Coronavirus has left severe health impacts on the human population, globally. Still a significant number of cases are reported daily as no specific medications are available for its effective treatment. The presence of the CD147 receptor (human basigin) on the host cell facilitates the severe acute respiratory disease coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection.

Background: Accurate arrhythmia (atrial fibrillation (AF) and congestive heart failure (CHF)) detection is still a challenge in the biomedical signal-processing field. Different linear and nonlinear measures of the electrocardiogram (ECG) signal analysis are used to fix this problem.

Methods: Sample entropy (SampEn) is used as a nonlinear measure based on single series to detect healthy and arrhythmia subjects.

Design of optimal cascade control approach for LFM of interconnected power system.

ISA Trans

June 2023

Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar, Punjab 144011, India. Electronic address:

In the present era, due to increasing power demand and complex power system structures having various load disturbances, a load frequency management (LFM) scheme is indispensable to provide uninterrupted power to consumers. This research deals with a fractional-order proportional derivative - (one + fractional order integrator) (FOPD-(1+FOI)) cascade controller as a novel control structure to ameliorate the execution of automatic generation control (AGC) for the LFM of interconnected power system (PS). The implementation of this controller is uncomplicated, and it joins the output of the FOPD controller to (1+FOI) controller, where area control error and power error are considered in the outer and inner feedback control loops, respectively.

The effect of the flow and geometric parameters of a dimple-roughened absorber plate on the enactment of solar air collectors (SACs) with air-impinged jets was investigated in this study. The performance-defining criteria (PDCs) of a jet-impinged dimple-roughened SAC (JIDRSAC)-forced convection airflow system are significantly affected by variations in the system's control factors (CFs), such as the arc angle (α) ranging from 30° to 75°, dimple pitch ratio (p/D) ranging from 0.269 to 1.

Hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) is identified as a promising thermochemical technique to recover biofuels and bioenergy from waste biomass containing low energy and high moisture content. The wastewater generated during the HTL process (HTWW) are rich in nutrients and organics. The release of the nutrients and organics enriched HTWW would not only contaminate the water bodies but also lead to the loss of valued bioenergy sources, especially in the present time of the energy crisis.

An overabundance of MCM7 protein, a component of the minichromosome maintenance complex that normally initiates DNA replication, has been reported to cause different types of cancers with aggressive malignancy. Inhibition of MCM7 may lead to a significant reduction in cancer-associated cell proliferation. Despite such significance of MCM7 in cancer, the protein structure is yet to be resolved experimentally.

Band gap and photoluminescence (PL) properties were investigated for flame-synthesized carbon nanoparticles (CNPs) of four different particle size distributions. The particles were collected by varying the flow rates of fuel and oxidizer in a controllable co-flow diffusion flame. The results indicated the possibility of both direct and indirect band gaps in the synthesized CNPs.

The eruption of COVID-19 pandemic has led to the blossoming usage of face masks among individuals in the communal settings. To prevent the transmission of the virus, a mandatory mask-wearing rule in public areas has been enforced. Owing to the use of face masks in communities at different workplaces, an effective surveillance seems essential because several security analyses indicate that face masks may be used as a tool to hide the identity.

The abundance of synthetic polymers has increased due to their uncontrolled utilization and disposal in the environment. The recalcitrant nature of plastics leads to accumulation and saturation in the environment, which is a matter of great concern. An exponential rise has been reported in plastic pollution during the corona pandemic because of PPE kits, gloves, and face masks made up of single-use plastics.
