  • - The study investigates two natural compounds, TR2 and TR22, for their potential antioxidant and anticancer properties against two types of breast cancer cells (estrogen-sensitive MCF-7 and non-sensitive MDA-MB 231).
  • - TR2 demonstrated stronger antioxidant effects compared to standard antioxidants and effectively inhibited the growth and migration of breast cancer cells, while TR22 showed a more significant proliferation inhibition following acetylation.
  • - Molecular docking studies indicated that both compounds could inhibit receptor tyrosine kinases, suggesting their potential as effective agents in slowing cancer progression.

(1) Background: Trial of labor after cesarean (TOLAC) can be associated with significant maternal and neonatal complications, and the aim of this retrospective study was to calculate the risks and probabilities of these complications in two tertiary maternity centers in Romania. (2) Methods: A total of 216 patients who attempted TOLAC were included in the study and were segregated into two groups, depending on TOLAC success. Medical records were assessed, and clinical data were used to determine the maternal and neonatal risks and complications, using multinomial logistic regression and postestimation predictions.

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is characterized by reduced postoperative pain, shorter hospital stays, rapid return to preoperative physical activity, and less psychological impact on the patient. During laparoscopic cholecystectomy, the intra-abdominal insufflation of carbon dioxide with secondary increase in intra-abdominal pressure can cause important hemodynamic consequences, like decreased cardiac output and blood pressure, as well as compensatory increase in heart rate. The purpose of this study is to evaluate changes in cardiovascular parameters during general anesthesia in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

  • A study evaluated the use of blackcurrant pomace extract (BPE) in emulsion gels made from sunflower and linseed oils as a substitute for pork backfat in Vienna sausages at concentrations of 2.5%, 5.0%, and 10.0%.
  • The reformulation reduced cooking loss and improved the fatty acid composition (lowering the n-6/n-3 ratio and increasing the PUFA/SFA ratio), but it negatively impacted the sausages' color and texture.
  • While BPE improved the oxidative stability of the sausages, using more than 5% BPE adversely affected sensory qualities like appearance and texture, making them less acceptable to consumers.

Background: Bacterial pneumonia caused by continues to be one of the most common medical conditions in the pediatric population under 5 years of age, sometimes requiring prolonged hospitalizations and high costs. The time period (3 to 7 days) from the collection of biological samples (ie nasal exudate, pharyngeal exudate, sputum, blood culture and various secretions) to the arrival of the results has been a much discussed issue. Thus, the use of a rapid diagnostic test for urinary antigen, which is easy to use, may lead after the result is known to a targeted therapeutic management and thus to a favorable prognosis of the disease for the patient.

The purpose of this study is to examine healthcare usage, morbidities, and alcohol consumption monitoring in patients before a diagnosis of mental manifestations to assist in the early identification of individuals at risk. Biological markers of alcoholism are separated into two groups: those biological variables that highlight with great confidence and validate the presence of a predisposition to alcoholism, also called trait markers, or those that highlight alcohol consumption, called markers of alcoholism ("status markers"). Biomarkers are the true "gold standard" for the diagnosis of alcoholism.
