Background: Sex-specific risk management may improve outcomes in congenital long QT syndrome (LQTS). We recently developed a prediction score for cardiac events (CEs) and life-threatening events (LTEs) in postadolescent women with LQTS. In the present study, we aimed to develop personalized risk estimates for the burden of CEs and LTEs in male adolescents with potassium channel-mediated LQTS.

Background: Telecommunicator CPR (T-CPR), whereby emergency dispatch facilitates cardiac arrest recognition and coaches CPR over the telephone, is an important strategy to increase early recognition and bystander CPR in adult out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). Little is known about this treatment strategy in the pediatric population. We investigated the role of T-CPR and related performance among pediatric OHCA.

Fibrotic remodeling exacerbates arrhythmic activity in persistent atrial fibrillation and can play a key role in reentrant arrhythmia, but emergent interaction between nonconductive ablation-induced scar and native fibrosis (ie, residual fibrosis) is poorly understood. Methods and Results We conducted computational simulations in pre- and postablation left atrial models reconstructed from late gadolinium enhanced magnetic resonance imaging scans to test the hypothesis that ablation in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation creates new substrate conducive to recurrent arrhythmia mediated by anchored reentry.

To address this gap, we examined the associations of serial measures of plasma TMAO with incident ischemic stroke. Methods and Results We used a prospective cohort design with data pooled from 2 cohorts.

Background Transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis (ATTR-CM), found in 6% to 15% of cohorts with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, has long been considered a rare disease with poor prognosis. New treatments have made it one of the few directly treatable causes of heart failure. This study sought to determine whether patients with ATTR-CM, particularly those treated with tafamidis, have comparable survival to an unselected cohort with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.

The Washington State Certificate of Need program seeks to balance hospital volume and patient access through regulation of elective PCI. Methods and Results We performed a retrospective cohort study of all non-Veterans Affairs hospitals with PCI programs in Washington State from 2009 to 2018.

Therefore, we identified factors associated with residual angina frequency after CTO PCI and developed a model to predict postprocedure anginal burden. Methods and Results Among patients in the OPEN-CTO (Outcomes, Patient Health Status, and Efficiency in Chronic Total Occlusion Hybrid Procedures) registry, we evaluated the association between patient characteristics and residual angina frequency at 6 months, as assessed by the Seattle Angina Questionnaire Angina Frequency Scale.

We tested the association of neurohormonal blockade use with survival. Methods and Results A total of 309 consecutive patients with transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis were identified.

Background High levels of supraventricular ectopy are associated with greater risk of atrial fibrillation, stroke, and death. Little information is available about differences by race/ethnicity in the extent of supraventricular ectopy, or about whether high levels of supraventricular ectopy are associated with impaired left atrial (LA) function and LA enlargement. Methods and Results In the MESA (Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis), 1148 participants (47% men; mean age, 67 years) had cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging in 2010 to 2012, followed by 14-day ambulatory electrocardiographic monitoring in 2016 to 2018.

However, there is limited information on outcomes for both revascularization strategies in the same population. The study evaluated temporal changes in risk profile, procedural characteristics, and clinical outcomes for PCI- and CABG-treated patients.

Methods and Results Electronic databases and major conference proceedings were searched for randomized controlled trials that compared DCBs with stents or angioplasty for de novo coronary lesions. The primary outcome was target lesion revascularization.

This study investigated the individual and integrated effectiveness of amino-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (Pro-BNP), estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (CRP) as predictive factors for CRS 1 in patients with acute myocardial infarction. Methods and Results In a retrospective analysis of 2094 patients with acute myocardial infarction, risk factors for CRS 1 were analyzed by logistic regression.
