As digestive endoscopy becomes more prevalent, an increasing number of autoimmune gastritis (AIG) cases have been diagnosed, which has contributed to a growing body of research on AIG. We report the case of a patient with AIG who was diagnosed due to receiving endoscopic surgery after discovering a gastric neuroendocrine tumor (GNET) during gastroscopy twice within 3 years. The patient was admitted to our hospital for endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) due to GNET recurrence discovered during gastroscopy.

This study evaluated the diagnostic value of the automated UF-5000 parameters and compared it with that of aberrant erythrocytes and acanthocytes classified by microscopy for identifying IgA glomerular hematuria to propose a predictive model for clinical use. It also compared correlations between erythrocyte parameters and malformed erythrocytes. Urine samples from 53 biopsy-proven IgA hematuria cases and 143 non-IGA nephropathic hematuria cases as controls were analyzed.

Clinical updates of B‑cell maturation antigen‑targeted therapy in multiple myeloma (MM) and relapsed/refractory MM (Review).

Int J Mol Med

February 2025

Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Affiliated Nanhua Hospital, University of South China, Hengyang, Hunan 421002, P.R. China.

Despite significant progress in managing multiple myeloma (MM) in recent years, certain patients still have a short duration of therapeutic response, often relapsing within 18 months. These patients typically have high‑risk genetic mutations and may show little to no response to current treatments, highlighting the need for further exploration of optimal therapeutic targets for MM. B‑cell maturation antigen (BCMA), highly expressed in mature B lymphocytes and plasma cells and upregulated in MM, is a promising therapeutic target.

Integration of Longitudinal and Transverse Radiomics from Ultrasound Images with Clinical Factors for HER-2 Status Prediction in Invasive Breast Cancer Patients.

J Invest Surg

December 2024

Department of Diagnostic Ultrasound Imaging & Interventional Therapy, Zhejiang Cancer Hospital, Hangzhou Institute of Medicine (HIM), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hangzhou, China.

Article Synopsis
  • This study created a nomogram that uses ultrasound radiomics and clinical factors to predict HER2 status in invasive breast cancer patients.
  • The research analyzed data from 537 patients and found that the radiomics model provided better predictions than individual methods, showing strong performance in both training and test cohorts.
  • The nomogram could help minimize unnecessary biopsies and enhance personalized treatment plans for patients with breast cancer.

The aim of this study was to explore the differences in alveolar bone structure characteristics in skeletal class II and class III malocclusion in the mandibular incisor region. From January 2021 to November 2023, 100 cases of skeletal malocclusion patients were selected from our hospital, including 56 cases of skeletal Class II malocclusion and 44 cases of skeletal Class III malocclusion. The alveolar bone structure characteristics in the mandibular incisor region of skeletal class II and class III malocclusion patients are compared.

Objective: To retrospectively analyze the clinical efficacy of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction combined with anterolateral complex repair and ACL reconstruction combined with ALL reconstruction in the treatment of anterior cruciate ligament injuries with high-grade pivot shift.

Methods: From January 2018 to June 2022, 49 patients combined ACL and ALL injuries with high-grade pivot shift were retrospectively studied from three hospitals, 29 of them underwent ACL reconstruction with anterolateral complex repair (repair group), including 23 males and 6 females with an average age of (27.5±4.

Background: Patellar fractures, in particular inferior pole fractures, pose significant challenges due to the patella's complex biomechanics and crucial role in knee extension and stability. This study aimed to compare the therapeutic effectiveness and long-term efficacy of two fixation methods: combined vertical wire and mini steel plate fixation versus independent vertical wire fixation. The comparison was based on clinical classification, addressing the ongoing debate regarding optimal management strategies for patellar inferior pole fractures.

CAR-T-Cell Therapy Based on Immune Checkpoint Modulation in the Treatment of Hematologic Malignancies.

Cell Transplant

November 2024

Department of Hematology, Dongyang Hospital Affiliated to WenZhou Medical University, Dongyang People's Hospital, Dongyang, China.

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy is a revolutionary immunotherapy that has shown significant success in treating certain hematologic malignancies. However, there are still challenges and limitations associated with this therapy, and not all cancer patients benefit from this therapy alone. Therefore, modifying CAR-T-cell therapy based on immune checkpoints, and its combination with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), shows promise as a potentially more effective strategy for treating hematologic malignancies.

Bruton's tyrosine kinase inhibitors have been demonstrated preliminary efficacy in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). To compare the safety and efficacy of zanubrutinib plus rituximab and lenalidomide (ZR2) and R-CHOP-like for elderly patients with newly diagnosed DLBCL, we conducted this single-center prospective study. Patients were treated with 6 cycles of ZR2 or R-CHOP-like regimen for the first-line treatment.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the prognostic value of the red blood cell distribution width to platelet ratio (RPR) in predicting the severity of pyogenic liver abscess (PLA), an inflammation-related disease.
  • A total of 278 patients diagnosed with PLA between February 2013 and December 2022 were analyzed, focusing on their initial laboratory results.
  • The findings revealed that RPR was effective in predicting sepsis and septic shock in PLA, with a sensitivity of 0.78 and specificity of 0.82 for sepsis, and a sensitivity of 0.67 and specificity of 0.79 for septic shock, indicating its potential as a reliable clinical indicator.

Objective: To explore the relationship between cytokines such as interferon γ (IFN-γ), interleukin-10 (IL-10), and interleukin-6 (IL-6), as well as the severity of the condition, and serum zinc (Zn) and Fe levels in children with infection.

Methods: A simple random sampling method was used to select 108 children with infection admitted to the hospital from January to December 2022 as the study subjects. Collect demographic data such as gender, age, and course of disease from all patients, as well as inflammatory cytokines (InCs) such as IFN-γ, IL-10, and IL-6, the severity of the condition, and serum trace element information such as Zn, Fe, calcium (Ca), and potassium (K) from all patients.

Leukemia is a kind of hematopoietic stem cell malignant clonal disease. Drug therapy is the core treatment strategy for leukemia, but the current therapeutic drugs have defects such as low bioavailability, large adverse reactions and inconvenient intravenous administration. Targeted therapy can combine drugs with specific carcinogenic sites on cells to kill cancer cells and avoid damage to normal cells, which has gradually become the mainstream method of leukemia treatment.
