Purpose: Hypomelanosis of Ito (HI) is a skin marker of somatic mosaicism. Mosaic MTOR pathogenic variants have been reported in HI with brain overgrowth. We sought to delineate further the pigmentary skin phenotype and clinical spectrum of neurodevelopmental manifestations of MTOR-related HI.

Methods: All patients with GCA and HM living in Côte d'Or (France) were identified by crossing data from the RHEMCO (Registre des Hémopathies Malignes de Côte d'Or) and those having a positive temporal artery biopsy between 1 January 2001 and 31 December 2018.

During an epidemic period, we compared patients hospitalized for initial suspicion of COVID-19 but for whom an alternative diagnosis was finally retained (n = 152) with those who had COVID-19 (n = 222). Most common diagnoses were another infectious disease and heart failure. COVID-19-negative patients were more often active smokers had less often cough, fever, and digestive symptoms, as compared to the 222 COVID-19-positive patients.

To assess real-world outcomes of fluocinolone acetonide (FAc) implant in treating diabetic macular edema (DME), a systematic literature review was conducted on PubMed in order to identify publications assessing the efficacy and safety of the FAc implant in DME in daily practice. Case reports and randomized controlled trials were excluded. Twenty-two observational real-world studies analyzing a total of 1880 eyes were included.

Background: As cancer treatment, biotherapies can be as effective as chemotherapy while reducing the risk of secondary effects, so that they can be taken over longer periods than conventional chemotherapy. Thus, some trials aimed at assessing the benefit of maintaining biotherapies during chemotherapy-free intervals (CFI). For example, the recent PRODIGE9 trial assessed the effect of maintaining bevacizumab during CFI in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) patients.

Background: Although immune modulation is a promising therapeutic avenue in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the most relevant targets remain to be found. COVID-19 has peculiar characteristics and outcomes, suggesting a unique immunopathogenesis.
Methods: Thirty-six immunocompetent non-COVID-19 and 27 COVID-19 patients with severe pneumonia were prospectively enrolled in a single center, most requiring intensive care.

Background: Metastasized pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors are the leading cause of death in patients with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1. Aside from tumor size, prognostic factors of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors are largely unknown. The present study aimed to assess whether the prognosis of patients with resected multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1-related nonfunctioning pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors differs from those with resected multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1-related insulinomas and assessed factors associated with prognosis.

To understand why students in the 2nd cycle of medical studies choose to complete a Diploma of Specialized Studies (DSS) in geriatrics, we conducted a study to identify the factors influencing the choice of a future specialty. In addition, we assessed the impact of clinical in-hospital training (CIHT) in a geriatric hospital on the students' selection of their future specialty. We included all students who completed CIHT in the geriatric facility of our University Hospital between 1 May and 31 October 2018.

Background: COVID-19-related ARDS has unique features when compared with ARDS from other origins, suggesting a distinctive inflammatory pathogenesis. Data regarding the host response within the lung are sparse. The objective is to compare alveolar and systemic inflammation response patterns, mitochondrial alarmin release, and outcomes according to ARDS etiology (i.

Background: Primary cutaneous lymphomas (PCLs) are a heterogeneous group of T-cell (CTCL) and B-cell (CBCL) malignancies. Little is known about their epidemiology at initial presentation in Europe and about potential changes over time.
Objectives: The aim of this retrospective study was to analyse the frequency of PCLs in the French Cutaneous Lymphoma Registry (GFELC) and to describe the demography of patients.

Cure models have been widely developed to estimate the cure fraction when some subjects never experience the event of interest. However, these models were rarely focused on the estimation of the time-to-cure, that is, the delay elapsed between the diagnosis and "the time from which cure is reached," an important indicator, for instance, to address the question of access to insurance or loans for subjects with personal history of cancer. We propose a new excess hazard regression model that includes the time-to-cure as a covariate-dependent parameter to be estimated.

We assessed the prescriptions of patients hospitalized in a geriatric unit and subsequently discharged. This prospective and observational study was conducted over a two-month period in the geriatrics department (acute and rehabilitation units) of a university hospital. Patients discharged from this department were included over a two-month period.

Insufficient real-world data on acute liver injury (ALI) risk associated with oral anticoagulants (OACs) exist in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF). Using the French national healthcare databases, a propensity-weighted nationwide cohort study was performed in NVAF patients initiating OACs from 2011 to 2016, considering separately those (1) with no prior liver disease (PLD) as main population, (2) with PLD, (3) with a history of chronic alcoholism. A Cox proportional hazards model was used to estimate the hazard ratio with 95% confidence interval (HR [95% CI]) of serious ALI (hospitalised ALI or liver transplantation) during the first year of treatment, for each non-vitamin K antagonist (VKA) oral anticoagulant (NOAC: dabigatran, rivaroxaban, apixaban) versus VKA.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of vitreomacular interface abnormalities (VMIAs) and to identify associated factors in an elderly population in Europe.
Methods: The MONTRACHET (Maculopathy Optic Nerve nuTRition neurovAsCular and HEarT diseases) Study is a population-based study, conducted in subjects older than 75 years. Vitreomacular adhesions, vitreomacular tractions, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, and macular cysts were assessed on spectral-domain optical coherence tomography examinations.

Acute myocarditis is associated with cardiac arrhythmia in 25% of cases; a third of these arrhythmias are ventricular tachycardia (VT) or ventricular fibrillation (VF). The implantation of a cardiac defibrillator (ICD) following sustained ventricular arrhythmia remains controversial in these patients. We sought to assess the risk of major arrhythmic ventricular events (MAEs) over time in patients implanted with an ICD following sustained VT/VF in the acute phase of myocarditis compared to those implanted for VT/VF occurring on myocarditis sequelae.
