Background And Hypothesis: Patients with minimal change nephrotic syndrome (MCNS) usually experienced severe edema which can affect the absorption of oral corticosteroid during the first 2 weeks. We conducted a randomized controlled trial to compare the efficacy of intravenous isovalent methylprednisolone induction followed by oral prednisone therapy with conventional oral prednisone therapy in highly edematous MCNS patients, aiming to provide a better therapy for MCNS patients.
Methods: A single-center, open-label, parallel-arm randomized controlled trial was performed in the Nephrology Department of the Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University.

Purpose: To assess the consistency of Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data System (O-RADS) lexicon interpretation between senior and junior sonologists and to investigate its impact on O-RADS classification and diagnostic performance.
Methods: We prospectively studied 620 patients with adnexal lesions, all of whom underwent transvaginal or transrectal ultrasound performed by a senior sonologist (R1) who selected the O-RADS lexicon description and O-RADS category for the lesion after the examination. Meanwhile, the junior sonologist (R2) analyzed the images retained by R1 and divided the lesion in the same way.

Objective: To explore the clinical value of three-dimensional (3D) visualization technique in laparoscopic D3 radical resection of right colon cancer.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 73 patients with right colon cancer undergoing laparoscopic D3 radical operation in our hospital between May, 2019 and March, 2021. Among these patients, 41 underwent enhanced CT examination with 3D visualization reconstruction to guide the actual operation, and 32 underwent enhanced CT examination only before the operation (control group).

Renal ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury is characterized by elevated expression of homocysteine and decreased production of hydrogen sulfide (HS). Cystathionine γ-lyase (CSE) is a key factor in the onset of renal I/R injury, while IFC-305 can regulate the expression of CSE via epigenetic modification. Animal and cellular models of I/R were established in this work, followed by H&E staining to evaluate the extent of renal tissue injury under distinct conditions.

Cancer-secreted exosomes are critical mediators of cancer-host crosstalk. In the present study, we showed the delivery of miR-21-5p from colorectal cancer (CRC) cells to endothelial cells via exosomes increased the amount of miR-21-5p in recipient cells. MiR-21-5p suppressed Krev interaction trapped protein 1 (KRIT1) in recipient HUVECs and subsequently activated β-catenin signaling pathway and increased their downstream targets VEGFa and Ccnd1, which consequently promoted angiogenesis and vascular permeability in CRC.

Objective: To evaluate the cytotoxic effect of photodynamic therapy (PDT) combined with targeted therapy using cross-linked liposomes and gels (Ce6-PC-Tmab@A-Gel) loaded with photosensitizer Chlorin (Ce6) and the tumor-targeting drug Trastuzumab (Tmab) in drug-resistant HER2+ breast cancer cells.
Objective: Ce6-PC-Tmab liposomes were prepared using the thin-film hydration method. The general properties, encapsulation efficiency and near-infrared responsivity of the nanoparticles were evaluated.

Phosphorus reduction can prevent against vascular calcification (VC) in chronic kidney disease (CKD), but the mechanisms underlying its actions remain unclear. The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of a fortified phosphorus‑lowing treatment on VC in CKD. Serum levels of creatinine, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23), calcium and phosphorus, and the plasma levels of parathyroid hormone (PTH) were determined in an animal model of CKD treated with or without lanthanum.

Multiparametric MRI fusion with transrectal ultrasound (mpMRI/TRUS)-guided biopsy has the sensitivity of mpMRI with the practicality of TRUS, but males with no cancerous lesion(s) detected on mpMRI have a considerable remaining risk of cancer. Endorectal power Doppler ultrasound improves the sensitivity of grayscale ultrasound-guided biopsies. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the beneficial effect of endorectal power Doppler/grayscale ultrasound-guided biopsy over that of mpMRI/TRUS-guided biopsy for decision-making regarding prostatectomy in males with a high risk of prostate cancer.

However, only a small proportion of patients respond to PD-1/PD-L1 blockade, so predictive biomarkers are needed. Here, based on DNA methylation profiles and the objective response rates (ORRs) of PD-1/PD-L1 inhibition therapy, we identified 269 CpG sites and developed an initial CpG-based model by Lasso to predict ORRs.

To explore the antitumor effect of hypoxia-inducible factor-1 short hairpin RNA (HIF-1 shRNA) delivered by ultrasound targeted microbubble destruction (UTMD) and transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) on rats with hepatic cancer. After the models of transplantation hepatoma were established, Wistar rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: Control group, UTMD group, TAE group, and UTMD+TAE group. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) was used to monitor tumor size on day 14 after four different treatments.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play important roles in tumorigenesis and tumor progression. In this study, we investigated the role of miR-320a-3p in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Expressions of miR-320a-3p were firstly determined in 80 NSCLC patients' cancer tissues and adjacent normal lung tissues by qRT-PCR.

Background: Aberrant expression of miR-199a has been frequently reported in cancer studies; however, its role in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has not been examined in detail.
Results: Here, we showed that miR-199a was downregulated in RCC and associated with poor prognostic phenotype. Using luciferase and western blot assays we identified that Rho-associated coiled coil-containing protein kinases 1 (ROCK1) was a direct target gene for miR-199a.

Aberrant expression of miR-145 has frequently been reported in cancer studies; however, its role in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has not been examined in detail. Here, we showed that miR-145 was downregulated in RCC cells and tissues and associated with a poor prognostic phenotype in RCC patients. Restoration of miR-145 suppressed proliferation and invasion and induced apoptosis in clear cell RCC (ccRCC) cells.

ELF3 is one of the member of transcription factors from E-twenty-six family, its role varies in different types of cancer. However, the role and specific mechanisms of ELF3 in the development of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) still remains largely unknown. In our study, ELF3 was observed to be upregulated in NSCLC tissues compared to the corresponding normal lung tissue at mRNA and protein levels, and its expression level was correlated with the overall survival of patients with NSCLC.

Background/aims: Zinc finger protein 703 (ZNF703), initially identified as a novel oncogene in human breast cancer, is a member of the NET/NlZ family of zinc finger transcription factors. It is recognized that the overexpression of ZNF703 is associated with various types of human cancers, but the role and molecular mechanism of ZNF703 in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) are unknown.
Methods: ZNF703 expression levels were examined in OSCC tissues and non-cancerous tissues by qRT-PCR and immunohistochemistry (IHC).
