despite their interrelation, diagnosing allergic rhinitis in patients with asthma remains challenging, leading to underdiagnosis and suboptimal management. The expert consensus engaged a modified Delphi method involving 29 experts including pulmonologists, ear, nose, and throat surgeons, and allergologists.

Purpose: In long-term follow-up, it remains uncertain whether tonsillectomy, a procedure associated with significant comorbidity, can be substituted with partial tonsillectomy in patients with recurrent tonsillitis. This paper is to present the 5-year follow-up data of our previous study titled "Total versus subtotal tonsillectomy for recurrent tonsillitis-a prospective randomized noninferiority clinical trial."
Materials And Methods: The underlying study was performed as single-blinded prospective noninferiority procedure in patients with recurrent chronic tonsil infection, where one side was removed completely (tonsillectomy) and the other side partially (intracapsular/partial tonsillectomy).

Hypoglossal nerve stimulation (HNS) emerged as an alternative treatment for patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) a decade ago. Long-term clinical trials and real-world data show that HNS treatment provides significant and sustained improvements in both OSA disease control and quality-of-life measures over time. Given the nature of HNS treatment, with the requirement of using an implantable neurostimulation system, patient safety is a critical domain in the assessment of this technology.

Background: Sinonasal mucosal melanoma (SNMM) is a rare but aggressive tumor with a poor prognosis. The co-inhibitory receptors T cell immunoglobulin and mucinodomain containing-3 (TIM-3), lymphocyte activation gene-3 (LAG-3) and T cell immunoglobulin and immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motif domain (TIGIT) are promising new targets in anti-cancer immunotherapy. The expression profiles of these immune checkpoint molecules (ICMs) and potential prognostic implications have not been characterized in SNMM yet.

Purpose: The diagnostic workup for assessment of sleep disorders commonly involves overnight testing to assess sleep patterns and pathological events. So far, little is known about preferences for provision of home sleep tests to patients with sleep disorders. This study aims to close this gap by eliciting preferences for home sleep testing using a discrete choice experiment (DCE).

Purpose: Maxillary sinus carcinomas usually present as a locally advanced disease at the time of diagnosis and it is extremely unusual to have a second primary maxillary carcinoma on the contralateral side after many years of completion of treatment of the first malignancy. We present here a case report of a sphenopalatine artery (SPA) pseudoaneurysm mimicking the second primary maxillary carcinoma.
Methods: We reviewed the literature for SPA pseudoaneurysm.

Background: Commonly used endoscopic nasal polyp grading scales have been shown to correlate poorly with symptom scores and quality of life metrics. The recently described Postoperative Polyp Scale (POPS) is a grading system that more accurately characterizes polyp recurrence in postoperative sinus cavities by describing incremental recurrence in relation to the surgically opened sinus cavities.
Objective: The objective of this study was to determine if the POPS correlated with sinonasal symptoms.

Objective: To assess the long-term safety and effectiveness of temperature-controlled radiofrequency (TCRF) neurolysis of the posterior nasal nerve (PNN), a minimally invasive treatment for chronic rhinitis.
Methods: A prospective, single-arm study of 129 patients at 16 centers (United States, Germany) was conducted. Patient-reported outcome measures were the 24-h reflective total nasal symptom score (rTNSS) and mini rhinoconjunctivitis quality of life questionnaire (MiniRQLQ).

Purpose: Hyposmia in childhood is poorly characterized. The "U-Sniff Test", validated for children with anosmia, can be used to objectify olfactory impairment but has not been used to distinguish between hyposmia and normosmia. Therefore, we investigated children with enlarged adenoids with respect to hyposmia, its correlation with adenoid size, and the sensitivity of questionnaires to predict olfactory impairment.

Background: Breathing-synchronized hypoglossal nerve stimulation (HNS) is routinely used as an alternative treatment for patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Significant and clinically relevant improvements in disease severity and OSA symptoms such as daytime sleepiness as well as overall quality of life have been reported in randomized-controlled trials and large real-world cohort studies. However, so far, few data exist on patient-reported experience with the treatment.

Objectives: For the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis functional endoscopic sinus surgery is a well-established therapy with high initial success rates. However, a significant proportion of patients have persistent disease requiring revision surgery. To date, studies including data of large patient collectives are missing.

Introduction: Hypoglossal nerve stimulation (HNS) has recently been introduced as an alternative treatment for patients with OSA. A large number of studies have demonstrated substantial changes in OSA with this therapy by reducing respiratory events and improving symptoms such as daytime sleepiness and quality of life. The objective of this review was to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate patient-reported outcomes and experience with HNS therapy.

Objective: The benefit of a nasal corticosteroid in the treatment of persistent post-infectious smell disorders is not as clear in previous studies as is assumed for olfactory training. This study would therefore like to describe the treatment strategies using the example of a persistent olfactory dysfunction as a result of a proven infection with SARS-CoViD-2-virus.
Methods: Twenty patients (average age of 33.
