Sepsis is a systemic infection that significantly causes morbidity and mortality among neonates, which is associated with immature immune response. Variations in the tumor necrosis factor-alpha gene () -308G/A may be linked to neonatal sepsis mortality by modulating interleukins (ILs) involved in the immune response cascade, such as IL-6. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between -308G/A gene variation and IL-6 level with mortality of neonatal sepsis.

Levothyroxine (LT4), being "narrow therapeutic index" drug, may lead to significant fluctuations in thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) levels. Such fluctuations can result in clinically noteworthy disruptions in thyroid function and give rise to adverse clinical consequences. Consequently, regulatory standards for LT4 potency have been tightened, with the most stringent specifications requiring maintenance of potency within the range of 95-105% of the labeled dose throughout the entire shelf-life of the product.

Backgruound: Both Graves' disease (GD) and Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) are classified as autoimmune thyroid diseases (AITDs). It has been hypothesized that changes in the thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor (TSHR) gene may contribute to the development of these conditions. This study aimed to analyze the correlation between the TSHR rs179247 gene polymorphism and susceptibility to AITD.

Complex revascularization strategies, particularly complete revascularization, are controversial in coronary artery disease (CAD), and data supporting routine revascularization in stable CAD is lacking. The importance of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in CAD and N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), which has been studied as a predictor of major advanced cardiovascular events (MACE) in CAD patients, still requires further research. The aim of this study was to determine the association between NT-proBNP levels and the number of stents with MACE incidence in CAD cases.

Hypoxia-inducible factor-1 alpha (HIF-1α) is a transcription factor that plays a crucial role in cellular responses to hypoxia, such as in the development of intimal hyperplasia, a common complication in arteriovenous fistula (AVF) creation. While the application of umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs) has shown promise in various regenerative medicine applications, including tissue repair and angiogenesis, the effect of UC-MSCs on HIF-1α level in the AVF has not been tested. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of UC-MSCs administration on HIF-1α levels in the AVF animal model.

It is crucial for doctors to decide whether a thyroid nodule is benign or malignant when a patient presents with one, as it will significantly impact how the patient is managed in the future. However, it is not as straightforward to determine between the two; even a physical examination, thyroid function test, ultrasonography, and biopsy have been well performed. It can be more stressful if a patient has an increased risk of malignancy, such as age (below 20- and above 60-year-old), solid nodule, rapid growth, hoarseness, lymphadenopathy, and microcalcifications on the ultrasonography.
