Objectives: To compare the effectiveness of preganglionic transforaminal epidural steroid injection (TFESI) with preganglionic plus postganglionic TFESI.
Methods: Patients with unilateral radicular pain and disc pathology were randomly assigned to either the preganglionic group or the preganglionic plus postganglionic group. All patients were evaluated using a numeric rating scale (NRS) and a patient satisfaction scale (PSS) at the third week and the third month after treatment.

Gastritis is a progressive disease that evolves from a non-atrophic to atrophic state and progresses through intestinal metaplasia, with some cases leading eventually to gastric cancer. Since gastritis by definition is an inflammatory process of the mucosal lining of the stomach and is usually associated with pain, we aimed to identify any association between the severity of gastritis and pain and a simple inflammatory marker derived from a complete blood count (CBC). This was a prospective cross-sectional study which enrolled 155 consecutive adult patients who underwent an upper endoscopy.

Aim: To evaluate maternal and cord blood irisin levels in pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and in obese pregnant women without GDM.
Methods: The study included 109 patients, with 34 patients in the GDM group, 40 in the obese non-GDM group, and 35 in the control group. Maternal serum irisin levels at the time of delivery were measured by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit.

The authors present a rare case of cavernous angioma mimicking a meningioma in a 58-year-old man who presented with a headache and dizziness. There were no neurological deficits or other neurological symptoms or signs. An extra-axial mass lesion thought to be associated with diffusely well-enhanced falx in the postcontrast sections was noted in the posterior interhemispheric fissure near the posterior part of the corpus callosum splenium.

Background: The etiology of myocarditis in children has not yet been completely elucidated.
Objective: Medical records of eight pediatric patients diagnosed with acute myocarditis within a 41-day period in a small-town hospital were retrospectively analyzed.
Methods: We examined antibody titers of adenovirus, Epstein-Barr virus, herpes simplex virus, respiratory syncytial virus, varicella-zoster virus and cytomegalovirus in peripheral blood.

Absent pulmonary valve syndrome (APVS) is a rare congenital heart disease with severe pulmonary insufficiency, characterized with aneurysmal dilation in the pulmonary artery and one or both of its branches. We presented a rare case with APVS and literature review in this letter. Prenatal USG examination of the fetus at the 26th week of gestation revealed severe polyhydramnios, dilatation at right ventricle, and abnormal appearance of the heart.
