Background: To retrospectively analyze the risk factors of liver metastases in patients with gastric cancer in a single center, and to establish a Nomogram prediction model to predict the occurrence of liver metastases.
Methods: A total of 96 patients with gastric cancer who were also diagnosed with liver metastasis (GCLM) and treated in our center from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2020 were included. The clinical data of 1095 patients with gastric cancer who were diagnosed without liver metastases (GC) in our hospital from January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2017 were retrospectively compared by univariate and multivariate logistic regression.

The healing of severe chronic skin wounds in chronic diabetic patients is still a huge clinical challenge due to complex regeneration processes and control signals. Therefore, a single approach is difficult in obtaining satisfactory therapeutic efficacy for severe diabetic skin wounds. In this study, we adopted a composite strategy for diabetic skin wound healing.

CX-5461, a first-in-class compound, is widely recognized as a selective inhibitor of RNA polymerase I. Recently, it has been reported to possess novel immunosuppressive properties with significant therapeutic effects in transplantation immune rejection. However, the potential use of CX-5461 for Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) treatment remains unknown.

Cells routinely utilize the unfolded protein response (UPR) to alleviate endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-stress or trigger about apoptotic death under extreme ER-stress conditions. Tumor cells are subjected to persistent ER-stress due to their crowded microenvironment, but can maintain hyperactive proliferation under most stressful conditions. Therefore, understanding strategies employed by cancer cells to escape from UPR-related apoptosis has important medical implications.

Mammalian hair cells (HCs) are arranged spirally along the cochlear axis and correspond to different frequency ranges. Serving as primary sound detectors, HCs spatially segregate component frequencies into a topographical map. HCs display significant diversity in anatomical and physiological characteristics, yet little is known about the organization of the cochleotopic map of HCs or the molecules involved in this process.

The Hippo-YAP1 pathway is an evolutionally conserved signaling cascade that controls organ size and tissue regeneration. Dysregulation of Hippo-YAP1 signaling promotes initiation and progression of several types of cancer, including gastric cancer. As the Hippo-YAP1 pathway regulates expression of thousands of genes, it is important to establish which target genes contribute to the oncogenic program driven by YAP1 to identify strategies to circumvent it.

Innate immunity serves as the first line of host defense in the body against pathogenic infections or malignant diseases. Reactive oxygen species (ROS), as vital signaling mediators, can efficiently elicit innate immune responses to oxidative-related stress or damage. In the era of nanomedicine, various immunostimulatory nanosystems have been extensively designed and synthesized to elicit immune responses for the immunotherapy of cancer or infectious diseases.

Background: Intrauterine adhesions (IUAs) jeopardise uterine function in women, which is a great challenge in the clinic. Previous studies have shown that endometrial perivascular cells (En-PSCs) can improve the healing of scarred uteri and that hydroxysafflor yellow A (HSYA) promotes angiogenesis. The purpose of this study was to observe whether the combination of En-PSCs with HSYA could improve the blood supply and fertility in the rat uterus after full-thickness injury.

Background And Aims: The mitotic catastrophe (MC) pathway plays an important role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression and tumor microenvironment (TME) regulation. However, the mechanisms linking MC heterogeneity to immune evasion and treatment response remain unclear.
Methods: Based on 94 previously published highly correlated genes for MC, HCC patients' data from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and changes in immune signatures and prognostic stratification were studied.

Background: Although white matter hyperintensity (WMH) is closely associated with cognitive decline, the precise neurobiological mechanisms underlying this relationship are not fully elucidated. Connectome studies have identified a primary-to-transmodal gradient in functional brain networks that support the spectrum from sensation to cognition. However, whether connectome gradient structure is altered as WMH progresses and how this alteration is associated with WMH-related cognitive decline remain unknown.

Esophageal cancer is a common cancer with high morbidity and mortality that severely threatens the safety and quality of human life. The strong metastatic nature of esophageal cancer enables it to metastasize more quickly and covertly, making it difficult for current diagnostic and treatment methods to achieve efficient early screening, as well as timely and effective treatment. As a promising solution, nucleic acid aptamers, a kind of special single-stranded DNA or RNA oligonucleotide selected by the Systematic Evolution of Ligands by Exponential Enrichment (SELEX) technology, can specifically bind with different molecular targets.

Background And Purpose: Regorafenib was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients showing progress on sorafenib treatment. However, there is an inevitably high rate of drug resistance associated with regorafenib, which reduces its effectiveness in clinical treatment. Thus, there is an urgent need to find a potential way to solve the problem of regorafenib resistance.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is considered to be associated with aging. Both ER stress and the unfolded protein response (UPR) have been associated with pulmonary fibrosis via key mechanisms including AEC apoptosis, EMT, altered myofibroblast differentiation, and M2 macrophage polarization. A relationship between ER stress and aging has also been demonstrated in vitro, with increased p16 and p21 levels seen in lung epithelial cells of older IPF patients.

Nano-delivery systems hold great promise for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Current research efforts are primarily focused on enhancing their targeting capabilities and efficacy. Here, this study proposes a novel viral-mimicking ternary polyplexes system for the controlled delivery of the anti-inflammatory drug Cyclosporin A (CsA) to effectively treat RA.

Current therapies primarily targeting inflammation often fail to address the root relationship between intestinal mucosal integrity and the resulting dysregulated cell death and ensuing inflammation in ulcerative colitis (UC). First, UC tissues from human and mice models in this article both emphasize the crucial role of Gasdermin E (GSDME)-mediated pyroptosis in intestinal epithelial cells (IECs) as it contributes to colitis by releasing proinflammatory cytokines, thereby compromising the intestinal barrier. Then, 4-octyl-itaconate (4-OI), exhibiting potential for anti-inflammatory activity in inhibiting pyroptosis, was encapsulated by butyrate-modified liposome (4-OI/BLipo) to target delivery for IECs.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging of nanozymes toward acute kidney injury (AKI) is a current promising strategy, however, the glomerular filtration barrier (GFB) limits their application for treating kidney related diseases. Here, a neutrophil-mediated delivery system able to hijack neutrophil to transport nanozyme-loaded cRGD-liposomes to inflamed kidney for AKI treatment by cRGD targeting integrin αvβ1 is reported. The neutrophil-mediated nanozyme delivery system demonstrated great antioxidant and anti-apoptosis ability in HK-2 and NRK-52E cell lines.
