The development of easy and direct real-time monitoring of welded joint quality instead of surface damage analysis is crucial to improve the quality of industrial products. This work presents the results of high-density polyethylene (HDPE)-based composites with various carbon black (CB) content (from 20 to 30 vol.%) for use as a heating element and strain sensor in electrofusion-welded polymer joints.

In the quest for excellent light-structural materials that can withstand mechanical extremes for advanced applications, design and control of microstructures beyond current material design strategies have become paramount. Herein, we design a coherent shell at incoherent precipitates in the 2195 aluminum alloy with multi-step metastable phase transitions. A high local strain rate a neoteric deformation-driven metallurgy method facilitated the diffusion of Li.

Here, we developed doxorubicin-loaded FeO-Au MNC (DOX-MNC) using electron beam physical vapor deposition (EB-PVD) in combination with magneto-mechanochemical synthesis to assess their antitumor effect on Walker-256 carcinosarcoma under the influence of a constant magnetic (CMF) and electromagnetic field (EMF) by comparing tumor growth kinetics, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans and electron spin resonance (ESR) spectra. Transmission (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) confirmed the formation of spherical magnetite nanoparticles with a discontinuous gold coating that did not significantly affect the ferromagnetic properties of MNC, as measured by vibrating-sample magnetometry (VSM).

The increase in greenhouse gas emissions has led to seawater acidification, increasing the corrosion rate of metal structures in marine applications. This paper indicates that the spraying of four types of coatings, namely Zn, Al, Zn-Al, and Al-Mg, using the arc-spraying technique on steel substrate S235JR, creates effective protective coatings that interact differently with various pH solutions exposed to varying levels of seawater acidification. The study analyses the structural properties of the coating materials using SEM and XRD techniques.

This study developed a technical task associated with the formation of welded joints based on biodegradable polymers and their subsequent physicochemical characterization. The primary objective was to establish the effect of the welding process and modification of natural poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB) with N,N-dibutylundecenoylamide (DBUA) as a plasticizing agent on the structure and properties of PHB-based biopolymer materials as well as the process and structure of welded joints formation using ultrasonic welding technique. The weldability of biodegradable layers based on PHB and PHB/DBUA mixture was ultrasonically welded and optimized using a standard Branson press-type installation.

The nanorods of bismuth sulfoiodide (BiSI) were synthesized at relatively low temperature (393 K) through a wet chemical method. The crystalline one-dimensional (1D) structure of the BiSI nanorods was confirmed using high resolution transmission microscopy (HRTEM). The morphology and chemical composition of the material were examined by applying scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), respectively.

This paper investigates thermal transport in a nanocomposite system consisting of a porous silicon matrix filled with ionic liquid. Firstly, the thermal conductivity and heat capacity of two imidazolium and one ammonium ionic liquids were evaluated using the photoacoustic approach in piezoelectric configuration and differential scanning calorimetry, respectively. Then, the thermal transport properties of the composite system "ionic liquid confined inside porous silicon matrix" were investigated with the photoacoustic approach in gas-microphone configuration.

Objective was to compare the effect of functionalization of magnetite (FeO) nanoparticles (NPs) with sodium chloride (NaCl), or its combination with ethylmethylhydroxypyrydine succinate (EMHPS) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) on blood gases and electrolytes in acute blood loss. Ligandless magnetite NPs were synthesized by the electron beam technology and functionalized by mentioned agents. Size of NPs in colloidal solutions FeO@NaCl, FeO@NaCl@EMHPS, FeO@NaCl@PVP, FeO@NaCl@EMHPS@PVP (nanosystems 1-4) was determined by dynamic light scattering.

Small changes in values will give effect to the quality of welds which actually can be easily analysed using application tool. Unfortunately, existing software to optimize the parameters are expensive, licensed and inflexible which makes small industries and research centres refused to acquire.

One of the most important directions in the development of additive manufacturing or three-dimensional (3D) printing technologies is the creation of functional materials, which allow not only prototyping but also the manufacturing of products with functional properties. In this paper, poly-lactide acid (PLA) /carbon black (CB) composites with segregated (ordered) structure have been created. Computer simulation based on the Mamunya geometrical model showed that the CB content within = 2.

Antimicrobial and antiviral nanocomposites based on polylactic acid (PLA) and chitosan were synthesized by a thermochemical reduction method of Ag ions in the PLA-Ag-chitosan polymer films. Features of the structural, morphological, thermophysical, antimicrobial, antiviral, and cytotoxic properties of PLA-Ag-chitosan nanocomposites were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and antiviral, antimicrobial, and cytotoxic studies. The effects of temperature and the duration of reduction of Ag ions on the structure of PLA-Ag-chitosan nanocomposites were established.

Soft TiB-BN-C hetero-modulus ceramics were sintered with the assistance of in-situ reactions during the hot pressing of TiN-BC precursors. TiB formation was observed already after the hot pressing at 1100 °C, remaining the only phase identifiable by XRD even after sintering at 1500 °C. Analysis of reaction kinetics allows us to assume that the most probable reaction controlling stage is boron atoms sublimation and gas phase transfer from BC to TiN.

Welding technology may be considered as a promising processing method for the formation of packaging products from biopolymers. However, the welding processes used can change the properties of the polymer materials, especially in the region of the weld. In this contribution, the impact of the welding process on the structure and properties of biopolymer welds and their ability to undergo hydrolytic degradation will be discussed.

The article is concerned with hybrid amorphous polymers synthesized basing on epoxy oligomer of diglycide aliphatic ester of polyethylene glycol that was cured by polyethylene polyamine and lithium perchlorate salt. Structural peculiarities of organic-inorganic polymer composites were studied by differential scanning calorimetry, wide-angle X-ray spectra, infrared spectroscopic, scanning electron microscopy, elemental analysis, and transmission and reflective optical microscopy. On the one hand, the results showed that the introduction of LiClO salt into epoxy polymer leads to formation of the coordinative metal-polymer complexes of donor-acceptor type between central Li ion and ligand.

The paper presents results of the investigation of structure relaxation and thermal properties of PE-80 and PE-100 polyethylene hot-tool butt welds. It was found that a weld with the re-crystallized crystalline structure is formed during the welding of dissimilar types of polyethylene. It is shown that within a long period (1 year) the relaxation occurs not only in amorphous but also in the crystalline phase (crystalline α-form transforms into mixed αβ-form), with respective changes in polyethylene properties.
