The gene encodes the α1 chain of type I collagen, and the data reported so far demonstrate that its polymorphic variants may affect biomechanical properties of bones, muscles, and tendons, and contribute to musculoskeletal disorders. Given, however, limited research on these variants in tendon pathology, we analyzed the impact of polymorphisms on the tendinopathy phenotype and the effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment for tennis elbow. Pain perception and therapy outcomes were analyzed from baseline, i.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an autologous preparation used to accelerate regeneration; however, this form of therapy is not always effective. Vascular endothelial growth factor B (), which affects vessel survival, pathological angiogenesis, and muscle development may differentiate the risk and treatment of lateral elbow tendinopathy (LET). In this study, we analyzed the influence of gene polymorphisms on the effectiveness of LET treatment with PRP.

Aims: Atherogenic indices: Triglyceride to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (TG/HDL-C) ratio, Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP), Atherogenic Coefficient (AC), Castelli's Risk Index I and II (CRI-I, CRI-II) are used in clinical studies as surrogates of major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE). Risk prediction of MACCE in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) has vital role in clinical practice. We aimed to assess prognostic value of these indices following AMI.

Background: Aseptic acetabular loosening can result from various factors that can be categorized into groups: patient-related, surgeon-related and implant-related. We present a case of a 63-year-old patient who at first underwent a total hip arthroplasty (THA) using a metal-on-metal bearing due to hip arthrosis. Follow-up visits revealed no complications after the procedure.

Background: Cardiovascular disease is the major cause of morbidity and mortality, particularly in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Novel markers of insulin resistance and progression of atherosclerosis include the triglycerides and glucose index (TyG index), the triglycerides and body mass index (Tyg-BMI) and the metabolic score for insulin resistance (METS-IR). Establishing independent risk factors for in-hospital death and major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) in patients with myocardial infarction (MI) remains critical.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy holds substantial promise for the treatment of tennis elbow, a complex and challenging musculoskeletal condition. The aim of the study was to assess whether there are correlations between the levels of individual morphotic elements determined in whole blood and the outcomes of tennis elbow treatment with PRP injection, as measured using patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) such as the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Quick Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand (QDASH), and Patient-Rated Tennis Elbow Evaluation (PRTEE). A prospective analysis was conducted on 107 patients (132 elbows) undergoing lateral epicondylitis treatment with (PRP) injections.

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), also known as acne inversa, is a chronic inflammatory disease that manifests as painful nodules, abscesses, draining dermal tunnels, and scarring in intertriginous areas such as the axillae, groin, and breasts. The nature of the disease and its chronicity have a destructive impact on mental health and quality of life. HS has an estimated global prevalence of 0.

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic disease which is often recurrent and occurs as abscesses of the apocrine gland. The most common locations of HS are gluteal/perianal, axillary or inguinal. It is reasonable to assume that squamous cell carcinoma may arise from HS.

Purpose: Growing number of hip arthroplasty in Poland performed with the use of metaphyseal stems results from the decreasing age of patients qualified for procedures and is consistent with the corresponding trends in European countries. To this day, a significant population functions after undergoing hip replacement using metal-on-metal implant. This study was aimed at the assessment of the variability of the oxidative system, as well as the concentrations of chromium and cobalt ions in serum and blood and their potential impact on postoperative clinical status.

Purpose: Current epidemiological data forecast an almost 40% increase in the number of hip arthroplasty performed in the population of patients with osteoarthritis in 2060, compared to year 2018. On the basis of 10 years of observation, the failure rate after a metal-on-metal hip replacement is between 56.7 and 88.

: Osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee is a degenerative disorder characterized by damage to the joint cartilage, pain, swelling, and walking disability. The purpose of this study was to assess whether demographic and radiologic parameters (knee diameters and knee cross-sectional area from magnetic resonance (MR) images) could be used as surrogate biomarkers for the prediction of OA. : The knee diameters and cross-sectional areas of 481 patients were measured on knee MR images, and the corresponding demographic parameters were extracted from the patients' clinical records.

BACKGROUND Cartilage disease (chondromalacia) is most commonly found in the patellofemoral joint. Non-invasive magnetic resonance imaging methods are used to assess the severity of chondromalacia. The available literature lacks papers describing the predilection of chondromalacia changes to BMI assessed on the basis of geometric data that can be assessed by 1.

Background and Objective: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) enables the effective evaluation of chondromalacia of the knee joint. Cartilage disease is affected by many factors, including gender, age, and body mass index (BMI). The aim of this study was to check the relationship between the severity of chondromalacia of the femoro-tibial joint and age, gender, and BMI assessed with 1.

Background: Differences in response to PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy may be linked to the variability of growth factors and their receptor's genes. Considering that, we checked whether the platelet-derived growth factor receptor beta gene () single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) affect the effectiveness of PRP therapy in treating tennis elbow patients.
Methods: The treatment efficacy was analyzed over time (2, 4, 8, 12, 24, 52, and 104 weeks after PRP injection) on 107 patients (132 elbows) using PROMs (patient-reported outcome measures), namely VAS (Visual Analog Scale), QDASH (quick version of Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand) and PRTEE (Patient-Rated Tennis Elbow Evaluation).

Tissue-engineered human allogeneic skin grafts retrieved from a deceased donor play an important role in the therapy of extensive and deeply burned patients. However, there is a vital deficit of allogeneic skin donors, and the reserves of human allogeneic skin grafts are not sufficient. The goal of this work was to analyze the level of knowledge and attitudes of Polish society in the field of transplantation, with particular emphasis on allogeneic skin transplantation.

Reconstructive surgery often confronts large tissue defects. This creates a need to look for materials that are immunogenic but offer the possibility of tissue filling. ADM-acellular dermal matrix-is a biological collagen matrix without immunogenicity, which is more commonly used in surgical treatment.

Background: This study aims to identify genotype variants of the platelet-derived growth factor alpha polypeptide gene () that can influence the individual response to the treatment with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in tennis elbow patients.
Methods: We observed a cohort of 107 patients (132 elbows) with tennis elbow who received treatment with PRP. Patients have been followed-up for two years after PRP injection and the effectiveness of the treatment was measured using universal patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs): visual analog scale (VAS), quick version of disabilities of the arm, shoulder and hand score (QDASH), and patient-rated tennis elbow evaluation (PRTEE).
