Background: Dialysis-related destructive spondyloarthropathy caused by beta-2 microglobulin (β2M) amyloid deposits in intervertebral discs is a major burden for patients undergoing long-term dialysis. This study aimed to quantify the presence of β2M amyloid deposits in the intervertebral disc tissue of such patients and analyze whether there was a significant correlation between β2M accumulation and the duration of dialysis.
Methods: Two groups of patients who had undergone surgery for degenerative spinal pathologies were selected: the dialysis group (n = 29) with long-term dialysis and the control group (n = 10) with no renal impairment.

Aim: This study aims to investigate the root canal anatomy of human extracted permanent maxillary anterior teeth in patients reporting to our dental institution in Chennai using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT).
Materials And Methods: A total of 285 maxillary anterior teeth comprising of 100 central incisors, 85 lateral incisors, and 100 canines extracted from various patients reporting to our institution were studied. The number of roots and number of canals were assessed; following which, the root canal anatomy of each tooth was evaluated for the canal pattern using CBCT.

Background: Pain is the major concern of patients attending dental clinics, and satisfactory pain relief has always been difficult to achieve. Since the pathophysiology of pain is a complex, central and peripheral nervous system process, combined analgesic regimens with different mechanisms of action as a multimodal approach are becoming popular among the clinicians and dentists.
Objectives: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity of ibuprofen and tramadol when used alone or in combination in animal models of pain and inflammation.

Background: Several classification systems for assessing the surgical difficulty of laparoscopic liver resection (LLR) have been proposed. We evaluated three current classification systems, including traditional Major/Minor Classification, Complexity Classification, and the Difficulty Scoring System for predicting the surgical outcomes after LLR.
Methods: We reviewed the clinical data of 301 patients who underwent LLR for hepatocellular carcinoma between March 1, 2004 and June 30, 2015.

Introduction: Non-Fermenting Gram negative bacilli (NFGNB) are emerging multi-drug resistant pathogens causing nosocomial infections. In recent years, carbapenem resistance in NFGNB has increased due to a variety of drug resistance mechanisms, the most common being production of carbapenemases.
Aim: To detect carbapenemase and metallo-β-lactamase (MBL) production in NFGNBs by four phenotypic tests and to compare the various phenotypic methods for detection of carbapenemase and MBL production in nosocomial NFGNB isolates.

While the incidence and prevalence of stroke is gradually decreasing in the western world, a parallel increase is seen in the developing world. It is a matter of special concern to us as approximately 20-30% of stroke occur in people younger than 45 years in India. Indians are prone to higher stroke risk because of urbanization, diabetes, cigarette smoking and high incidence of hypertension.

Laparoscopic liver resection (LLR) is becoming widely accepted for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Laparoscopic left lateral sectionectomy and minor laparoscopic liver resection are now considered standard approaches, especially for tumors located in the anterolateral segments of the liver. Laparoscopic left lateral sectionectomy in adult donors is also gaining acceptance for child liver transplantation in many centers.
