Cutaneous immune-related adverse events (cirAEs) may be associated with tumoral response and survival in patients using immune checkpoint inhibitors, but this relationship remains unclear because previous reports on the topic have various limitations. The purpose of this study was to examine the association of cirAEs with overall survival and progression-free survival in patients starting immune checkpoint inhibitors. A prospective observational study was conducted in a Spanish tertiary care hospital, including participants between March 2020 and May 2022.

Rapid multiplex molecular syndromic panels (RMMSP) (3 or more pathogens and time-to-results < 6 h) allow simultaneous detection of multiple pathogens and genotypic resistance markers. Their implementation has revolutionized the clinical landscape by significantly enhancing diagnostic accuracy and reducing time-to-results in different critical conditions. The current revision is a comprehensive but not systematic review of the literature.

Background: Breast cancer (BC) is the most common cancer in women and the leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. This heterogeneous disease has been historically considered a non-immunogenic type of cancer. However, recent advances in immunotherapy have increased the interest in knowing the role of the immune checkpoints (IC) and other immune regulation pathways in this neoplasia.

Unlabelled: Rapid microbiological diagnosis of the antibiotic susceptibility of Gram-negative bacilli is a priority in clinical microbiology, especially in cases of bacteremia. The rapid advancement of antimicrobial resistance proposes a challenge for empirical antibiotic therapy and shows the need for fast antibiotic susceptibility diagnostics to guide treatments. The QuickMIC System (Gradientech AB, Uppsala, Sweden) is a recently developed rapid diagnostic tool for antibiotic susceptibility testing.

Mental disorders account for a large and increasing health burden worldwide. Characterizing the spectrum of mental disorders and trends over time in adolescents should influence education policies and support preventative strategies at schools. Retrospective study of all hospitalizations in Spain in adolescents 11-18-years old, including mental disorders as diagnosis using the Spanish National Registry of Hospital Discharges.

Background: It has been suggested that maternal satisfaction should be included as an additional and appropriate outcome indicator in relation to the breastfeeding process. The aim of this study was to analyze the psychometric properties of various existing versions of the Maternal Breastfeeding Evaluation Scale in a Spanish sample.
Methods: This was a longitudinal observational study, evaluated at three different time points: in the hospital after delivery, and then at five and 12 months after delivery in a Spanish sample.

Introduction: Stringent regulations in pig farming, such as antibiotic control and the ban on certain additives and disinfectants, complicate disease control efforts. Despite the evolution of microbial communities inside the house environment, they maintain stability over the years, exhibiting characteristics specific to each type of production and, in some cases, unique to a particular company or farm production type. In addition, some infectious diseases are recurrent in specific farms, while other farms never present these diseases, suggesting a connection between the presence of these microorganisms in animals or their environment.

Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a critical complication after non-major trauma or surgery. While the risk and severity of VTE following major orthopedic surgery is well-documented, there is significant knowledge gap regarding, non-major trauma such as ankle sprains.
Methods: We analyzed data from the RIETE registry to assess the clinical characteristics, VTE prophylaxis usage, and outcomes in patients with VTE following ankle sprain versus those post elective knee arthroplasty.

Hand hygiene (HH) is the paramount measure used to prevent healthcare-associated infections. A repeated cross-sectional study was undertaken with direct observation of the degree of compliance on HH of healthcare personnel during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Between, 2018-2019, 9,083 HH opportunities were considered, and 5,821 in 2020-2022.

Background: Clinicians are increasingly prescribing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) to treat cancer, but the real-world incidence, characteristics and risk factors of cutaneous immune-related adverse events (cirAEs) are unclear.
Objectives: To determine the incidence, features and risk factors of cirAEs and to measure their possible association with extracutaneous toxicity.
Methods: We conducted a prospective observational study in a Spanish tertiary care hospital, including people who started an ICI between March 2020 and May 2022.

Background: shows resistance to several antibiotics and often develops such resistance during patient treatment.
Objective: Develop an in vitro model, using clinical isolates of , to compare the ability of the imipenem and imipenem/relebactam to generate resistant mutants to imipenem and to other antibiotics. Perform a genotypic analysis to detect how the selective pressure changes their genomes.

Bacteriophage therapy is considered one of the most promising tools to control zoonotic bacteria, such as , in broiler production. Phages exhibit high specificity for their targeted bacterial hosts, causing minimal disruption to the niche microbiota. However, data on the gut environment's response to phage therapy in poultry are limited.

Rheumatoid factor (RF) and anti-citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPAs) are the most frequently used rheumatoid arthritis (RA) diagnostic markers, but they are unable to anticipate the patient's evolution or response to treatment. The aim of this study was to identify possible severity biomarkers to predict an upcoming flare-up or remission period. To address this objective, sera and anticoagulated blood samples were collected from healthy controls (HCs; n = 39) and from early RA (n = 10), flare-up (n = 5), and remission (n = 16) patients.

Oxidative stress has been linked to the onset and progression of different neoplasia. Antioxidants might help prevent it by modulating biochemical processes involved in cell proliferation. Here, the aim was to evaluate the in vitro cytotoxic effect of Haloferax mediterranei bacterioruberin-rich carotenoid extracts (BRCE) (0-100 µg/ml) in six BC cell lines, representative of the intrinsic phenotypes and a healthy mammary epithelium cell line.

Advances in immunotherapy have increased interest in knowing the role of the immune system in breast cancer (BC) pathogenesis. Therefore, immune checkpoints (IC) and other pathways related to immune regulation, such as JAK2 and FoXO1, have emerged as potential targets for BC treatment. However, their intrinsic gene expression in vitro has not been extensively studied in this neoplasia.
