Renal ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury is characterized by elevated expression of homocysteine and decreased production of hydrogen sulfide (HS). Cystathionine γ-lyase (CSE) is a key factor in the onset of renal I/R injury, while IFC-305 can regulate the expression of CSE via epigenetic modification. Animal and cellular models of I/R were established in this work, followed by H&E staining to evaluate the extent of renal tissue injury under distinct conditions.

Cancer-secreted exosomes are critical mediators of cancer-host crosstalk. In the present study, we showed the delivery of miR-21-5p from colorectal cancer (CRC) cells to endothelial cells via exosomes increased the amount of miR-21-5p in recipient cells. MiR-21-5p suppressed Krev interaction trapped protein 1 (KRIT1) in recipient HUVECs and subsequently activated β-catenin signaling pathway and increased their downstream targets VEGFa and Ccnd1, which consequently promoted angiogenesis and vascular permeability in CRC.

Multiparametric MRI fusion with transrectal ultrasound (mpMRI/TRUS)-guided biopsy has the sensitivity of mpMRI with the practicality of TRUS, but males with no cancerous lesion(s) detected on mpMRI have a considerable remaining risk of cancer. Endorectal power Doppler ultrasound improves the sensitivity of grayscale ultrasound-guided biopsies. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the beneficial effect of endorectal power Doppler/grayscale ultrasound-guided biopsy over that of mpMRI/TRUS-guided biopsy for decision-making regarding prostatectomy in males with a high risk of prostate cancer.

Immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) treatment could bring long-lasting clinical benefits to patients with metastatic cancer. However, only a small proportion of patients respond to PD-1/PD-L1 blockade, so predictive biomarkers are needed. Here, based on DNA methylation profiles and the objective response rates (ORRs) of PD-1/PD-L1 inhibition therapy, we identified 269 CpG sites and developed an initial CpG-based model by Lasso to predict ORRs.
