Introduction: In leprosy, immune system mediators that regulate the infectious process act in a complex manner and can lead to several clinical outcomes. To understand the behavior of these mediators we quantified the expression of annexin-A1 (ANXA1) in the peripheral blood and plasma as well as tissue leukocytes in all clinical forms of leprosy and compared with healthy controls.
Methods: Seventy healthy controls and 70 patients with leprosy, tuberculoid (TT) (n = 13), borderline tuberculoid (BT) (n = 15), borderline borderline (BB) (n = 13), borderline lepromatous (BL) (n = 15), and lepromatous leprosy (LL) (n = 14), were selected.

Background: Postoperative hypocalcemia after total thyroidectomy (TT) still remains common. This prospective observation study examined the role of intraoperative time period (IOP) and intravenous fluids (IVF) in transient and permanent (> 6 months) hypocalcemia post-TT.
Subjects And Method: Consecutive patients (n = 328; age = median (IQR); 34 (15) years; M:F = 65:263) with benign or malignant thyroid disease undergoing TT were evaluated for IOP, intraoperative IVF, serum corrected calcium, intact parathormone (iPTH), and 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25OHD) levels at baseline, 48 h, and 6 months post-TT.

Objective: To evaluate the pattern of dyslipidaemia, risk factors, and comorbidities in young Indian adults with dyslipidaemia.
Methods: A retrospective, multi-centric real-world study included individuals with dyslipidaemia, aged 18 - 45 years, attending to 623 hospitals/clinics across India. Data were collected retrospectively from medical records to note demographics, risk factors (smoking, alcohol consumption, sedentary lifestyle, family history of dyslipidaemia, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension), and clinical details (height, weight, waist circumference, body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, blood sugar, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), triglycerides (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoproteins (LDL-C), and high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C)).

Background: The purpose of this study was to compare the outcome of direct pulp capping by statins with α-tricalcium phosphate (α-TCP) and mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) on pulp tissue of human teeth through histological evaluation.
Aims: The aim of the present study is to compare the pulpal response of statins (simvastatin or atorvastatin) with α-TCP to that of MTA on human teeth by light microscopic histological evaluation.
Materials And Methods: Ninety intact premolar teeth scheduled for orthodontic extraction were used for the study.

Background: A newer trend has been seen recently to reuse the conventional drugs with distinct indications for the newer applications to speed up the drug discovery and development based on earlier records and safety data. Most of the non-cancerous agents could afford a little or tolerable side effects in individuals. However, the repositioning of these non-cancerous agents for successful anticancer therapy is an outstanding strategy for future anti-cancer drug development.

White-eyed blowout fracture is often found in pure orbital floor blowout fracture among pediatric patients. Unlike common orbital blowout fractures with apparent clinical signs, the diagnosis of white-eyed orbital blowout fractures is difficult because of minimal soft-tissue signs. This report describes an early missed-out diagnosis of a white-eyed blowout fracture in a 7-year-old child, due to negligible soft-tissue manifestation.

Neurological disorders are the most devastating and challenging diseases associated with the central nervous system (CNS). The blood-brain barrier (BBB) maintains homeostasis of the brain and contributes towards the maintenance of a very delicate microenvironment, impairing the transport of many therapeutics into the CNS and making the management of common neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), cerebrovascular diseases (CVDs) and traumatic brain injury (TBI), exceptionally complicated. Nanoparticle (NP) technology offers a platform for the design of tissue-specific drug carrying systems owing to its versatile and modifiable nature.

When teeth have responded poorly to conventional endodontic treatment or when they cannot be treated adequately by nonsurgical means, surgical endodontics remains the treatment of choice. Healing of apical lesions occurs by repair, most of the time. "Repair is the healing of a wound by tissue that does not fully restore the architecture or function of the affected unit".

Background: The presence and grading of oral epithelial dysplasia (OED) are considered the gold standard for predicting the malignant risk of oral potentially malignant disorders. However, inter-observer and intra-observer agreement in the context of reporting on OED grading has been reputedly considered unreliable.
Methods: We undertook a multi-centre study of six Indian oral pathologists to assess variations in reporting OED using the World Health Organization (WHO; 2005) system and also the recently introduced binary system.
