This work prepared the soy protein isolate (SPI)-beeswax-based bigel loaded with β-carotene, and the effect of printing temperature (PT) on texture regulation was investigated. During printing, increasing PT weakened the rheological properties and printability of ink. However, the mechanical strength and deformation resistance at non-linear regions of products were strengthened after printing.

Purpose: The caregiver burden of individuals with dysphagia is a major concern. Currently, assessment tools specifically designed for this population are lacking. The present study aimed to translate the Caregiver Analysis of Reported Experiences with Swallowing Disorders (CARES) Questionnaire into Mandarin Chinese and evaluate its psychometric properties.

Objective: To investigate the clinical manifestations of head and neck cancer in patients with Plummer-Vinson syndrome (PVS) and to assess related oral comorbidities.
Materials And Methods: Case reports covering head and neck cancer manifestations in patients diagnosed with PVS were included Studies were identified through seven main electronic databases (PubMed/MEDLINE, EMBASE, Scopus, Web of Science, CINAHL, LILACS, and LIVIVO), and a search for gray literature was performed using ProQuest Dissertations and Theses and Google Scholar. Independent reviewers applied predefined eligibility criteria in a two-phase selection process.

This study investigated the rheological and tribological properties of cold beverages [bottled water (BW), sports drink (SD), orange juice (OJ), and whole milk (WM)] thickened with various concentrations (1%, 2%, and 3%, w/w) of xanthan gum-based food thickeners. All thickened beverages exhibited high pseudoplastic behavior, with increasing thickener concentration leading to higher viscosity and viscoelastic moduli and a lower flow behavior index. Thickened BW, SD, and WM exhibited typical Stribeck curves covering the boundary, mixed, and hydrodynamic lubrication regimes.

This dataset comprises a comprehensive collection of videos and images illustrating the fluid dynamics of swallowing and aspiration in a patient-specific pharyngolaryngeal model with varying epiglottis angles. The data also includes the physical properties of the fluids used, comprising dynamic viscosity, surface tension, and contact angle. Videos under varying swallowing conditions were collected to investigate the mechanisms underlying aspiration.

Background: Primary mediastinal liposarcomas (PLMs) are extremely rare. Patients typically present with symptoms caused by tumor size, as the mass can compress surrounding tissues and organs. Here, we report a case of a large primary mediastinal liposarcoma that was successfully resected thoracoscopically.

Introduction: Esophageal cancer impairs basic functions such as eating and drinking frequently resulting in difficulty swallowing (dysphagia) and other problems such as weight loss, pain, fatigue, and taste alterations. There is still a research gap in understanding the impact of dysphagia on quality of life, as patients continue to bear significant physical and psychological burdens despite advances in treatment. This study attempted to address this gap by examining the lived experiences of dysphagia-related quality of life among esophageal cancer patients.

Chronic cough is a common clinical condition requiring comprehensive assessment. This review employs a symptom-focused approach, prioritizing the presenting symptom of "chronic cough" to mirror real-world clinical practice. Ten key questions regarding the investigations in the uncertain areas were systematically addressed based on the PICO framework and applying the GRADE system for evidence synthesis to provide the strength of recommendation and quality of evidence for key questions.

Background: Aspiration pneumonia, which often recurs due to dysphagia, worsens as patients move between homes, facilities, and hospitals. The impact of pre-hospital living setting on oral intake at discharge remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of the pre-hospital living setting on the nutritional intake route upon discharge in older patients with aspiration pneumonia.

Background: Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is a high-risk factor for dementia and dysphagia; therefore, early intervention is vital. The effectiveness of intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS) targeting the right dorsal lateral prefrontal cortex (rDLPFC) remains unclear.
Methods: Thirty-six participants with MCI were randomly allocated to receive real (n = 18) or sham (n = 18) iTBS.

Objective: Proximal gastrectomy (PG) is commonly used to remove proximal gastric cancer leading to gastroesophageal reflux and requires digestive tract reconstruction. This study is to compare the performance of esophagogastrostomy (EG), jejunal interposition (JI), and double tract reconstruction (DTR) on post-PG reconstruction effectiveness.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted using the clinical data of 94 PG patients who underwent digestive tract reconstruction by EG (37 patients), JI (29 patients) or DTR (28 patients).

This is a case report of a rare hypoglossal nerve paresis after tonsillectomy in a healthy 29-year-old woman. While she made a full recovery, she experienced 6-8 weeks of dysphagia, dysarthria and had to be readmitted because of dehydration. As direct intraoperative trauma is unlikely due to the protected course of the nerve, we discuss possible mechanisms and suggest precautions to avoid similar neuropraxia - such as avoiding overinflation of the laryngeal mask airway, regularly relieving the tongue pressure and using careful manipulation of the tongue base if necessary.

Background: Systemic light chain amyloidosis is a rare and debilitating disease, especially for which initially presented with digestive tract involvement. Myocardial amyloidosis is highly aggressive with generally poor prognosis and often resulted in missed diagnosis or misdiagnosis with routine examination tools. Multimodality imaging play an important role in diagnosing the amyloidosis effect on multiple organs.

In patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) whose symptoms improve with acid-suppression therapy, on-demand treatment could constitute maintenance therapy. This study investigated the comparative efficacy and safety of on-demand tegoprazan and proton-pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy in GERD. From six university hospitals in the Daejeon-Chungcheong region, we enrolled patients with GERD who had experienced symptomatic improvement with acid-suppressive therapy and, using a randomization table, randomly allocated these participants to two groups: to receive either tegoprazan 50 mg + esomeprazole placebo or tegoprazan placebo + esomeprazole 20 mg, respectively.

The Dysphagia Handicap Index (DHI) is commonly utilized for evaluating how dysphagia impacts the quality of life (QoL) of patients across physical, functional, and emotional dimensions. The primary aim of the research was to linguistically validate and culturally adapt the DHI to the Bangla version. A cross-sectional study design was chosen, with Beaton's protocol as the guiding framework for validating and adapting the DHI.

Background: Late side effects of head and neck cancer treatment commonly affect swallowing function. Late radiation-associated dysphagia (late-RAD) often presents years post-treatment when patients have been discharged from their multidisciplinary team. Timely symptom management may provide important physical and emotional support, potentially reducing the overall healthcare burden.

Introduction: Dysphagia is a common post-stroke neurological disorder. Early screening for dysphagia can identify patients at risk of aspiration, thereby reducing the occurrence of pulmonary complications, morbidity, and mortality in this population.
Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the impact of an intervention in a stroke unit, following a retrospective study carried out in the same unit in 2020, which investigated the association between dysphagia and acute cerebrovascular disease and analyzed the prevalence of readmissions due to respiratory tract infections (RTI) and mortality.
