Cardiovascular Screening before Sports Participation: Results of 11487 Children.

Aim: In this study, it is aimed to analyze the data of children who were referred to our clinic for pre-participation sports screening.

Methods: Data, between September 2017 and December 2021, had been analyzed. All these subjects had been questioned for their personal and family medical stories and examined for cardiovascular system findings.

Familial Mediterranean fever: perspective on female fertility and disease course in pregnancy from a multicenter nationwide network.

The aim of this study was to analyze the pregnancy process, especially the Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) disease course and attack types during pregnancy, and to examine the relationship between disease-related factors and female infertility in FMF patients. The study, which was planned in a multicenter national network, included 643 female patients. 435 female patients who had regular sexual intercourse were questioned in terms of infertility.

Investigation of Retinal Vascular Parameters and Choroidal Vascular Index in Patients Developing Hyphema After Unilateral Blunt Trauma.

Background: To evaluate retinal and choroidal vascular changes in cases with hyphema after blunt ocular trauma that did not cause globe rupture or any retinal pathology.

Methods: This cross-sectional study included 29 patients who developed hyphema after unilateral blunt ocular trauma (BOT). The other healthy eyes of the same patients were evaluated as the control group.

A new perspective in the treatment follow-up of toxoplasma retinochoroiditis: Infiltrate thickness measurement.

Background: This study aimed to describe the spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) findings of active lesions in toxoplasma retinochoroiditis cases and to examine the changes in retinochoroidal infiltrate thickness after treatment.

Methods: A total of 21 newly diagnosed patients with ocular toxoplasmosis were included in this prospective study. A complete ophthalmologic examination and SD-OCT were performed at the first visit.

Subacute THYROiditis Related to SARS-CoV-2 VAccine and Covid-19 (THYROVAC Study): A Multicenter Nationwide Study.

Context: The aims of the study are to compare characteristics of subacute thyroiditis (SAT) related to different etiologies, and to identify predictors of recurrence of SAT and incident hypothyroidism.

Methods: This nationwide, multicenter, retrospective cohort study included 53 endocrinology centers in Turkey. The study participants were divided into either COVID-19-related SAT (Cov-SAT), SARS-CoV-2 vaccine-related SAT (Vac-SAT), or control SAT (Cont-SAT) groups.

Treatment efficacy of ribociclib or palbociclib plus letrozole in hormone receptor-positive/HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer.

Ribociclib, palbociclib and abemaciclib are currently approved CDK4/6 inhibitors along with aromatase inhibitors as the first-line standard-of-care for patients with hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer. The authors report retrospective real-life data for 600 patients with estrogen receptor- and/or progesterone receptor-positive and HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer who were treated with ribociclib and palbociclib in combination with letrozole. The results demonstrated that the combination of palbociclib or ribociclib with letrozole has similar progression-free survival and overall survival benefit in real life for the patient group with similar clinical features.

Comparison of both eyes anterior segment structures of patients with unilateral blunt trauma.

Background: To evaluate anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) data in patients with unilateral blunt ocular trauma (BOT), to determine the relationship of results with hyphema development.

Methods: 21 patients who received unilateral BOT were included in the study. Healthy eyes of patients were included in the control group.

Serum TSH, 25(OH) D and phosphorus levels predict weight loss in individuals with diabetes/prediabetes and morbid obesity: a single-center retrospective cohort analysis.

Background: To evaluate the association of vitamin D and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) with weight loss (WL) percentage (%) in patients with diabetes/prediabetes and Class II/III obesity.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was designed. Data were collected from a database of a referral endocrinology clinic that is prospectively and systematically generated.

Background: Perioperative FLOT regimen is a standard of care in locally advanced operable gastric and GEJ adenocarcinoma. We aimed to determine the efficacy, prognostic factors of perioperative FLOT chemotherapy in real-life gastric and GEJ tumors.

Methods: The data of patients who were treated with perioperative FLOT chemotherapy were retrospectively analyzed from 34 different oncology centers in Turkey.

Prognostic nutritional index as a novel marker for diabetic retinopathy in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Purpose: In recent years, the prognostic nutritional index (PNI), an easily obtainable nutritional inflammatory marker, has been introduced as an independent prognostic indicator for various types of cancers and cardiovascular diseases. However, its clinical importance in the area of ophthalmology is not well known yet. We aimed to elucidate the association between the PNI and the occurrence of diabetic retinopathy (DR) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

The Effectiveness of Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation in Patients With Subacromial Impingement Syndrome: A Randomized Controlled Study.

Objective: The aim of the study is to compare the effects of exercise training plus neuromuscular electrical stimulation with exercise training alone on shoulder function, pain, range of motion, and muscle strength in patients with subacromial impingement syndrome.

Design: Patients were randomly divided into groups of exercise training ( n = 24) and exercise training + neuromuscular electrical stimulation ( n = 24). Shoulder function was evaluated with the Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand Questionnaire, pain level was assessed with a visual analog scale, range of motion was measured with a goniometer, and muscle strength was assessed with a handheld dynamometer baseline and at the end of treatment (week 8).

Self-reported antibiotic stewardship and infection control measures from 57 intensive care units: An international ID-IRI survey.

We explored the self-reported antibiotic stewardship (AS), and infection prevention and control (IPC) activities in intensive care units (ICUs) of different income settings. A cross-sectional study was conducted using an online questionnaire to collect data about IPC and AS measures in participating ICUs. The study participants were Infectious Diseases-International Research Initiative (IDI-IR) members, committed as per their institutional agreement form.

Young children's sleep patterns and problems in paediatric primary healthcare settings: a multicentre cross-sectional study from a nationally representative sample.

