Chinese Medicine Sequential Therapy Improves Pregnancy Outcomes after Surgery for Endometriosis-Associated Infertility: A Multicenter Randomized Double-blind Placebo Parallel Controlled Clinical Trial.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Chinese medicine (CM) improving pregnancy outcomes after surgery for endometriosis-associated infertility.

Methods: A multicenter, randomized, double-blind placebo parallel controlled clinical trial was designed. A total of 202 patients who had laparoscopy for endometriosis-associated infertility with qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome were included and randomly divided into the CM treatment group and placebo control group at a ratio of 1:1 using a central block randomization from May 2014 to September 2017, 101 patients in each group.

Long-Term Clinical Outcomes of Percutaneous Cervical Nucleoplasty for Cervical Degenerative Diseases with Neck Pain and Cervical Vertigo.

Background: Good short- and mid-term clinical efficacy of percutaneous cervical nucleoplasty (PCN) for cervical degenerative diseases (CDD) with neck pain has been reported. However, few studies have assessed its long-term influence in patients with both neck pain and cervical vertigo. This study aimed to evaluate the curative efficacy of PCN for CDD with neck pain and cervical vertigo with minimum of 6 years of follow-up.

Objective: MiR-551b has been reported to display tumor-suppressive and oncogenic potential in several cancers, but there has been no study on the roles of miR-551b in colorectal cancer (CRC). In this work, we aimed to explore the potential functions and mechanisms of miR-551b in the modulation of the CRC progression.

Patients And Methods: The expressions of miR-551b were examined in 122 pairs of CRC cancer tissues and adjacent non-tumor samples by Real Time-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR).

Role and molecular mechanism of stem cells in colorectal cancer initiation.

In recent years, the rate of colorectal cancer has sharply increased, especially in China, where it ranks second for the number of cancer fatalities. Currently, the treatment of colorectal cancer patients involves the combination of resection surgery and treatment with postoperative anticancer drugs such as 5-FU and oxaliplatin. Background: Multidrug resistance is a growing global public health threat with far more serious consequences than generally anticipated. In this study, we investigated the antibiotic resistance and genomic traits of a clinical strain of LCT-EC001.

Results: LCT-EC001 was resistant to 16 kinds of widely used antibiotics, including fourth-generation cephalosporins and carbapenems.

Intraspinal administration of interleukin-7 promotes neuronal apoptosis and limits functional recovery through JAK/STAT5 pathway following spinal cord injury.

It has been previously reported that the blockade of interleukin-7 receptor (IL-7R) promotes functional recovery following spinal cord injury (SCI), however, the direct function and molecular mechanism of IL-7 involved in this pathogenic process are unclear. Here, we report that, contrary to IL-7R blockade, the intraspinal administration of IL-7 limits functional recovery following SCI. In addition, IL-7 treatment promotes neuronal apoptosis in spinal cord lesions, which may be attributed to exacerbated focal inflammatory response, as shown by increased accumulation of activated microglia/macrophage and production of proinflammatory mediators.

Study on the incidence and risk factor of silent cerebrovascular disease in young adults with first-ever stroke.

Silent cerebrovascular diseases, including silent brain infarcts (SBI), white matter hyperintensity (WMH), and cerebral microbleed, are closely correlated with stroke progression. The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence and potential risk factors of SBI and WMH in young patients with first-ever stroke.A total of 400 young patients with first-ever stroke were included in this study and received magnetic resonance imaging test.

Bisindole alkaloids from Tabernaemontana corymbosa.

Continued study in bioactive monoterpenoid alkaloids led to the isolation of nine undescribed alkaloids, taberyunines A-I, together with 32 known ones from the aerial parts of Tabernaemontana corymbosa Roxb. ex Wall (Apocynaceae). Among the undescribed alkaloids, taberyunines A-G and H-I were assigned to Aspidosperma-Aspidosperma and Vobasinyl-Ibogan type bisindoles, respectively.

The impact of chemotherapy on persistent ground-glass nodules in patients with lung adenocarcinoma.

Backgrounds: To evaluate the response of persistent ground glass nodules (GGNs) in patients with lung adenocarcinoma treated with platinum-based chemotherapy on computed tomography (CT).

Methods: We retrospectively studied patients with GGNs that met the following criteria: (I) GGNs found in patients with lung adenocarcinoma, which persist for more than 3 months; (II) patients treated with platinum-based (cisplatin or carboplatin) chemotherapy for at least 2 cycles; (III) ground glass proportion ¡Ý50%. For each patient, if more than two CTs satisfied the inclusion criteria, then the baseline and last CTs were used for analysis, defined as CT1 and CT2.

Comparative study of neural differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells by different induction methods.

Neurogenic differentiation of bone marrow (BM) mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) offers a new hope for patients with many neurological disorders. Several chemical inducers are employed to induce BMMSCs differentiation into nerve cells. In the present study, we compared different inducers [2-mercaptoethanol (BME), tretinoin (ATRA), dimethyl sulfoxide/butylated hydroxyanisole (DMSO/BHA), and indomethacin/3-isobutyl-1-methylxanthine (indomethacin/IBMX)] on the neurogenic differentiation of BMMSCs and aimed to identify a more efficient and safer method.

Abnormal differentiation of dental pulp cells in cleidocranial dysplasia.

Cleidocranial dysplasia (CCD) is a skeletal dysplasia caused by heterozygous mutations of RUNX2, a gene that is essential for the mineralization of bone and tooth. We isolated primary dental pulp cells from a 10-y-old patient and tested their proliferative capacity, alkaline phosphatase activity, and ability to form mineralized nodules, in comparison with those from 7 healthy children. All these measures were reduced in primary dental pulp cells from the CCD patient.
