Good postural control is considered to be a key component of an active lifestyle, and numerous studies have investigated the Center of Pressure (CoP) as a way of identifying motor deficits. However, the optimal frequency range for assessing CoP variables and the effect of filtering on the relationships between anthropometric variables and CoP are unclear. The aim of this work is to show the relationship between anthropometric variables and different ways of filtering the CoP data.

Background: Geriatric assessment (GA) is recommended to detect vulnerabilities for elderly cancer patients. To assess whether results of GA actually influence the treatment recommendations, we conducted a case vignette-based study in medical oncologists.
Materials And Methods: Seventy oncologists gave their medical treatment recommendations for a maximum of 4 out of 10 gastrointestinal cancer patients in three steps: (i) based on tumor findings alone to simulate the guideline recommendation for a '50-year-old standard patient without comorbidities'; (ii) for the same situation in elderly patients (median age 77.

This systematic review, meta-analysis and meta-regression investigated the effects of individualized interventions, based on exercise alone or combined with psychological treatment, on pain intensity and disability in patients with chronic non-specific low-back-pain. Databases were searched up to January 31, 2022 to retrieve respective randomized controlled trials of individualized and/or personalized and/or stratified exercise interventions with or without psychological treatment compared to any control. Fifty-eight studies (n = 10084) were included.

Background: Bleeding risk is highly relevant for treatment decisions in cancer-associated thrombosis (CAT). Several risk scores exist, but have never been validated in patients with CAT and are not recommended for practice.
Objectives: To compare methods of estimating clinically relevant (major and clinically relevant nonmajor) bleeding risk in patients with CAT: (1) existing risk scores for bleeding in venous thromboembolism, (2) pragmatic classification based on cancer type, and (3) new prediction model.

Background: Patients with carcinoma of unknown primary (CUP) have a dismal prognosis, even when treated with multi-agent chemotherapy. We hypothesised that adding the epidermal growth-factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitor cetuximab to standard first-line chemotherapy with paclitaxel and carboplatin would improve PFS and RR in unfavourable CUP.
Methods: This open-labelled, multicentre Phase 2 study included patients with unfavourable, untreated adeno- or undifferentiated CUP.

Islet-based recellularization of decellularized, repurposed rat livers may form a transplantable Neo-Pancreas. The aim of this study is the establishment of the necessary protocols, the evaluation of the organ structure and the analysis of the islet functionality ex vivo. After perfusion-based decellularization of rat livers, matrices were repopulated with endothelial cells and mesenchymal stromal cells, incubated for 8 days in a perfusion chamber, and finally repopulated on day 9 with intact rodent islets.

Background: Allergic asthma causes substantial morbidity and constitutes a public health burden, which increases with asthma severity. There is evidence that allergy immunotherapy (AIT) prevents the progression of allergic rhinitis (AR) to asthma. However, evidence is missing on the potential of AIT to prevent progression from milder to more severe asthma.

Background: This study aimed to explore the information-seeking behavior (ISB) of melanoma patients (MPs) and MP subgroups, in order to provide data for needs-based adaptation of information provision.
Methods: In a cross-sectional survey in 27 German skin cancer centers, we explored characteristics of the ISB of MPs with the aid of a standardized questionnaire. Sub-group differences were determined with the chi-squared test and predictors of media preferences with logistic regression.

There is a scarcity of available data on unmet information needs (UINs) of melanoma patients (MPs) from Germany and of MPs with clinical stage IV. In a multicenter cross-sectional survey, we explored the UINs of 529 MPs by applying a standardized questionnaire. Subgroup differences in scope and contents of UINs were determined by univariate analyses.

Booklets are the preferably used form among patient education materials and are often handed out during medical consultations in dermatological oncology settings. However, little is known about how beneficial they are and whether they correspond to essential quality characteristics. To assess the quality, readability, and understandability of currently freely available booklets written in German addressing melanoma patients (MP).

The prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolism (VTE) remains a clinical challenge, primarily owing to drawbacks associated with the use of heparins and vitamin K antagonists (VKAs). These and other factors, including a growing elderly population, mean that VTE presents a continuing burden to patients and physicians. Anticoagulant therapy is a fundamental approach for VTE management.

Coatings of orthopedic implants are investigated to improve the osteoinductive and osteoconductive properties of the implant surfaces and thus to enhance periimplant bone formation. By applying coatings that mimic the extracellular matrix a favorable environment for osteoblasts, osteoclasts and their progenitor cells is provided to promote early and strong fixation of implants. It is known that the early bone ongrowth increases primary implant fixation and reduces the risk of implant failure.

Rivaroxaban is a direct factor Xa inhibitor, which is rapidly absorbed in the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract. In large trials, it has been shown to be effective and safe in VTE treatment. However, in these trials patients with morbid obesity were not reported and it is unknown if the standard dosage of 20 mg rivaroxaban is sufficient for bariatric patients, especially after bariatric surgery, which may impact the resorption of rivaroxaban.

Background: Bleeding complications are common side effects of vitamin-K antagonist (VKA) therapy. Data on the in-hospital management and outcomes of these bleeding events are scarce and information is mostly derived from trial cohorts.
Objectives: The objective was to collect data on the management and clinical outcome of hospitalizations owing to VKA-related bleeding in real-world practice.
