The emergence of hypervirulent strains of poses a significant threat in intensive care units (ICU). This study aimed to molecularly characterize hypervirulent strains isolated from ICU patients with respiratory infections. Six strains were isolated from ICU patients over one month.

To determine whether there is higher degree of platelet and/ or coagulation activation in sickle cell anaemia (SS) patients in complications and with clinical risk factors. A cross sectional study was conducted at a tertiary health care centre in central India with study groups: sickle cell disease (SCD): sickle cell anaemia (SS) and sickle cell trait (AS) consisting of 100 subjects each and controls (AA) with 40 subjects. Platelet aggregation (PA) with ADP, collagen and epinephrine, PT and aPTT were performed in all subjects and PA with ristocetin in ten candidates of each group.

Purpose: To compare efficacy and safety between the two modes of energy delivery-pulsed and continuous, in accelerated corneal collagen cross-linking (KXL) to stop the keratoconus advancement through topographical, visual, and refractive endpoints.

Methods: It was a prospective, comparative, randomized, interventional trial. Patients with bilateral progressive keratoconus were subjected to pulsed mode KXL (P-KXL) in the right and continuous mode KXL (C-KXL) treatment in the left eye.

Proliferative fasciitis (PF) is a rare pseudosarcomatous myofibroblastic benign tumor, a subcutaneous counterpart of proliferative myositis. Usually seen in upper extremities, no case has yet been documented in tongue or any other subsites in oral cavity. The present case becomes the first to be reported at this site as well as the first case of synchronous coexistent PF with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of tongue.

Interleukin 17(IL-17) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine produced mainly by Th17 cells. The present study was undertaken to investigate a possible association between IL-17 A genetic polymorphism at (-197A/G) and susceptibility to chronic and localized aggressive periodontitis (LAgP) in an Indian population. The study was carried out on 105 subjects, which included 35 LAgP patients, 35 chronic periodontitis patients and 35 healthy controls.
