A novel dinuclear platinum(ii) complex featuring a ditopic, bis-tetradentate ligand has been prepared. The ligand offers each metal ion a planar ^^^ coordination environment, with the two metal ions bound to the nitrogen atoms of a bridging pyrimidine unit.
