Introduction: Mutations in the tyrosine kinase domain of the epidermal growth factor receptor gene (EGFR) are key driver alterations in lung adenocarcinomas (ADCAs). Exon 19 deletions (exon19del) and exon 21 L858R (L858R) mutations account for 70-90 % of all such alterations and predict sensitivity to EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). However, the predictive value of uncommon and compound EGFR mutations for TKIs has not been clearly established.

Background: Pain is still a common feature in all types of cancers including head and neck and thoracic cancer. Neuromodulatory techniques have gained popularity over opioids in recent times because of the risks associated with chronic opioid therapy. There are no clinical trials evaluating the efficacy of scrambler therapy (ST) for the management of pain due to head and neck and thoracic cancer.

Introduction: Inactivating mutations of the SMARCA4 (SWI/SNF-related, matrix-associated, actin-dependent regulator of chromatin, subfamily A, member 4) gene and/or loss of the BRG1 (brahma-related gene 1) protein defines SMARCA4-deficient thoracic sarcoma (SMARCA4-dTS), an aggressive neoplasm with a usually fatal outcome. Similar SMARCA4 mutations/BRG1 loss is also seen in a subset of non-small cell lung carcinomas (NSCLCs; SMARCA4-dNSCLCs) that lack alterations in currently targetable oncogenic drivers, that is, EGFR, ALK, and ROS1. There is limited knowledge on the cytomorphological features of these SMARCA4-deficient thoracic neoplasms.

Background: Certain types of cancer pain have remained hard to control even by highly skilled pain experts. Uncontrolled cancer pain can have severe effects on quality of life, physical functioning, and leads to psychological distress. From this perspective, nonpharmacologic modalities of treatment are important.

Introduction: CD123 is overexpressed in many hematologic malignancies and found to be useful in characterizing leukemic blasts of both acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and B-acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). CD123 has been recently found to be a marker of leukemic stem cells, and its utility to measure residual disease and potential role in disease relapse is under evaluation.
Materials And Methods: Herein, we have evaluated the expression of CD123 in 757 samples of acute leukemia including 479 treatment-naive and 278 follow-up samples and compared with post-induction morphologic complete remission and measurable residual disease (MRD) status.

Background: CT-guided tissue sampling is a very effective tool. However, false-negative results are obtained when regions such as necrotic core or surrounding reactive fibrosis and inflammation are sampled. PET/CT-guided sampling can circumvent these limitations.

Early-stage detection of leukemia is a critical determinant for successful treatment of the disease and can increase the survival rate of leukemia patients. The factors limiting the current screening approaches to leukemia include low sensitivity and specificity, high costs, and a low participation rate. An approach based on novel and innovative biomarkers with high accuracy from peripheral blood offers a comfortable and appealing alternative to patients, potentially leading to a higher participation rate.

Scrambler therapy (ST) is a novel noninvasive modality for treatment of chronic neuropathic and cancer pain using 5 artificial neurons. The principle with Scrambler Therapy is that synthetic "non-pain" information is transmitted by C fiber surface receptors. Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy can markedly deteriorate patient's quality of life and can also negatively affect compliance with the anticancer treatment.

Objective: Histopathological examination (HPE) is the current gold standard for assessing chemotherapy response to tumor, but it is possible only after surgery. The purpose of the study was to develop a noninvasive, imaging-based robust method to delineate, visualize, and quantify the proportions of necrosis and viable tissue present within the tumor along with peritumoral edema before and after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) and to evaluate treatment response with correlation to HPE necrosis after surgery.
Methods: The MRI dataset of 30 patients (N = 30; male:female = 24:6; age = 17.

Efforts are being made to scale up human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination for adolescent girls in India. Bivalent and quadrivalent HPV vaccines were licensed in the country in 2008, and a nonavalent vaccine was licensed in 2018. Demonstration projects initiated in Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat in 2009 introduced HPV vaccination in public health services in India.

Immune parameters show characteristic normal baseline levels and variance in the population. We characterised the degree of inter-individual and within-individual variation over one-year time period in 33 immune cell subsets by flow cytometry in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from 43 healthy young adult volunteers. Our analysis revealed that immune subsets that showed low variability between individuals also showed low short-term fluctuations within-individuals, as well as concordance in siblings.

Background: Genomic studies have delineated distinct molecular subgroups of urothelial carcinomas whose prognostic impact extends beyond traditional stage and grade groupings. The 'basal' subgroup shows increased gene expression levels of KRT5, KRT6, and KRT14 and low expression levels of GATA binding protein 3, and is associated with an extremely poor outcome. Identification of this subset is necessary for improved patient management and research on targeted therapies.

The etiopathologies behind autoimmune thyroid diseases (AITDs) unravel misbehavior of immune components leading to the corruption of immune homeostasis where thyroid autoantigens turn foe to the self. In AITDs lymphocytic infiltration in the thyroid shows up a deranged immune system charging the follicular cells of the thyroid gland (thyrocytes) leading to the condition of either hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism. The inflammation in AITDs consistently associate with ER function due to which disturbances in the ER protein homeostasis leads to unfolded protein response (UPR) that promotes pathogenesis of autoimmunity.

Background: Carcinoma cervix is the second most common type of cancer in the world. With the increasing proportion of women surviving carcinoma of the cervix, quality of life has been an important clinical issue. Since there are very few studies from India, this study is to assess urinary dysfunction issues in patients of carcinoma cervix treated with multimodality therapy using the LENT SOMA scores.
