Transient lactose intolerance secondary to infective diarrhoea is common in developing countries, & soya milk formula is commonly prescribed for its management. Lactose predigested milk feeding was done in 70 patients of test group while withdrawing lactose diet & 84.3% had control of motions with absent lactose in stool despite challenge feed, 3 days after withdrawal of lactose diet.

A comparative study for the identification of 32 known strains of Candida species on the basis of morphology on glucose agar, rice extract agar and corn meal agar with and without Tween 80 revealed that when Tween 80 is incorporated in the media identification is possible for 96.8% of the species within 48 hours on rice extract agar and for 96.8% of the species within 48 hours on rice extract agar and for 90.

A 21 year old female patient with primary amenorrhoea was diagnosed to have isolated gonadotropin deficiency with probable functional hypothalamic amenorrhoea. The evaluation included buccal smear for sex chromatin, trial of medroxy-progesterone acetate, trial of oestrogen-progesterone preparation and estimation of serum prolactin, gonadotrophin and oestrogen levels. When diagnosed as isolated gonadotropin deficiency, treatment with gonadotropin is rewarding.

Brahmi Rasayan, an Ayurvedic preparation, was studied in mice and rats for its effects on the central nervous system at oral doses ranging between 1 and 30 g/kg. Observational screening in mice was carried out following a multiparametric check list. The test material was studied for its effect on pentobarbitone hypnosis, motor co-ordination, tail-withdrawal reaction time, electroshock, chemoconvulsions, haloperidol-induced catalepsy and conditioned avoidance response.
