Article Synopsis
  • Craniosynostosis is a condition where skull sutures close early, requiring surgery, which can lead to significant blood loss and necessitates transfusions.
  • A literature review examined the use of tranexamic acid in pediatric patients undergoing this surgery, focusing on its effectiveness and safety.
  • Findings suggest that a lower dosage of tranexamic acid can substantially decrease blood loss and the need for blood transfusions without compromising safety, making it a preferable option in surgical settings.

Background: Oral mucosal lesions in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) patients, posing a concern for healthcare professionals, impact their oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL). This study aimed to evaluate the association between oral mucosal lesions and OHRQoL as measured by the validated Indonesian version of the oral health impact profile-14 questionnaire (OHIP-14) among people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA).

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at the Central Referral Hospital in West Java, Indonesia.

BACKGROUND Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR), and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) have recently been used as inflammatory biomarkers for cancer patients. This study aims to determine the role of pretreatment NLR, LMR, and PLR in predicting chemoresistance in gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN) patients. MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 129 low-risk and high-risk GTN patients who had received first-line chemotherapy were enrolled in this historical cohort study.

Introduction: Fifteen to twenty percent of the patients with complete hydatidiform mole transform malignancy into gestational trophoblastic tumors. The marked proliferation of trophoblastic cells is one of the characteristics that determines high risk for the occurrence of post-hydatidiform mole malignancy. The objective of the study was to analyze the histopathologic feature of the marked proliferation of trophoblastic cells as a role in post-hydatidiform mole malignancy that can be used as a determinant of the risk of malignancy post-hydatidiform mole.

Atrial remodeling with fibrosis has been well-described in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). We hypothesized that the left atrial (LA)-late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) extent on cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging is associated with LA pressure and can be a marker for suitable candidates for non-paroxysmal AF ablation. A total of 173 AF patients with an LA-LGE area on CMR imaging were enrolled.