Studies describing paediatric sleep patterns are needed by taking culture into consideration. The aim of this study was to identify parent-reported sleep-wake patterns in young children and explore possible factors influencing sleep problems. The mothers of 2,434 young children enrolled from well-child outpatient clinics in Turkey completed an online survey including sociodemographic variables, Brief Infant Sleep Questionnaire, Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale and Generalised Anxiety Disorder scales.

Cutaneous reactions after COVID-19 vaccination in Turkey: A multicenter study.

Objectives: In this study covering all of Turkey, we aimed to define cutaneous and systemic adverse reactions in our patient population after COVID-19 vaccination with the Sinovac/CoronaVac (inactivated SARS-CoV-2) and Pfizer/BioNTech (BNT162b2) vaccines.

Methods: This prospective, cross-sectional study included individuals presenting to the dermatology or emergency outpatient clinics of a total of 19 centers after having been vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccines. Systemic, local injection site, and non-local cutaneous reactions after vaccination were identified, and their rates were determined.

Assessment of biochemical bone markers of osteoporosis in children with thalassemia major.

Background: Beta thalassemia major (β-TM) is a common cause of skeletal morbidity and is associated with increased bone fracture risk, particularly in inadequately transfused children. The aim of this study was to investigate some potential biochemical markers as possible early predictors of BMD variations in children with β-TM.

Methods: The study included 38 children with β-TM and 40 sex-age matched controls.

A clinical follow-up study of dialectical behavior therapy skills groups among female adolescents diagnosed with depressive disorder.

Our aim was to evaluate longitudinal data for adolescents who were treated with Dialectical Behavior therapy (DBT) skills groups having been previously diagnosed with depressive disorder. Intervention with an observational cross-sectional design was implemented to evaluate the treatment outcome of a 10-week DBT skills groups with female adolescents with depression. After the patients were identified for enrollment, parents and adolescents were evaluated with psychometric measurements pre-, post-intervention, and at one-year follow-up.

Efficacy and safety of tofacitinib in rheumatoid arthritis-associated interstitial lung disease: TReasure real-life data.

Objectives: Rheumatoid arthritis associated interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD) is a major concern in RA. These patients have been included in clinical trials and in the post-marketing setting of RA patients using tofacitinib. We aimed to assess the real-life efficacy and safety of tofacitinib in patients with RA-ILD.

Determination of microRNAs associated with adverse left ventricular remodeling after myocardial infarction.

Increasing evidence indicates that microRNA (miRNA) regulated mechanisms in myocardial healing and ventricular remodeling following acute myocardial infarction (AMI). We aim to comprehensively investigate changes of exosomal miRNA profile during the post-MI period and determine potential miRNAs associated to adverse left ventricular remodeling (ALVR). We prospectively evaluated ST-elevated MI patients with cardiac magnetic resonance imaging at the 2 weeks and 6 months after AMI (n = 10).

The effect of intravesical cocktail therapy combined with low-dose amitriptyline on primary bladder pain syndrome.

Introduction And Hypothesis: We compared the effectiveness of intravesical combination treatment and intravesical treatment plus low-dose amitriptyline in patients with primary bladder pain syndrome (PBPS).

Methods: A total of 53 patients were included in the study. Demographic data, voiding frequency, nocturia, visual analog scale (VAS) scores, validated O'Leary-Sant IC Symptom Index (ICSI), and IC Problem Index (ICPI) scores and scores on the Short Form-36 (SF-36) questionnaire were collected from the patients at the beginning of the treatment, and at the 6th week and 6th month of the treatment.

Investigation of effect of nintedanib in experimental uveitis model.

Purpose: This study aims to investigate the protective efficacy of nintedanib in experimental uveitis induced by endotoxins.

Materials And Methods: In this study, 24 Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into three groups: Group I was the healthy control with no uveitis that did not receive any treatment, Group II (sham) group did not receive treatment, and Group III (nintedanib) received oral nintedanib for 10 days. On the 10th day, endotoxin-induced uveitis (EIU) was induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) injection in Groups II and III.

Association of changes in the infarct and remote zone myocardial tissue with cardiac remodeling after myocardial infarction: a T1 and T2 mapping study.

Tissue structure in the infarct and remote zone myocardium post-acute myocardial infarction (MI) may offer prognostic information concerning left ventricular remodeling. We aimed to identify or establish a relationship between adverse remodeling (AR) and changes (Δ) in T1, T2 mapping and extracellular volume (ECV) in post MI periods. Fifty-four MI patients underwent 3 Tesla CMR performed 2 weeks (acute phase) and 6 months post-MI.

Identifying Clinical Characteristics of Hypoparathyroidism in Turkey: HIPOPARATURK-NET Study.

Hypoparathyroidism is an orphan disease with ill-defined epidemiology that is subject to geographic variability. We conducted this study to assess the demographics, etiologic distribution, treatment patterns and complication frequency of patients with chronic hypoparathyroidism in Turkey. This is a retrospective, cross-sectional database study, with collaboration of 30 endocrinology centers located in 20 cities across seven geographical regions of Turkey.

Serum hepcidin / ferroportin levels in bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

Background: Despite several alternatives for cellular iron influx, the only mechanism for cellular iron efflux is ferroportin mediated active transport. In cases of ferroportin dysfunction, iron accumulates in the cell and causes ferroptosis. Hepcidin suppresses ferroportin levels and inflammatory activation increases hepcidin production.

Addition of the duration of ST segment depression to Duke treadmill score for diagnostic accuracy of exercise electrocardiography to predict obstructive coronary artery disease.

Introduction: Exercise electrocardiography (EET) is a safe and cost-effective method to predict the presence, prognosis, and severity of coronary artery disease (CAD). Various score models have been developed to increase predictive power of EET. In this study, we aimed to evaluate whether adding ST depression duration could have an effect on increasing the value of Duke treadmill score (DTS) in predicting obstructive CAD.
