Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains a leading cause of death for women in the United States, with veterans being at potentially higher risk than their nonveteran counterparts due to accelerated aging and distinct biopsychosocial mechanisms. We examined pathways between selected indicators of socioeconomic status (SES) such as education, occupation, household income, and neighborhood SES and major CVD events through lifestyle and health characteristics among veteran and nonveteran postmenopausal women.

Methods And Results: A total of 121 286 study-eligible WHI (Women's Health Initiative) participants (3091 veterans and 118 195 nonveterans) were prospectively followed for an average of 17 years, during which 16 108 major CVD events were documented.

Background: African American women bear a disproportionate burden of cardiovascular diseases, potentially due to altered central hemodynamics. Racism and sexism often lead to African American women taking on numerous caretaking roles and overall increases their use of the Strong Black Woman (ie, Superwoman) mindset, which may have negative health consequences. Introduction: We examined whether a combined measure of neighborhood greenspace and neighborhood median income was associated with white matter hyperintensity (WMH) and ventricle size changes.

Methods: The sample included 1260 cognitively normal ≥ 65-year-olds with two magnetic resonance images (MRI; ≈ 5 years apart). WMH and ventricular size were graded from 0 (least) to 9 (most) abnormal (worsening = increase of ≥1 grade from initial to follow-up MRI scans).

Introduction: Many adults with overweight or obesity experience subclinical symptoms of depression, but little is known about how such symptoms are associated with physical activity (PA) or the experience of PA during behavioral weight loss (BWL) treatment.

Methods: In the current study, adults recruited from the community (N = 320) received 18 months of group-based BWL treatment and wore accelerometers at months 0, 6, and 18 to objectively measure PA. Participants with a mood disorder that was not well controlled were not eligible for the study and were referred for individual treatment.

In this letter, I intend to report a general rule with exceptions to predict the sign of optical rotation of chiral molecules with a RCHXY structure from their absolute configurations using the Hammett constant, , which is based on the electron withdrawing/donating power of functional groups. In this rule, a priority list of functional groups based on the electron withdrawing powers of the groups are used.

Background: The Social Responsiveness Scale (SRS) is a 65-item measure yielding a continuous score capturing autism-related traits. Scores based on SRS item subsets have been analytically examined but administration of shortened versions has not been evaluated prospectively.

Use of the O-Z flap as an alternative to free tissue transfer for reconstruction of large scalp defects.

Objective: The reconstruction of large scalp defects poses both functional and cosmetic challenges. While free tissue transfer remains the standard for defects larger than 30 cm, prolonged anesthesia and postoperative complications remain significant limitations. Scalable and sustainable production of TiCT MXene and fluorine recovery from wastewater through cryolite precipitation.

Treatment of HF or HCl/LiF etched TiCT with 0.05 M NaHCO before water washing reduces the wastewater generated by 75%. When etched with HF, cryolite (NaAlF) precipitation from spent etching waste effectively removes fluorine from this waste stream, offers insight into the etching chemistry of MAX to MXene, and provides an effective analytical tool for optimization of MXene production.
