Anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccination of dialysis patients has been proven to be safe and effective to reduce COVID-19-related morbidity and mortality. However, data on the durability of anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies post-vaccination in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients are scarce. In this prospective single-center cohort study we measured anti-SARS-CoV-2 RBD antibodies 3 and 6 months after the 3rd dose of the mRNA-1273 vaccine in 27 adult PD patients and recorded breakthrough infections.

Objective: To compare lipid profile changes and cardiovascular events among HIV naïve and experienced patients from a real-world cohort treated with elvitegravir/cobicistat/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide fumarate or dolutegravir/abacavir/lamivudine.
Method: A retrospective cohort study in HIV naïve and experienced people at a reference hospital in Spain was done. During the follow-up (March 2015-June 2019), patients were treated with elvitegravir/cobicistat/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide fumarate or dolutegravir/abacavir/lamivudine.

The authors aimed to identify determinants of the clinical course of herpes zoster and immunological responses, focusing on pain trajectories. This prospective community-based cohort study involved the analysis of responses to a valid pain survey provided by 375 patients diagnosed with herpes zoster based on clinical symptoms and virus identification by polymerase chain reaction. The authors analyzed most patients for humoral/cell-mediated immune response against varicella-zoster virus at the onset and 3 months post-onset.

To explore an off-season enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) upsurge in the winter season of 2019/2020, we adapted a whole-genome sequencing approach for Nanopore Sequencing for 20 hospitalized patients with accompanying respiratory or neurological presentation. Applying phylodynamic and evolutionary analysis on Nextstrain and Datamonkey respectively, we report a highly diverse virus with an evolutionary rate of 3.05 × 10 substitutions per year (entire EV-D68 genome) and a positive episodic/diversifying selection with persistent yet undetected circulation likely driving evolution.

Purpose: Post acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection are defined by persistence or re-occurrence of symptoms six to 12 weeks after SARS-CoV-2 infections.
Methods: Twice vaccinated hospital employees after mild to moderate post-vaccination SARS-CoV-2 infection completed a questionnaire on the incidence of general, respiratory, neuropsychiatric, dermatological and gastrointestinal symptoms, experienced during their acute infection and eight weeks after recovery. Post acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection were analysed in relation to socio-demographic-, health-, virus- and acute infection-related characteristics.

The severity of COVID-19 is associated with individual genetic host factors. Among these, genetic polymorphisms affecting natural killer (NK) cell responses, as variations in the HLA-E- (HLA-E*0101/0103), FcγRIIIa- (FcγRIIIa-158-F/V), and NKG2C- (KLRC2 ) receptor, were associated with severe COVID-19. Recently, the rs9916629-C/T genetic polymorphism was identified that indirectly shape the human NK cell repertoire towards highly pro-inflammatory CD56 NK cells.

The NeuMoDx96 platform is a fully automated real-time PCR (RT-PCR) system. To provide continued testing quality with the introduction of new assays, the primary aim of this study was to evaluate the analytical and clinical performance of the NeuMoDx platform for the detection and quantification of CMV and EBV DNA in EDTA plasma. As no conversion from log international units per milliliter to copies per milliliter was provided, the secondary aim was to calculate and establish a conversion factor for the output of results in copies per milliliter for CMV and EBV.

The stimulus-induced cAMP response element (CRE)-binding protein (CREB) family of transcription factors bind to CREs to regulate diverse cellular responses, including proliferation, survival, and differentiation. Human herpesvirus 6A (HHV-6A), which belongs to the subfamily, is a lymphotropic herpesvirus frequently found in patients with neuroinflammatory diseases. Previous reports implicated the importance of CREs in the HHV-6A life cycle, although the effects of the binding of transcription factors to CREs in viral replication have not been fully elucidated.
