Bladder Hernia, Bladder Stone and Contralateral Bowel Hernia: An Usual Combination.

We report and discuss a rare case of inguino-scrotal urinary bladder herniation (IBH) complicated with a big urinary bladder stone and contralateral indirect inguinal bowel hernia. A 68-year male patient presented to the outpatient urology department with a 4-year history of right inguino-scrotal pain and swelling, which was gradually increasing in size, and of intermittent swelling in the left groin. Physical examination revealed right irreducible inguino-scrotal hernia and reducible left inguinal hernia extending to the groin.

The clinical effect of classical music and lullaby on term babies in neonatal intensive care unit: A randomised controlled trial.

Objective: To investigate the effect of music during routine nursing care on full-term newborns physiological measurements, hospital stay and stress symptoms.

Methods: The randomised controlled trial was conducted at the Level II neonatal intensive care unit of a state hospital in Turkey from November 2014 to August 2015, and comprised full-term newborns. Three groups were formed by simple randomisation according to babies' Score for Neonatal Acute Physiology with Perinatal Extension-II; classical music, lullaby, and a control group.

Gastric cancer with adenocarcinoma and yolk sac tumor components: A rare entity.

Despite a sharp worldwide decline in the incidence and mortality due to gastric cancer during the second half of the 20th century, gastric cancer remains the world's second leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Variants of gastric cancer account for approximately 5% of all stomach carcinomas. Herein, we report on a rare case of combined germ cell tumor and adenocarcinoma that arose in the stomach of a 68-year-old woman with a high level of alpha-fetoprotein in the serum.

Correlation of Corneal Endothelial Cell Density with Corneal Tomographic Parameters in Eyes with Keratoconus.

Objectives: To examine changes in corneal endothelial cell density (ECD) in different stages of keratoconus and evaluate its correlation with corneal tomographic parameters.

Materials And Methods: Two hundred six patients with keratoconus were enrolled in the study. Corneal topography was performed by Sirius (CSO, Italy), which has a rotating Scheimpflug camera and a Placido disc topographer.

Determination of the ideal sampling technique to reduce repeated procedures:a comparative study including 393 fine-needle aspirations for thyroid nodules.

Background/aim: Fine-needle aspiration biopsy is an established method for the evaluation of thyroid nodules, but it has not been standardized worldwide yet. Adequacy of the aspirations is affected by several factors. The aim of this study is to determine the main factors affecting the adequacy and to suggest a procedural technique expected to reduce repeated procedures.

Evaluation of the acute effect of haemodialysis on retina and optic nerve with optical coherence tomography.

Purpose: The primary objective of haemodialysis (HD) was to correct the composition and volume of body fluids. The aim of this study was to evaluate the acute effect of HD on mean arterial pressure changes and on retina and optic nerve with optical coherence tomography (OCT).

Methods: Fifty-three eyes of 28 patients were enrolled in this study.

The effect of positive end-expiratory pressure on inflammatory cytokines during laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Objectives: To investigate effects of the positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) application of 10 cm H2O on the plasma levels of cytokines during laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Methods: A prospective study was conducted on 40 patients who presented to the Department of General Surgery, Medical Faculty, Turgut Özal University, Ankara, Turkey scheduled for laparoscopic cholecystectomy operation during a 10 month period from September 2012 to June 2013. Forty patients scheduled for laparoscopic cholecystectomy operation were randomly divided into 2 groups; ventilation through zero end-expiratory pressure (ZEEP) (0 cm H2O PEEP) (n=20), and PEEP (10 cm H2O PEEP) (n=20).

Chronic inhibition of tumor necrosis factor-α with infliximab improves myocardial deformation in parallel with aortic elasticity in rheumatoid arthritis.

Objectives: This study investigated the effects of infliximab, a monoclonal antibody against TNFα, on myocardial deformation and aortic elasticity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and the association of aortic elasticity with myocardial deformation.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of oral nifedipine on Doppler indices of the uterine artery (UtA) and umbilical artery (UA) before and 24 hours, 48 hours, and 1 week after tocolytic treatment.

Methods: This was a prospective, self-controlled, cohort study of 65 pregnant women undergoing nifedipine tocolysis. Doppler assessment of the UtA and UA was performed before treatment and 24 hours, 48 hours, and 1 week after the initial 4 doses of 10 mg of oral nifedipine, administered at 20-minute intervals.
