Background: Residual disease after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in breast cancer patients predicts worse outcomes than pathological complete response. Differing prognostic impacts based on the anatomical site of residual tumors are not well studied.
Objectives: The study aims to assess disease-free survival (DFS) in breast cancer patients with different residual tumor sites following NAC and to develop a nomogram for predicting 1- to 3-year DFS in these patients.

The gut microbiota has been demonstrated to be correlated with the clinical phenotypes of diseases, including cancers. However, there are few studies on clinical subtyping based on the gut microbiota, especially in breast cancer (BC) patients. Here, using machine learning methods, we analysed the gut microbiota of BC, colorectal cancer (CRC), and gastric cancer (GC) patients to identify their shared metabolic pathways and the importance of these pathways in cancer development.

Background: Accurate assessment of axillary status after neoadjuvant therapy for breast cancer patients with axillary lymph node metastasis is important for the selection of appropriate subsequent axillary treatment decisions. Our objectives were to accurately predict whether the breast cancer patients with axillary lymph node metastases could achieve axillary pathological complete response (pCR).
Methods: We collected imaging data to extract longitudinal CT image features before and after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC), analyzed the correlation between radiomics and clinicopathological features, and developed models to predict whether patients with axillary lymph node metastasis can achieve axillary pCR after NAC.

Background: For patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER2)-positive advanced or metastatic gastric cancer who have progressed on first-line trastuzumab therapy, the clinical value of the continuous use of trastuzumab beyond progression (TBP) is controversial.
Objectives: The present study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and explore new treatment strategies of TBP for patients with trastuzumab-resistant HER2-positive advanced or metastatic gastric cancer in the era of cancer immunotherapy.
Design: Retrospective analysis.

Background: Intra-abdominal infections are frequently associated with acute respiratory distress syndrome, which significantly affects patient prognosis. However, little is known about the specific risk factors of acute respiratory distress syndrome in sepsis caused by intra-abdominal infections.
Methods: This retrospective study included adult patients with intra-abdominal sepsis admitted to the intensive care unit of a tertiary teaching hospital in China between June 2017 and June 2022.

Proteolysis targeting chimera (PROTAC) technology is a promising new mode of targeted protein degradation with significant transformative implications for the clinical treatment of different diseases. Nevertheless, while this technology offers numerous advantages, on-target off-tumour toxicity in healthy cells remains a major challenge for clinical application in cancer therapy. Strategies are presently being explored to optimize degradation activity with cellular selectivity to minimize undesirable side effects.

T1 image is a widely collected imaging sequence in various neuroimaging datasets, but it is rarely used to construct an individual-level brain network. In this study, a novel individualized radiomics-based structural similarity network was proposed from T1 images. In detail, it used voxel-based morphometry to obtain the preprocessed gray matter images, and radiomic features were then extracted on each region of interest in Brainnetome atlas, and an individualized radiomics-based structural similarity network was finally built using the correlational values of radiomic features between any pair of regions of interest.

Aim: This study aims to identify suitable candidates for axillary sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) or targeted axillary dissection (TAD) among clinical N2 (cN2) triple-negative (TN) or HER2 positive (HER2+)breast cancer patients following neoadjuvant therapy(NAT).
Background: Despite the substantial axillary burden in cN2 breast cancer patients, high pathological response rates can be achieved with NAT in TN or HER2+ subtypes, thus enabling potential downstaging of axillary surgery.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on data from the CSBrS-012 study, screening 709 patients with initial cN2, either HER2+ or TN subtype, from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2020.

Background: Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are a small population of cells in tumor tissues that can drive tumor initiation and promote tumor progression. A small number of previous studies indirectly mentioned the role of F-box and WD repeat domain-containing 7 (FBXW7) as a tumor suppressor in Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). However, few studies have focused on the function of FBXW7 in cancer stemness in TNBC and the related mechanism.

Intrinsic or acquired radioresistance remained an important challenge in the successful management of cancer. Herein, a novel "smart" multifunctional copper-based nanocomposite (RCL@Pd@CuZ) to improve radiotherapy (RT) sensitivity is designed and developed. In this nanoplatform, DSPE-PEG-RGD modified on the liposome surface enhanced tumor targeting and permeability; capsaicin inserted into the phospholipid bilayer improved the hypoxic conditions in the tumor microenvironment (TME) by inhibiting mitochondrial respiration; a Cu MOF porous cube encapsulated in liposome generated highly active hydroxyl radicals (OH·), consumed GSH and promoted cuproptosis by releasing Cu; the ultrasmall palladium (Pd) nanozyme within the cubes exhibited peroxidase activity, catalyzing toxic OH· generation and releasing oxygen from hydrogen peroxide; and lastly, Pd, as an element with a relatively high atomic number (Z) enhanced the photoelectric and Compton effects of X-rays.

Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) is a rare and aggressive myeloid malignancy which characteristically expresses an atypical phenotype including CD123+, CD56+, and CD4+. We are aimed to investigate the clinical and prognostic characteristics of AML patients exhibiting BPDCN-like immunophenotype and provide additional insights for risk stratification of AML. A total of 241 newly diagnosed AML patients were enrolled in this retrospective study and categorized into BPDCN-like positive (n = 125)/negative (n = 116) groups, determined by the present with CD123+ along with either CD56+ or CD4+, or both.

Background: In the context of esophageal cancers, lymph nodes located along the left recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) exhibit significant involvement, posing significant challenges for lymphadenectomy. The objective of this study is to assess the safety and efficacy of a novel technique for lymphadenectomy called "elastic suspension of left RLN" method, comparing it with the conventional approach.
Methods: Between January 2016 and June 2020, a total of 393 patients who underwent minimally invasive esophagectomy with gastroplasty and cervical esophagogastric anastomosis were enrolled in the study.

Our purpose of this study was to explore the application effect of respiratory flora regulation in bronchiolitis obliterans after lung transplantation, and its regulatory effect on the microbial environment of the lesion and the IL-10/STAT3 signaling pathway. 25 clean-grade C57BL/6 male mice and 5 BALB/c male mice were selected for orthotopic tracheal transplantation and postoperative respiratory flora regulation in a hospital animal room from Jan 2019 to Dec 2021. Next, the changes in the microbial environment and the IL-10/STAT3 signaling pathway before and after respiratory flora regulation were compared, so as to evaluate the regulatory effect of this method.

Overexpression of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) has been linked to several human cancers, including esophageal cancer, pancreatic cancer, anal cancer, breast cancer, and lung cancer, particularly non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Therefore, EGFR has emerged as a critical target for treating solid tumors. Many 1st-, 2nd-, 3rd-, and 4th-generation EGFR single-target inhibitors with clinical efficacy have been designed and synthesized in recent years.
