Objective: The aim of the study was to compare consumption of purported bladder irritants between women with and without urgency urinary incontinence.

Study Design: We performed a case-control study of nonpregnant females aged ≥20 years using the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2007-2020.

Healthy Aging and the Gut Microbiome in People With and Without HIV.

Background: Aging-related comorbidities are more common in people with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) compared to people without HIV. The gut microbiome may play a role in healthy aging; however, this relationship remains unexplored in the context of HIV.

Methods: 16S rRNA gene sequencing was conducted on stool from 1409 women (69% with HIV; 2304 samples) and 990 men (54% with HIV; 1008 samples) in the MACS/WIHS Combined Cohort Study.

An alternative for hysteroscopic myomectomy: Ultrasound-guided single-step myomectomy for submucous myoma uteri with ring forceps, a retrospective study.

Objective: Hysteroscopic myomectomy is widely regarded as safe and feasible, although achieving single-session results for larger myomas often requires alternative methods. This study introduces a novel approach: ultrasound-guided myoma extirpation using ring forceps combined with hysteroscopy.

Methods: This retrospective, single-center study includes patients who underwent ultrasound-guided myoma extirpation between 2016 and 2024.

Aim/introduction: Senescence is a key driver of age-related kidney dysfunction, including diabetic kidney disease. Oxidative stress activates cellular senescence, induces abnormal glycolysis, and is associated with pyruvate kinase muscle isoform 2 (PKM2) dysfunction; however, the mechanisms linking PK activation to cellular senescence have not been elucidated. We hypothesized that PKM2 activation by TEPP-46 could suppress oxidative stress-induced renal tubular cell injury and cellular senescence.

Breast cancer surveillance for epithelial ovarian cancer patients with BRCA1 and BRCA2 pathogenic variants: a single-center retrospective study.

Objectives: To identify a method for breast cancer (BC) surveillance in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) with germline BRCA1/2 pathogenic variants (gBRCA1/2m) and the incidence of BC after EOC in the era of broad PARP inhibitors use.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the data on EOC patients who had gBRCA1/2m by genetic testing between January 2017 and August 2023 in our single center.

Results: Of 125 patients with EOC, 33 had gBRCA1/2m.

A Rare Case of Severe Burns in a Pregnant Woman.

Although burns are an extremely rare injury during pregnancy, they place a significant additional burden on the body, which is physiologically adapted to pregnancy and therefore limited in its ability to respond effectively to stress. Due to the low incidence of burns during pregnancy, the existing literature is scarce. Case reports are mostly from third-world countries, and there are no official guidelines or recommendations.
