Objective: This study was designed to determine the role of BRAF V600E and TERT mutations in the incidence of neck lymph node (LN) metastasis in patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC).

Methods: This was a cross-sectional study, involving PTC patients at Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Jakarta.

Background: As long-term, regular aesthetic botulinum neurotoxin A (BoNT-A) use becomes more commonplace, it is vital to understand real-world risk factors and impact of BoNT-A immunoresistance. The first Aesthetic Council on Ethical Use of Neurotoxin Delivery panel discussed issues relating to BoNT-A immunoresistance from the health care professionals' (HCPs') perspective. Understanding the implications of BoNT-A immunoresistance from the aesthetic patient's viewpoint allows HCPs to better support patients throughout their aesthetic treatment journey.

IDeRare: a lightweight and extensible open-source phenotype and exome analysis pipeline for germline rare disease diagnosis.

Objectives: Diagnosing rare diseases is an arduous and challenging process in clinical settings, resulting in the late discovery of novel variants and referral loops. To help clinicians, we built IDeRare pipelines to accelerate phenotype-genotype analysis for patients with suspected rare diseases.

This case report aimed to show the presence of OSA in stroke can contribute to the increasing chance of mortality and morbidity. Prevalence and factors associated with celiac disease in high-risk patients with functional gastrointestinal disorders.

Celiac disease (CD) is an autoimmune disease of the small intestine triggered by the consumption of gluten-containing foods in individuals with a genetic predisposition. CD was a rare disease until 20 years ago, when the prevalence increased. Currently, there is no data on the prevalence of CD in high-risk adult populations in Indonesia, even though there is a trend of increasing gluten consumption.

Factors correlating to decisions for prescribing pharmacological treatment and referrals in suspected peripheral neuropathy cases in chat consultation-based application.

Introduction: Since the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been increasing use ofchat-based telemedicine, including for patients with neuropathy complaints. It is imperative to learn how to effectively use telemedicine. This study describes the characteristics of patients with neuropathy complaints in chat-based telemedicine services in Indonesia and their influence on treatment decisions and referrals.

Antimicrobial resistance among common bacterial pathogens in Indonesia: a systematic review.

Background: The WHO Global Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance System (GLASS) aims to describe antimicrobial resistance (AMR) patterns and trends in common bacterial pathogens, but data remain limited in many low and middle-income countries including Indonesia.

Methods: We systematically searched Embase, PubMed and Global Health Database and three Indonesian databases for original peer-reviewed articles in English and Indonesian, published between January 1, 2000 and May 25, 2023, that reported antimicrobial susceptibility for the 12 GLASS target pathogens from human samples. Pooled AMR prevalence estimates were calculated for relevant pathogen-antimicrobial combinations accounting for the sampling weights of the studies (PROSPERO: CRD42019155379).

The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health to map leprosy-related disability in rural and remote areas in Indonesia.

The International Classification of Function, Disability, and Health (ICF-WHO, 2001) recognizes several dimensions of disability, such as body structure and function (and impairment thereof), activity (and activity restrictions) and participation (and participation restriction) and their interactions with contextual factor (personal and environmental). In this study, we map and analyse the relationship between the components of ICF in leprosy patients from two rural areas in Indonesia: Lewoleba (East Nusa Tenggara) and Likupang (North Minahasa). This study was part of a community outreach program by the KATAMATAKU team from Universitas Indonesia.

Triamcinolone injection in the treatment of lid retraction for thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy: A systematic review.

Introduction And Objectives: Lid retraction is one of the most common symptoms of Thyroid-Associated Ophthalmopathy (TAO), which potentially precipitates various complications, such as dry eyes, exposure keratopathy, and cosmetic concerns. Local corticosteroid injections, such as triamcinolone, have been proposed as a choice of treatment for TAO. This approach may be a favorable alternative for patients intolerant to the systemic effects of high-dose methylprednisolone.

Background: Although the number of female physicians in the United States has been increasing, most practicing surgeons in the United States are men. By contrast, Indonesia has achieved notable gender parity among surgeons, with the number of women practicing as plastic surgeons projected to soon surpass that of men. Achieving greater female representation in plastic surgery is important for delivering high-quality care, especially in the face of physician shortages and high burnout rates.

Backward logistic regression analysis of the determinants of the hand function among patients with leprosy: A cross-sectional study.

Introduction: The hands are the most common site of disability in leprosy. Hand dysfunction could result in difficulty performing activities of daily living. Therefore, hand function should be regularly assessed to ensure that any decrease in hand function could be diagnosed earlier.

Evaluation of SARS-CoV-2 quantification from oropharyngeal swabs, nasopharyngeal swabs, and naso-oropharyngeal swabs: A cross-sectional study.

The current naso-oropharyngeal swab for SARS-CoV-2 detection faces several problems, such as waste issues and its use for quantitative studies. This study aimed to evaluate the total RNA and viral loads from different upper respiratory tract swabs types and whether SARS-CoV-2 quantification can use the current internal control for normalization. This cross-sectional study collected positive specimens with single oropharyngeal or nasopharyngeal swabs and naso-oropharyngeal swabs.

Internists are at the forefront of providing care for COVID-19 patients. This situation adds more strain on already overburdened internists, particularly in Indonesia, where resources are scarce and unevenly distributed. The pandemic altered working conditions due to restrictions and regulatory changes.

It has not been documented that regular-sized conventional farm-breed pigs, generally bred for meat production, can be used to generate hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) animal models. The goal of this study was to investigate how N-diethylnitrosamine (DENA) and phenobarbital (PB) together can generate HCC in ordinary farmed pigs.
