Doxorubicin (Dox) is a potent antineoplastic agent, but its use is curtailed by severe cardiotoxicity, known as Dox-induced cardiomyopathy (DIC). The molecular mechanism underlying this cardiotoxicity remains unclear. Our current study investigates the role of Ubiquitin-Specific Protease 36 (USP36), a nucleolar deubiquitinating enzyme (DUB), in the progression of DIC and its mechanism.

Unlabelled: Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common subtype of lethal kidney cancer. Reprogramming of fatty acid and glucose metabolism resulting in the accumulation of lipids and glycogen in the cytoplasm is a hallmark of ccRCC. Here, we identified a micropeptide ACLY-BP encoded by the GATA3-suppressed LINC00887, which regulated lipid metabolism and promoted cell proliferation and tumor growth in ccRCC.

Acute viral myocarditis is a serious complication of viral infectious diseases, including coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). To better understand the pathogenesis of acute viral myocarditis, we retrospectively analyzed the incidence and prognostic significance of hypocalcemia among patients with acute myocarditis, most of whom were considered to have acute viral myocarditis. We retrospectively reviewed the demographic and clinical data of patients with clinically confirmed acute myocarditis treated in our hospital over a 13-year period from 2006 to 2019, including laboratory results, cardiac imaging findings, and clinical outcomes.

Background: Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is associated with high in-hospital mortality and most ARDS patients require ventilatory support. Applying appropriate ventilation strategies based on patients' individual situations has a direct impact upon patients' outcome. The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) has been shown to predict the early requirement of invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Purpose: Traumatic mutilation of major limbs can result in limb loss, motor disability, or death. Patients who had replantation failure needed to undergo additional surgeries (even amputation) and had a longer length of hospital stay. Here, we determined the risk and prognostic factors of replantation failure in patients with traumatic major limb mutilation.

Background: Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) gene polymorphisms have recently been shown to be associated with risk of developing left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH). However, the results were controversial. We aimed to conduct this meta-analysis to further confirm the association between ACE rs4646994 polymorphism and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM)/dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM).
