Objective: Accurate preoperative evaluation of myometrial invasion (MI) is essential for treatment decisions in endometrial cancer (EC). However, the diagnostic accuracy of commonly utilized magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques for this assessment exhibits considerable variability. This study aims to enhance preoperative discrimination of absence or presence of MI by developing and validating a multimodal deep learning radiomics (MDLR) model based on MRI.

Emerging evidence indicates that alteration of gut microbiota plays an important role in chronic kidney disease (CKD)-related vascular calcification (VC). We aimed to investigate the specific gut microbiota and the underlying mechanism involved in CKD-VC. We identified an increased abundance of () in the feces of CKD rats (induced by using 5/6 nephrectomy followed by a high calcium and phosphate diet) with aortic calcification via amplicon sequencing of 16S rRNA genes.

Vascular calcification (VC) is prevalent in hypertension, diabetes mellitus, chronic kidney disease, and aging and has been identified as an important predictor of adverse cardiovascular events. With the complicated mechanisms involved in VC, there is no effective therapy. Thus, a strategy for attenuating the development of VC is of clinical importance.

Although stem cell-derived exosomes have been recognized as new candidates for cell-free treatment in myocardial infarction (MI), the challenge to improve the exosome retention in ischemic tissue remains. Our previous research indicated that islet-1(ISL1) overexpression enhances the paracrine function of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and promotes angiogenesis in a model of MI. In this study, genetically engineered ISL1-MSC-derived exosomes (ISL1-MSCs-Exo) were collected, and the contents were analyzed by exosomal RNA sequencing.

Aims: The main therapeutic strategies for coronary artery disease (CAD) are mainly based on the correction of abnormal cholesterol levels; however, residual risks remain. The newly proven gut microbial metabolite trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) linked with CAD has broadened our horizons. In this study, we determined the role of proline/serine-rich coiled-coil protein 1 (PSRC1) in TMAO-driven atherosclerosis.

Maladaptive inflammatory and immune responses are responsible for intestinal barrier integrity and function dysregulation. Proline/serine-rich coiled-coil protein 1 (PSRC1) critically contributes to the immune system, but direct data on the gut microbiota and the microbial metabolite trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) are lacking. Here, we investigated the impact of PSRC1 deletion on TMAO generation and atherosclerosis.

CCL17 is an important chemokine that plays a vital immunomodulatory role in the tumor microenvironment (TME). Analysis of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) data in Kaplan-Meier plotter databases found that the overall survival of patients in the CCL17 high-expression group was higher than that of the low-expression group, especially for patients with early (stages I and II) LUAD, which has a more positive prognostic value. Expression of CCL17 in LUAD was positively correlated with the proportion of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, immunostimulators, and major histocompatibility complexes using the TISIDB databases.

Most of the malignant melanomas are already in the middle and advanced stages when they are diagnosed, which is often accompanied by the metastasis and spread of other organs. Besides, the prognosis of patients is bleak. The characteristics of the local immune microenvironment in metastatic melanoma have important implications for both tumor progression and tumor treatment.

Background: Respiratory and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) frequently coexist; however, there is limited evidence on the relationship between chronic respiratory symptoms in young adulthood and late-onset CVD.
Research Question: Are chronic respiratory symptoms in young adulthood associated with CVD and all-cause mortality in later life?
Study Design And Methods: A total of 4,621 participants from the Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults Study (CARDIA) cohort study aged 18 to 30 years were included. Chronic respiratory symptoms were identified through respiratory symptom questionnaires in two consecutive examinations.

Recently, cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cells have been shown to possess effective cytotoxic activity against some tumor cells both in vitro and in clinical research. Furthermore, dendritic cell-activated CIK (DC-CIK) cells display significantly increased antitumor activity compared to unstimulated CIK cells. Study findings indicate DC cells can secrete chemokine C-C motif ligand 17 (CCL17) and chemokine C-C motif ligand 22 (CCL22) with a common receptor molecule, C-C chemokine receptor type-4(CCR4).

Background: Inflammatory immunity theory has raised considerable concern in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Proviral integration site of murine 2 (Pim-2) kinases functions in apoptosis pathways and the anti-inflammatory response. Here, we investigated whether Pim-2 kinase inhibits atherosclerotic inflammation by suppressing the mTORC1 pathway.

Immunological adjuvants are essential for successful cancer vaccination. However, traditional adjuvants have some limitations, such as lack of controllability and induction of systemic toxicity, which restrict their broad application. Here, we present a light-activable immunological adjuvant (LIA), which is composed of a hypoxia-responsive amphiphilic dendrimer nanoparticle loaded with chlorin e6.

Background: Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is partly attibuted to the dysregulation of nuero-inflammation which can be mediated by adiponectin. We conducted this study was to explore the characteristics of peripheral adiponectin and its role in predicting treatment outcome in patients with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) treated by escitalopram or venlafaxine.
Methods: A total of 70 untreated GAD inpatients who met the diagnosis criteria of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders IV (DSM-IV) were enrolled and randomly selected for treatment with escitalopram (n=36) or venlafaxine (n=34) for 8 weeks.

The DNA-dependent protein kinase catalytic subunit (DNA-PKcs) is encoded by the protein kinase, DNA-activated, catalytic polypeptide () gene. DNA-PKcs plays a major role in nonhomologous end joining DNA repair, and it has been identified to be an important factor in tumor progression and metastasis. DNA-PKcs may have opposite effects in diseases, depending on the cell and tissue types.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the primary cause of cancer-related death worldwide; however, specific and sensitive tools for the early diagnosis and targeted therapy of CRC are currently lacking. High-throughput sequencing technology revealed that gene expression of long-chain non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in a number of cancers directly or indirectly interferes with various biological processes. Emerging evidence suggests that lncRNAs regulate target genes and play an important role in the biological processes of malignancies, including CRC.

Novel drugs are urgently needed for gastric cancer (GC) treatment. The thioredoxin-thioredoxin reductase (TRX-TRXR) system has been found to play a critical role in GC tumorigenesis and progression. Thus, agents that target the TRX-TRXR system may be highly efficacious as GC treatments.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs/miRs) are small non-coding RNAs that serve a post-transcriptional regulatory role in eukaryotes. Previous studies have demonstrated that the expression of miR-34a in colorectal cancer (CRC) tissues is decreased compared with that in normal colorectal tissues. However, the role of miR-34a in the invasion and metastasis of CRC remains unclear.

In recent years, the incidence and mortality of colorectal cancer (CRC) have been on a global upward trend. There is an urgent need for effective tools to prevent and treat CRC and reduce morbidity and mortality of CRC patients. Recent evidence suggests that programmed cell death 4 (PDCD4), a novel tumor suppressor gene, inhibits tumor progression at transcriptional and translational levels and regulates multiple signal transduction pathways.
