Background: Oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC) is commonly used to control small intraoperative bleedings in lung cancer surgery. However, difficulties in its absorption may lead to complications that can mimic malignancy recurrence in the affected areas, and may require further examination.

Methods: Between 2015 and 2022, patients who underwent malignant tumour resection and lymph node dissection and were subsequently evaluated for suspected lymph node recurrence and underwent EBUS-guided needle biopsy were included in the study.

The Effect of Prognostic Nutritional Index in Postoperative Infection Following Lobectomy in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Patients.

Background The prognostic nutritional index (PNI) is a valuable marker for evaluating the nutritional status associated with postoperative complications and the prognosis of patients with cancer. However, the role and clinical value of PNI in infection after lung cancer surgery remains unclear. This study examined the association between PNI and infection after lobectomy for lung cancer, focusing on the predictive value of PNI.

Determination of miR-373 and miR-204 levels in neuronal exosomes in Alzheimer's disease.

Background: NLRP3 inflammasome activation has been known to be involved in the etiology and progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Furthermore, AD and diabetes mellitus have common pathomechanisms. It has been shown that P2X7R whose expression is increased in brain tissues with AD and plays a role in the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome is suppressed by miR-373 in patients with osteoarthritis.

Investigation of the protective effects of intraperitoneal melatonin in rats receiving laryngeal radiotherapy.

Objectives: To examine the protective effects of melatonin on laryngeal radiation damage.

Materials And Methods: 31 rats were divided into 4 groups as follows: 1) the control (C) group (n=7), was only injected with intraperitoneal ethanol solution; 2) the melatonin (M) group (n=8), was injected intraperitoneal melatonin solution with 5 mg/kg; 3) the radiotherapy (RT) group (n=8) was given laryngeal radiation after intraperitoneal injection of ethanol solution; 4) the M + RT group (n=8), RT was given 30 minutes after 5 mg/kg dose of melatonin solution was injected. Drug and radiation applications were continued for 5 days.

Is there a relationship between heart rate recovery and blood pressure in white coat hypertension?

Aim    Increasing evidence suggests that autonomic dysfunction may be involved in the etiology of white coat hypertension (WCH). The aim of this study was to evaluate cardiac autonomic function by using heart rate recovery (HRR) indices in patients with WCH classified according to their circadian rhythm type of blood pressure (BP).Material and methods    This cross-sectional study included 120 participants over the age of 18 yrs, including 50 patients diagnosed with WCH and 70 healthy controls with normal in- and out-of-office BP and without any known disease.

Objective: To evaluate the prognostic significance of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in giant cell tumor of bone (GCT).

Methods: The patients with GCT were identified in the hospital records and pre-treatment complete blood count results were acquired retrospectively. Whether preoperative NLR lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) values had prognostic significance in predicting recurrence was evaluated by Receiver operating curve (ROC) analysis.

Cytomegalovirus Endotheliitis After Penetrating Keratoplasty.

Cytomegalovirus (CMV)-related corneal endotheliitis is an inflammation of the corneal endothelium caused by CMV. It may occur de novo or after ocular surgery in otherwise healthy individuals. In patients who have undergone keratoplasty, the differential diagnosis of viral endotheliitis and immune-related graft rejection is challenging due to the similar clinical findings.

Purpose: To investigate optic nerve head (ONH) microvascular changes secondary to transsynaptic retrograde degeneration (TRD), comperatively with direct retrograde degeneration and healthy controls.

Methods: Patients with hemianopia due to intracranial lesion included in the study. Intracranial lesion was categorized by location: postgeniculate (causing TRD), chiasmal (causing direct retrograde degeneration).
