The early diagnosis of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) can be challenging in cases presenting with a scarcity of clinical signs, normal cerebral imaging in early stages and a lack of specific serum markers. Thrombomodulin has been shown to be associated with cerebrovascular ischemic events and can be considered an important biomarker for the acute onset of ischemic stroke. In our study, we compared the serum levels of thrombomodulin (sTM) between a relevant patient group of 70 AIS patients and a control group of patients without AIS admitted into the neurology department between June 2022 and May 2023.

This paper presents experimental results on the behavior of a class of glass fiber composites under low velocity impacts, in order to analyze their usage in designing low velocity impact-resistant components in car and marine industries. Also, a finite element model at the meso level (considering yarn as a compact, homogenous and isotropic material) was run with the help of Ansys Explicit Dynamics in order to point out the stages of the failure and the equivalent stress distribution on the main yarns in different layers of the composite. The composites were manufactured at laboratory scale via the laying-up and pressing method, using a quadriaxial glass fiber fabric (0°/+45°/90°/-45°) supplied by Castro Composites (Pontevedra, Spain) and an epoxy resin.

Introduction: Increasingly, SGLT2 inhibitors save patients with heart failure and comorbidities such as type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and chronic kidney disease (CKD); the inhibition of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) was first studied in patients with diabetes as a solution to lower glucose levels by preventing glucose reabsorption and facilitating its elimination; in the process, researchers took notice of how SGLT2 inhibitors also seemed to have beneficial cardiovascular effects in patients with both diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Aim: Our single-center prospective study assesses outcomes of post-coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) rehabilitation and SLGT2 inhibition in CABG patients with/without T2DM and with/without CKD.
Materials And Methods: One hundred twenty consecutive patients undergoing CABG were included in the analysis.

Chromophobe renal cell carcinoma (CRCC) is a distinct subtype of renal cell carcinoma with unique histological, immunohistochemical, cytogenetic, and ultrastructural features, which usually has a favorable clinical course, with only a small percentage of patients developing recurrence, metastasis, or death due to its complications. Sarcomatoid differentiation can occur in any subtype of renal cell carcinoma and currently represents the transformation into a higher degree of malignancy, its presence being associated with a reserved prognosis, with a reported incidence of average survival of less than 1 year after diagnosis. In this study, we present an unusual case of CRCC with massive sarcomatoid differentiation, which infiltrated the left adrenal gland and was surgically resected.
