Introduction: Initiatives for smoking cessation (SC) at workplace have become more prominent due to both health and safety risks associated with smoking. We aimed to determine 6-month successful SC rates of a group of employees who participated in a SC program as they worked in a workplace that exhibited high risk of fire and explosion.
Materials And Methods: Having delivered a compulsory smoking training to the paint manufacturing department with 276 employees, we invited 147 smoker employees to participate in a SC initiative (SCI) program.

Introduction: To determine the diagnostic value of pleural fluid procalcitonin (PF-PCT) and serum PCT (S-PCT) levels in the diagnosis of parapneumonic pleural effusion (PPPE).
Materials And Methods: Sixty five inpatients with exudative pleural fluid were consecutively included in this prospective study. Biochemical (total protein, albumin, LDH, glucose, pH, PCT) studies were performed in concurrently obtained pleural fluid and venous blood samples, cytologic and microbiologic (acid-fast bacillus smear/culture, nonspecific bacterial Gram stain/culture, fungal culture) studies were performed in pleural fluid.

Background: Lactate may be useful in pointing out the higher risk subgroups in sleep-related breathing disorders (SRBD) with various patterns of hypoxemia. We aimed to search whether morning and night lactate levels are related to apnea-hypopnea, hypoventilation, and hypoxemia in patients with SRBD and to compare it with patients without SRBD (No-SRBD).
Methods: Eighty patients with suspected SRBD underwent polysomnography (PSG) testing.
