Midterm complications after primary obstetrical anal sphincter injury repair in France.

Background: Incidence of complications following obstetrical anal sphincter injury (OASI) during vaginal delivery are poorly defined. They are only studied in high level maternities, small cohorts, all stages of perineal tear or in low-income countries. The aim of our study was to describe complications after primary OASI repair following a vaginal delivery in all French maternity wards at short and midterm and to assess factors associated with complication occurrence.

Background: Crohn's disease (CD) is a progressive, destructive, and disabling disorder. Our study aimed to assess changes over time in the Lémann index (LI) and the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Disability Index (IBD-DI) in a cohort of CD patients.

Methods: This was a single-center prospective cohort study of 130 consecutive CD patients with a follow-up of at least 4 years.

We performed a retrospective, observational, before-and-after study at Lille University Medical Center (Lille, France) by including consecutive patients operated on between 2011 and 2018 for Uphold mesh insertion and between 2018 to 2020 for anterior sacrospinous ligament fixation.

Efficiency of a multidisciplinary team care approach through a short hospitalization of patients with poorly controlled diabetes mellitus: a 12 months prospective monocentric study.

A multidisciplinary team is composed of various healthcare professionals that ensure a multifaceted approach on a group of patients. Standards for diabetes medical care note the importance of multidisciplinary diabetes care teams. We applied our model of multidisciplinary approach by structuring it in a determined five days hospitalization.

Burden of influenza disease in children under 2 years of age hospitalized between 2011 and 2020 in France.

Background: Although influenza viruses cause significant morbidity and mortality worldwide, the impact of these infections on children in France and in other European countries has not been extensively characterized. The primary objective of the present study was to describe the burden of influenza disease on hospitalized children under 2 years of age in France, using data from the national hospital discharge summary database (Programme de Médicalisation des Systèmes d'Information, PMSI).

Methods: In a retrospective study of hospital admissions for influenza among children under the age of 2 in France, we extracted and analyzed hospital administrative data from the PMSI database (from January 1, 2011, to December 31, 2020).

Predictive value of 4th post-operative-day CRP in the early detection of complications after laparoscopic bowel resection for endometriosis.

Objective: Post-operative CRP on postoperative day 4 (POD) is used for the early detection of complications after colorectal surgery for cancer, but there is no evidence yet that justifies the use of this marker for bowel resection in case of endometriosis.

Study Design: We retrospectively included 66 consecutive patients who underwent bowel resection for endometriosis (stage 4) in Lille university hospital, France, from August 1, 2015 until January 31, 2017. The composite endpoint of our study included anastomotic leakages, infectious or thrombo-embolic complications, hematomas, bowel stenosis, rectorrhagia, voiding dysfunction, and rehospitalization for related symptoms.

Determinants of influenza vaccination uptake in pregnancy: a large single-Centre cohort study.

Background: Although vaccination of pregnant women against influenza is recommended, the vaccination rate remains low. We conducted a study to identify determinants of influenza vaccination uptake in pregnancy in order to identify strategies to improve seasonal influenza vaccination rates.

Methods: Prospective observational hospital-based study in the French hospital performing the highest number of deliveries, located in the city of Lille, among all women who had given birth during the 2014-2015 influenza season.

Hypercalcemia is common during Pneumocystis pneumonia in kidney transplant recipients.

A few cases of hypercalcemia related to Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PJP) have previously been described, supposedly associated with an 1α-hydroxylase enzyme-dependent mechanism. The prevalence and significance of hypercalcemia in PJP remain unclear, especially in kidney transplant recipients (KTR) who frequently display hypercalcemia via persisting hyperparathyroidism. We here retrospectively identified all microbiologically-proven PJP in adult KTR from 2005 to 2017 in the Lille University Hospital, and studied the mineral and bone metabolism parameters during the peri-infectious period.

Prolonged suppressive antibiotic therapy for prosthetic joint infection in the elderly: a national multicentre cohort study.

During prosthetic joint infection (PJI), optimal surgical management with exchange of the device is sometimes impossible, especially in the elderly population. Thus, prolonged suppressive antibiotic therapy (PSAT) is the only option to prevent acute sepsis, but little is known about this strategy. We aimed to describe the characteristics, outcome and tolerance of PSAT in elderly patients with PJI.

Objective: The aim of the study was to explore the impact of the absence of band fixation on the reoperation rate and to identify other risk factors for long-term complications.

Background: Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding has been demonstrated to permit important weight loss and comorbidity improvement, but some bands will have to be removed mainly for failure or in case of planned 2-step surgery. Then, the absence of a gastro-gastric suture (GGS) would allow easier band removal.

First case of herpetic meningoencephalitis treated with ganciclovir.

Consensus treatment for herpetic meningoencephalitis is intravenous aciclovir but no guidelines are available for alternative treatment in case of renal failure induced by aciclovir. We report to the best of our knowledge, the first case of herpetic meningoencephalitis treated with success by ganciclovir.

Management of Takotsubo cardiomyopathy in non-academic hospitals in France: The Observational French SyndromEs of TakoTsubo (OFSETT) study.

Background: Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TTC) is a rare condition characterized by a sudden temporary weakening of the heart. TTC can mimic acute myocardial infarction and is associated with a minimal release of myocardial biomarkers in the absence of obstructive coronary artery disease.

Aims: To provide an extensive description of patients admitted to hospital for TTC throughout France and to study the management and outcomes of these patients.

Treatment discontinuation in multiple sclerosis: The French Web-based survey ALLIANCE.

Background: In multiple sclerosis (MS), treatment discontinuation leads to a higher risk of relapse, poorer quality of life and greater economic impact.

Objective: The objective of this work is to evaluate treatment discontinuation in MS, the reasons for this and the reasons for treatment resumption.
