Although online reviews are used by many people to make decisions, these reviews may be biased. On the basis of 1.2 billion observations across five leading online review platforms and two lab studies (n = 1,172 and n = 1,165; US respondents fluent in English), we provide evidence for a consistent and systematic gender rating gap: women's mean online review ratings are significantly more favourable than men's.

National science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education emphasizes science practices, such as hands-on learning. We describe a week-long activity where students participate in real-world scientific discovery, including "hunting" for bacteriophage in a variety of environmental samples. First, the students collect samples, then look for evidence of phage on "bait" bacteria, and finally amplify/purify the phages for further study.

The Galápagos Archipelago is at the forefront of the Anthropocene, facing intensifying pressures from its growing human footprint and accelerated global connectivity. Despite this, little is currently known of its chemical landscape. This review critically examines the drivers, sources, distribution and fate of oil, plastics, pesticides, persistent organic pollutants and heavy metals in the Galápagos Marine Reserve, identifying pollutant hotspots and evaluating rapid assessment methods and sentinel species that could aid regional monitoring.

Traditional milligram per kilogram (mg/kg) dosing of enoxaparin in neonates frequently fails to achieve target anti-Xa levels promptly, necessitating repeated laboratory monitoring and dose adjustments. This study investigated whether a personalized dosing strategy based on predicted individual clearance and volume of distribution could improve outcomes, comparing standard-of-care (SOC) mg/kg dosing to pharmacokinetic (PK) model-informed precision dosing (MIPD). A retrospective analysis was conducted on hospitalized neonates treated with enoxaparin at less than 44 weeks postmenstrual age from 2019 to 2022.

Background: Journeying with patients throughout their cancer trajectory and caring for them at the end of life can lead to emotional and moral distress in oncologists, negatively impacting their personal and professional identities. A better understanding of how transitions in care goals affect oncologists can shed light on the challenges faced and the support required. This study explored the impact of care transitions on oncologists' professional identity formation (PIF).

Background And Objectives: Non-specific neck and shoulder pain (NSNSP) is prevalent among working adults. The increased use of electronic devices and prevalence of remote working and study following the COVID-19 pandemic have raised concerns about the potential rise in such conditions. This study aims to investigate the associations between work-related, lifestyle factors and NSNSP in the adult Southeast Asian Singaporean population.

Background: The role of serotonin in pulmonary arterial hypertension has been extensively studied in recent decades, with preclinical data strongly indicating involvement in disease pathogenesis; however, clinical studies have yielded mixed results.
Methods: ELEVATE-2 was a phase 2b dose-ranging, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicentre trial investigating rodatristat ethyl as a treatment for patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension. The study was conducted at 64 sites across 16 countries in Europe and North America.

Microorganisms, including bacteria, archaea, viruses, fungi, and protists, are essential to life on Earth and the functioning of the biosphere. Here, we discuss the key roles of microorganisms in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), highlighting recent and emerging advances in microbial research and technology that can facilitate our transition toward a sustainable future. Given the central role of microorganisms in the biochemical processing of elements, synthesizing new materials, supporting human health, and facilitating life in managed and natural landscapes, microbial research and technologies are directly or indirectly relevant for achieving each of the SDGs.

Since its inception nearly a half century ago, CHARMM has been playing a central role in computational biochemistry and biophysics. Commensurate with the developments in experimental research and advances in computer hardware, the range of methods and applicability of CHARMM have also grown. This review summarizes major developments that occurred after 2009 when the last review of CHARMM was published.

Evidence for the efficacy of cognitive remediation in schizophrenia has been established, but its implementation in under-resourced community-based settings is less well-studied. In recent years, interventions have also focused on the strategy-learning approach in favor of drill-and-practice.

This editorial aimed to consolidate the current evidence in literature on the association between myasthenia gravis (MG) and cardiac involvement, focusing on the impact of thymoma, antistriational antibodies, and late-onset MG. Additionally, the study aimed to explore the influence of genetic differences among populations on the association with cardiac disease. We conducted a review of existing literature in PubMed and Google Scholar to find relevant studies on cardiac involvement in MG.

Background: Mentoring can help shape how medical students think, feel, and act as physicians. Yet, the mechanism in which it influences this process of professional identity formation (PIF) remains poorly understood. Through the lens of the ecological systems theory, this study explores the interconnected and dynamic system of mentoring relationships and resources that support professional development and growth within the Palliative Medicine Initiative (PMI), a structured research peer mentoring program.

Considering p53's pivotal role as a tumor suppressor protein, proactive identification and characterization of potentially harmful p53 mutations are crucial before they appear in the population. To address this, four computational prediction tools-SIFT, Polyphen-2, PhD-SNP, and MutPred2-utilizing sequence-based and machine-learning algorithms, were employed to identify potentially deleterious p53 nsSNPs (nonsynonymous single nucleotide polymorphisms) that may impact p53 structure, dynamics, and binding with DNA. These computational methods identified three variants, namely, C141Y, C238S, and L265P, as detrimental to p53 stability.
