Here, a zirconium-based metal organic framework-dispersive solid phase extraction method was established as an efficient, robust, and accurate approach for quantifying apixabanin human plasma samples prior to capillary electrophoresis with diode array detection. Various types of metal organic frameworks based on UiO-66-NH were synthesized by altering modulators and solvents and applied as sorbents in the extraction procedure. Among the tested sorbents, UiO-66-NH prepared in dimethylformamide in the presence of acetic acid was found to be the best sorbent in this method for the extraction of apixaban with high extraction efficiency comparable to other types of UiO-66-NH metal organic frameworks.

  • Researchers studied metoprolol levels in exhaled breath condensate (EBC), plasma, and urine from 39 patients to understand its distribution in the body.
  • The results showed strong linear relationships in the detection of metoprolol across different biological fluids, with specific concentrations found: 5.35 µg·L in EBC, 70.76 µg·L in plasma, and 1943.1 µg·L in urine.
  • Correlations were noted between daily dosage and plasma/urine levels, but not between dosage and EBC levels, highlighting variability influenced by factors like metabolism and drug interactions in the studied population.

  • Hydroquinone (HQ) is restricted in over-the-counter skincare, making Arbutin (AR) a popular alternative for treating hyperpigmentation, despite its potential to decompose into toxic byproducts when exposed to certain conditions.
  • This study focuses on how different extraction procedures affect the conversion of AR to HQ and p-Benzoquinone (BZ), while assessing the kinetics of AR hydrolysis and the interference of AR and BZ in the identification of HQ using established USP methods.
  • The research highlighted that AR's hydrolysis follows a zero-order kinetic profile, revealing its consistent degradation rate regardless of concentration, and confirmed that AR can interfere with UV-VIS spectrophotometry used for HQ measurement, which could lead to inaccurate
