Trop Med Infect Dis

June 2023

International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, 2 Rue Jean Lantier, 75001 Paris, France.

Many patients with tuberculosis (TB) have comorbidities, risk determinants and disability that co-exist at diagnosis, during and after TB treatment. We conducted an observational cohort study in 11 health facilities in China to assess under routine program conditions (i) the burden of these problems at the start and end of TB treatment and (ii) whether referral mechanisms for further care were functional. There were 603 patients registered with drug-susceptible TB who started TB treatment: 84% were symptomatic, 14% had diabetes, 14% had high blood pressure, 19% smoked cigarettes, 10% drank excess alcohol and in 45% the 6 min walking test (6MWT) was abnormal.

Front Immunol

February 2023

Department of Hematology, The Second Affiliated Hospital, College of Medicine, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China.

Backgrounds: Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy has achieved unprecedented success in treating hematopoietic malignancies. However, this cell therapy is hampered in treating acute myeloid leukemia (AML) due to lack of ideal cell surface targets that only express on AML blasts and leukemia stem cells (LSCs) but not on normal hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs).

Methods: We detected the CD70 expression on the surfaces of AML cell lines, primary AML cells, HSC, and peripheral blood cells and generated a second-generation CD70-specific CAR-T cells using a construct containing a humanized 41D12-based scFv and a 41BB-CD3ζ intracellular signaling domain.

Incidence and clinical treatment of hypertriglyceridemic acute pancreatitis: A few issues.

World J Clin Cases

January 2023

Department of Gastroenterology, Dongyang People's Hospital, Dongyang 322100, Zhejiang Province, China.

Hypertriglyceridemia is a well-recognized etiology of acute pancreatitis, and the incidence of hypertriglyceridemic acute pancreatitis (HTG-AP) has increased in frequency worldwide in response to lifestyle changes. It is crucial to identify hypertriglyceridemia as the cause of pancreatitis and initiate appropriate treatment. Insulin treatment produces effective lowering of triglycerides, but in our opinion, non-diabetic patients with HTG-AP require separate consideration to avoid hypoglycemia.
