Objectives: To assess the mortality attributable to infections caused by carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE) and to investigate the effect of clinical management on differences in observed outcomes in a multinational matched cohort study.
Methods: A prospective matched-cohorts study (NCT02709408) was performed in 50 European hospitals from March 2016 to November 2018. The main outcome was 30-day mortality with an active post-discharge follow-up when applied.

Introduction: Since GOLD 2017 separates spirometry results from 'ABCD' groups, there have been some changes to the stages of COPD patients. Our aim was to investigate the shifts in COPD groups after GOLD 2017.
Methods: COPD patients from outpatient clinics of 3 hospitals in Turkey were stratified into old and new ABCD groups according to exacerbation history, mMRC evaluation and spirometry results for both GOLD 2011 and 2017 assessments.

Background: In extensive-disease-small cell lung cancer (ED-SCLC), the median survival is 8-10 months and 2-year survival is <5%. Primary tumor progression occurs in 90% of patients approximately within 1 year. The role of consolidative thoracic radiotherapy (C-TRT) for the postchemotherapy residue with the aim of improving local control (LC) and survival is currently of great interest.

Hyperglycemia may lead to proliferation, invasion, apoptosis inhibition, migration, and eventually metastasis of cancer cells by several mechanisms. In this study, the effect of hyperglycemia on overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS), and locoregional recurrence (LRR) was investigated in NSCLC. One stage IIIA-IIIB NSCLC patient treated with chemoradiotherapy between 2010 and 2015 was enrolled.

Nevertheless, the estimated risk of metastases in hippocampal avoidance area in small-cell lung cancer is unknown. The current study aimed to characterize the metastatic distribution within the brain relative to the hippocampus, estimate the incidence of hippocampal metastasis in patients with small-cell lung cancer, and identify clinical and radiographic variables that may be associated with the risk of hippocampal avoidance area metastasis.

Aim: Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA), which enables cytological examination of mediastinal lymph node (LN) aspiration samples, is a safe and minimally invasive method for diagnosis and staging of lung cancer and diagnosis of diseases affecting mediastinal LNs. In this study, we investigated the yield of EBUS-TBNA for diagnosis of lymphoma and reviewed the literature since the British Thoracic Society (BTS) guidelines were published.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated our database for patients who underwent EBUS between March 2011 and December 2014.

Introduction: Prior researches have showed that weaning protocols may decrease the duration of mechanical ventilation. The effect of these protocols on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients is unknown. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of an extensive mechanical ventilation protocol including weaning applied by a respiratory therapist (RT) on the duration of mechanical ventilation and intensive care unit (ICU) stay in COPD patients.

Tracheobronchopathia osteochondroplastica (TO) is a rare and benign disorder of unknown cause affecting the large airways. It is characterized by the presence of multiple osseous and cartilaginous nodules in the submucosa of the trachea and main bronchi that is characterized by the progression of submucosal bone and/or cartilage including nodules through the lumen of trachea and bronchus. We present four cases that were diagnosed TO while investigating for the causes of hemoptysis and chronic cough.
